kubic Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Hi everyone, here my entry for the TC8 contest- a custom 6-axle mobile crane. It is not a copy of an existing crane. Motorized functions: -slewing (M-Motor) -extending the 2-section boom (XL-Motor) -raising/lowering the hook (XL-Motor) -pneumatic pump/extending the counterweight (L-Motor through a manual gearbox) Pneumatic functions: -raising the arm (two large cylinders) -opening cabin's roof (small cylinder) Manual & other: -stabilizers (controlled independently, they lock in position) -opening doors -V12 piston engine driven by axles 3 and 4 I know that the superstructure looks very rough, but I had no time to finish it. However, all functions work great. Video Quote
A Gallifreyan Cat Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Very nice. Lots of functions, and the body looks really good. I like the outriggers a lot too. Quote
kisper Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Always curious how to create such a superstructure ?? Quote
kubic Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Always curious how to create such a superstructure ?? It has to be strong enough to hold the extended boom with some load. You must reinforce it heavily and most likely add some rollers in the front, it doesn't tilt on the turntable when there's load on the boom and it should have a good counterweight (like the battery box) Quote
Skandinavc FH Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Nice! I love the colour scheme and the moving counterweight. It reminds me of an older Grove crane. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Nicely build and indeed the moving counterweight is almost a must in every lifting LEGO device...well done... Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Nice openable rood and extendable counterweight! You dont see those functions many times. Quote
chubays Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 EXCELLENT!!!!! I also have an idea of extendable counterweight, but my thoughts was to combine it with switch IR from car to crane. But THIS... It can be easely be a lego model! Quote
