Great looking figs. Want that Gatling gun! In fact, all the prototype pieces would be nice. Hope they go up for general sale soon.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
ben506 replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If it's just random, and assuming that the figures only have the parts shown (but we still get 5 parts per bag - head, torso, legs, hair/hat and accessory), there is a 1 in 442368 chance of getting the complete fig (all 5 parts) you want in one bag. That's just assuming ones that have 5 parts, obviously it changes for ones like the zombie (3 parts only needed, so only 1 in 4096 for him). Now, I'm afraid I don't know exactly how to do the whole 99% confidence level calculations, which is annoying, given I'm fairly sure I learnt them in 1st year of my degree. Baysian statistics can tell you some things, but not everything, which is what we've covered this year (the joys of final year physics degrees). Either way, that should give you some idea of the numbers we're looking at having to get to get a complete collection, without swapping. Not cheap. If they do come properly packed, all the same, it will be slightly easier. But equally might get more frustrating as you can't tell what you're getting, so you end up with 20 zombie cheerleaders with a syringe and caveman hair. -
According to Peeron, I have: 82 Sets (82 Unique), 262 Minifigs, 29,586 Parts, worth $2,949. That's probably about £3000 thanks to the conversion, but obviously that doesn't include the price some of them go for now. Oh, and that's only the sets I've bought myself, mainly Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and the Medieval Market Village ( ). Not bad, for a student. Explains why I'm always hungry, at least! In the loft there's all my brother's sets and the ones I got when I was younger. It's about 2 huge boxes, about 50kg each (we weighed them on bathroom scales, so no idea how accurate that is). The boxes are made up of sets mainly from the 80's and 90's, and a lot of Castle and Space sets in there. No idea how much they're worth, but probably about another £500, I'd guess.

Strange pod found - maybe of alien origin?
ben506 replied to CopMike's topic in Culture & Multimedia
While it looks pretty good, the only new element I can see is the helmet; you can get the chrome plated megaphone on bricklink, I think. But, if you want to know who the website is run by, it's The spoiler is just in case you don't want to know, and continue with the mystery. -
That does seem more likely, given the dates on the sets it came in. Was sure I also had some that went on top... Oh well, it's been a long day, and I think I'm too tired for remembering correctly! Thanks for finding the piece though. At least I was sort of right, just the wrong way up!

Good review of a set I'd nearly forgotten about. Just one thing though: I seem to have loads of these in the boxes of Lego I got from my older brothers (early 80's to mid 90's), so surely they must have been in other sets? It could be I'm missing some vital detail that's different, but I do remember building a lot of planes back in the mid 90's with these engines. Probably just my mistake, but was just wondering if anyone knew why.

There was a mini one, but it wasn't an actual set. It came on parts like the TIE Bomber mini, with the series that contained the AT-AT I believe. I know I had one, and I think it was pretty similar to the bag charm, just a few years ago.

They've done double sided faces more recently than that. The jester in the castle sets and Captain Antilles from the Tantive IV this year spring to mind, so there's every chance he is. It would seem strange for them to do two heads for clones in a set, so I imagine they're both the same, just one is on backwards.

Hello, I'm Ben, as you may have guessed from my username already. I collect mainly Star Wars sets, but also the original Indiana Jones ones (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull never happened as far as I'm concerned. Shia LaBoauef ). I'm officially an AFOL now, being 20, but was a TFOL when I joined. I've been lurking round for a while, posting only a few bits since April, but have now reviewed the Tantive IV in the Star Wars forum (Link). I mainly display my sets, with little to no modding or moccing. I've been collecting since the Episode III line came out, but was also around for the very first lot way back in '99. Other than Lego, I'm a third year university student studying Astrophysics, which doesn't leave me with a lot of free time. Or space, thanks to cramped uni houses. Thanks for reading. I tend to write a little too much, but then I'm used to having to do lots of writing for my course!

8033 General Grievous Starfighter Mini Model review
ben506 replied to Matt Dawson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice review. It's a shame that I haven't actually been able to get near a Smiths or Toys R Us this week, but have been getting the Mirror anyway (then recycling it without doing more than removing the vouchers). Shame I can't try and get multiples, as the £5.99 for sending it in would add up rather quickly. -
Wow! Never expected for the review go this well. Thank you for all the comments about the ship. And tanks Svelte for helping fix my review. Completely missed that I'd put the wrong number in the title! I have to agree with you, Klaus-Dieter, about a lot of the cons, though I can see why they didn't do the corridor scene. The part with Leia's office is too short to get figs to stand up in while the lid is down, and it's too short to fit a door in. It would have been nice, but I'm sure it won't take long for one of the amazing modders here to get to work on it. I'll see what I can do, darkrebellion. I've moved the Gunship and Endor bunker down to where I took the photos yesterday, but it's too bright in there till the afternoon, for some reason there are no curtains in there, and I can't find any sheets anywhere. If there are any other comparisons that people want, I can do most (though I'm afraid I don't have the Republic Cruiser or the UCS version, yellost). I'm going to photograph my three Leias that I have to hand, but I can already see the faces are slightly different. Looks like I am frontpaged, which is cool (thanks again Svelte!). The wheels work in that when you lift the front slightly, they let you rotate the ship much easier. They don't help in moving it forwards or backwards, and they grip purely by the weight of the Tantive alone pushing down. It's not that exciting a feature (no pushing it along a table to make it look like it's flying), but they do help positioning it on shelves to get the right angle. Almost as long as my review, but I hope this answers some questions that were raised! Edit: And just like that, I can take photos in the room again. Here are a few comparing with the Republic Gunship: Too dark because of the light, but it gives a nice silhouette look to them: Endor Bunker: The four Leias from left to right are the newer X-Wing, Endor Bunker, Death Star and finally Tantive IV: The Leia from the Death Star (left) and the Tantive IV Leia (right): There is a slight difference, but not much. The eyes are slightly smaller, and the lips have been cut on the right hand side slightly, but not enough to contact TLG about though. Have put in a broken piece form for her hair, as that definitely is wrong.

From this: They are new, we just saw them yesterday. The pictures in the video do seem slightly clearer though. Edit: And you've edited quicker than I can post. Oh well. Maybe let others know we already have the pictures before they post them again.

I ordered mine on Friday morning, and it was shipped this morning. Knowing how the post works, it should get here (UK) Wednesday or Thursday, so if no-one else has done anything by then, I'll see what I can do.

The chrome Stormtrooper is now on UK S@H, for £5.20, but is listed as coming out on 30th July. This does mean that it's not actually able to be purchased yet, even as a pre-order.
-
For anyone in the UK without one, TRU are still giving them away for purchases over £40, but this will end soon. Asked a member of staff at the Portsmouth branch about them today, apparently they've had their last lot in, and only have one small box left to go under the tills. Had to ask the cashier to actually get one, but he looked to have about 10 left at that till. As a side note, there were no new sets from what I could see. There were still some Imperial Landing Craft (my choice for the chrome Vader), but mostly overpriced sets that are still on Shop-at-Home.

Sorry, forgot to say that it was a UK email. It seems to be that the Venator is the only one the accept as actually existing now on the UK site, while the others are down as not available in this country.

Just got an email from Lego, and it looks like only the Venator is the only summer set available now. Hopefully the others won't be too long coming though. Oh, and hello. I've been lurking for a while, but this is my first post.
