This is built on the chassis of the main sports car model from the Creator set 6743 'Street Speeders'. It uses mainly parts from that set, alongside the 4 windscreens and a couple of extra green plates. It's a lovely green taxi for my Fabuland pig, Peter.

Yes, that cheeseslope should be green!

    pigstaxi1.jpg

Peter has fitted a particularly confusing number plate, just in case he runs someone over. Try remembering that after a serious head trauma!

    pigstaxi2.jpg

The taxi also has a right-hand side, with a rather large aerial. Compensating for something, Peter?

''What do you mean 'Get out', this isn't where i wanted to go!"

    pigstaxi5.jpg

The beautiful randomly decorated interior. I only had a limited supply of bricks when building, unfortunately that didn't extend to 4 identical jumpers.

It could be seen as a reimagination of this set, but with a less prison like taxi!

    Thanks for looking,

  2. Have I finally lost my mind or has the Emerald Night Collection disappeared from S@H? I can't find it anywhere on the UK one. All the constituent parts are available, but not the discounted collection. I've looked everywhere i can and searched but I can't find it. Does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks,

    Laurie

  3. Thank you very much my Otter friends, I'm gonna get to work on this right away.

Edit: Aha! My train combos should be in my sig now. I tend to mix my small freight and pull it with the engine from 4563. My large freight goes with the engine from 7898. Hopefully I'll be getting the Metroliner fairly soon and my club car can be freed from the middle of the Santa Fe train. I also have some custom wagons that fit in in various places, mainly in my large freight train. I only got my 12v 7735 this week so i'm not sure how it'll integrate.

I'd like to expand my trains with a motor for my My Own Train steam loco, a metroliner and some of the double stack cars. I'd also like to fit a motor to my recovery train.

    Thanks

  4. I spotted the new sports car 8402, the tow truck 7638, the camper 7639 and city life 7641 at toys r us in the UK today. I picked up the cheaper 3 sets and i like them but i'm not completely impressed. It seem that TLG is cutting back on the number of 'unnecessary' bricks in order to keep the prices down. The Sports car has a gaping hole where the dashboard would be in a real car. Now i'm not expecting a little lego brick dashboard, but just a hole is a tad disappointing. I'll probably fill it with the extra 1x2 cheeseslope piece that is reported to come with City Life once I buy that. Some aspects of the tow truck seem a little unfinished too, plus for the first time in all my 17 years of collecting Lego, a set is missing a piece! My tow truck driver is hatless!

I wouldn't really say that the cutbacks take anything away from the sets. They're both well designed, good looking sets. I'm gonna build the camper later, hopefully it'll have all its pieces

  5. Very nice, very 'classic town'. Though that girl on the bike; her hair's not quite on straight. I expect better of you, Hinckley  Perhaps you could add some juckfozzers too? Just joking, it's fantastic Hinckley, lots of friendly waving minifigs :sweet:

  6. [*]Your creation must include one building of the kind that you would see in your classic town. Examples include: Apartments, Businesses, Government Offices, Public Services, Entertainment/Dining or anything else you would like to see in your downtown area.

[*]You must include one vehicle with doors. This can be 4 or 6 wide, but should be appropriate to the setting.

This sounds like a great contest. I'll definately be entering, /i've got plenty of ideas swimming about. Where it says one vehicle and one building, does that mean it must include at least one, or only one?

    Thanks,

    Laurie

  7. I voted for option 2 because option 1 is too much like Town Plan and option 3 seems a bit boring seeing as we're getting the Truck mechanic/garage later this year. Option 2 is also extremely cool and would hopefully feature an expansion of the new bus service, a tram or a monorail. To be honest, that looks like an elevated railway rather than a monorail to me. Either one would be cool.

  8. Very nice, Mr Hinckley, but couldn't it do with a nice juckfozzer or two? I think a really fantastic MOC like this deserves a nice patterned juckfozzer with 1x2 dark bley tiles. Oh yeh, that's the business. Sorry, got a little distracted there. I just meant to say that's a fantastic model, pity you had to cut and glue though. I hope you shed a tear as you did it :cry_sad:

  9. Hydrants in the UK are opened from the side?

They're opened from the top in the US.

We don't have hydrants like that in the UK. I thought they were opened from the top but I wanted it to look like the water was really coming out of the hydrant and so i put the spanner ont he side to act as a rim to hide the end of the hat.

  10. Brickthing, I tried raising the water one plate but then it looks too square for my liking. Looking at the amount of water that thing's leaked I reckon it would've eroded at least a small hole in the pavement by now

    Thanks for the comments everyone

  11. Wow, thanks everyone for the great responses. I was planning this in my head for a little while and had to rebuild it a couple of times to get it right. I'm glad everyone likes it.

The only thing that bothers me a bit is that when you imagine to take the water out, there's a huge drop from the sidewalk to the driveway. Maybe the surface of the water should've been in the equal level to the sidewalk?

I tried a few ways to get around that, but none of them looked quite as good. With the water and juckfozzer level, it just doesn't quite work, it seems like the water should be over the juckfozzer too. I was thinking about putting a barrier at the edge of the juckfozzer to make it seem like a raised pathway beside a busy road but couldn't find the right pieces (my collection is almost completely unsorted!). I'll have another look tomorrow.

Prateek, the car fits very snugly. Cars with the 10x4 car baseplate also fit very nicely as long as the wheels aren't too wide. I'll try to post a picture of another car in there tomorrow.

    Thanks everyone,

    Laurie

  12. Uh well I don't post that often so I wasn't too worried about posting my 100th by accident. I posted a MOC in Trains & Town for my 100th, but it wasn't the EB building I was planning. That's ended up much larger than I first imagined so it's taking some time.

I've seen other people use the blue witch's hat as pouring water and I wanted to try it for myself. I had the idea of a broken hydrant spewing water onto a juckfozzer and it grew into this, a fully flooded street!

A fire crew struggle to shut off the hydrant

    flood1.jpg

I gave the car a little wake to make it look like it's moving

    flood3.jpg

The witch's hat water and slot for cars. Most 4 wide vehicles will fit in

    flood4.jpg

Ready for your close up Mr Hydrant?

    flood5.jpg

The photos are smaller than I intended, they came out of the camera at 640x480 rather than the normal far too large size. I must have pressed something!

    Thanks for looking,

    Laurie

  14. What you can't tell from the pictures is that the inside is in fact fully modelled, any of it unfortunately

Seriously I think the size of it is impressive but it lacks details. Not using slopes for the diagonal windows at the rear is one thing that lets it down.

  15. This guy creates some fantastic MOCs. I've never seen this amazing station before, but I often look at his MOCs for inspiration. His rolling stock looks fantastic and he uses decals really well. This station is the best i've ever seen, the colours work perfectly. I've never seen so many brown roof tiles in my life!

  16. Well here's the plan for the final adjustments, yellow striping on the front and maybe the back and custom red buffers. The buffers will be red 1x1 cylinders with black round 2x2 plates with rounded bottoms.

    class08shunterldd.jpg

Not too sure about the striping at the back, don't like the windows in the way.

    brclass08ldd2.jpg

I'm gonna order the bricks soon to finish it, it's half done at the moment, but ran out of 1x1 yellow n black plates.

    Thanks for looking,

    Laurie
