Dragonfire Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) Mission Log: Entry 7 ~ Not a very long journey, but definitely a harrowing one! Although I never once saw them, M.A.N.T.I.S. apparently put up quite a fight on Guinevere - in fact, we were forced into an uneasy stalemate of sorts. Our CEO decided to split our forces. Some of us stayed on Guinevere to continue mining the valuable gold veins on its surface; some of us were sent across the galaxy to a faraway cluster of asteroids, but I was tasked with scouting out Guinevere's neighbour, the planet Sorn. Easier said than done. I was given a light shuttle (a Kawashita Y-Class Mk.II), small and agile enough to outmanoeuvre any hostile craft, but unequipped with any weapons or turrets - speed and agility were its assets. Luckily, I didn't encounter any M.A.N.T.I.S. craft as I left Guinevere. As I approached Sorn, I began to feel slightly worried. I had never landed a shuttle in my life (my android assistant had piloted it before). I made out the rectangular shape of a tarmac landing platform put there by Aera Lure upon her previous mission to Sorn, and I headed straight there. It was then that the left brake began to malfunction.... One nerve-racking hour later, and I had landed. Safely, except for the fact that one of the brakes was defunct. I had had to circle frantically around the area to check my descent, having lost control of the brakes. Honestly, I couldn't believe that I was still alive. But I was. The planet was mainly water, but I had landed on a sandy area, with trees and a small rivulet of a stream. Peaceful, and serene - my kind of place.
