Grimmbeard Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Hi all, This topic is somewhat overdue, since the event was about three weeks ago... , but I'm posting it anyway! This is my display at the first ever Scouting for Bricks LEGO event from May 4-5 in Leesburg Virginia. The event was sponsored by the local boy scout troop as a creative way of fundraising. Almost 5000 people came, I think, which was a lot more than expected, and the whole thing was a great success. Several vendors including Classic Plastic Bricks and Clone Army Customs were there, as well as the 501st legion, which is a Star Wars group that goes to events such as this. The local LUG, Wamalug/Wamaltc (which I'm not a part of) also came to display some fantastic MOCs including a huge train and city set up, Egyptian pyramid course, "the way things go" type display, and much more! Being a first - time exhibitor, I wasn't really sure what I was expecting coming into this. I had been to Brickfair a couple of times before, but only as a visitor, and I just went with my brother and didn't really meet anyone else there. So suffice to say I was kind of nervous entering this event. I decided, as this was a new experience, that it would be fitting to bring a new MOC, so I spent the month before preparing a new Port for my pirate collection (a BLUECOAT one, by the way). I brought it, as well as all of my custom ships, including my Ghost of Greybeard's Bounty and Chinese Junk. The first day I was there I didn't do much of meeting people, except for the exhibitors near me, mostly as I was quite worried about leaving my MOCs alone. The second day though, I went out and met a lot of other fans, talked with a lot of visitors, and discussed the event with the staff. The second day was better . Towards the end of the event, they had a contest for best-in-show, in which I was recommended for by a few of the LUG members. I won , as they enjoyed the Junk ship best with the SNOT hulls. Anyway, that's enough rambling by me, here are the MOCs (photo quality a little fuzzy). All the photos of the event can be viewed here, here, and here. This is the entire display I brought. Aaand, that's it. Thanks for looking, and I hope you liked it. Quote
