  1. Saw man of steel today!!! Was a truly ground-breaking incredible film. Lego's sets are very accurate not a single one doesn't match up with a certain action sequence! Even the figure's costumes for each set are accurate to that certain scenes on which the set is based. There are a few other cool sequences that did not grace Lego form involving Russell Crowe's jor el that were truly breath-taking so that is a bit sad but at least they made a jor el figure in the first place. Kudos Lego! On this line of sets you have really done the film proud, shame the same could not be said about iron man 3!

I must agree! I've got to go pick up Black Zero Escape now :D

  2. The torso printing makes me think it's the Heartbreaker suit. There's not enough tan for it to be the new Extremis armor (Mark XLII) from the pictures that were posted above. Brickipedia labels it the Hearbreaker, if that counts for anything (which I doubt it does). This suit definitely looks interesting... I'm interested to see the suit that comes with the mansion, though.

  3. Same thing happened to me. I just received my short cape in the mail...even though TLG assured me they would send along a standard cape. I'm going to contact TLG to see what's up.

    EDIT:

Just got off the phone with TLG and they noticed they sent out a short cape instead of a long one and are now sending the new cape in the mail. I'll let you all know if they do send out the corrected item or not.

I know I'll be looking forward to your response. I sent them a message asking about the cape (even offering to pay for it )and they said they couldn't correct the cape at that time.

  4. There is an application form? Why doesn't the 'leaflet' say anything about that? I was going to wait until the last minute to submit my ideas.

A few other things - does it have to have illustrations, or can it be a text-only suggestion? And do I have to send an e-mail asking for the application to fill in?

No illustrations required. There are a few blanks to fill in on the template and the release form to sign, but that's all. And yes, you have to send an email asking for the materials.

  5. For some reason the Hobbit mini site is very bare bones on my laptop. On the homepage, I just see a empty space where the map should be, none of the designer videos show up, and I can't scroll along to view the character bios. Does anyone have the Mirkwood designer video posted on Youtube or something?

I looked and couldn't find it on YouTube yet. I found the official Lego channel, and all the other videos are on there, but no Mirkwood video yet. I will definitely be getting the set.

  6. The original owner lived through WWII, nothing pretty there. LEGO is very much against any military. But other than that the theme sounds strong.

a Lego exec recently told me that in some countries where Lego is sold, there are soildiers on the streets and some of the Jets and Tanks we would like models of might be activly bombing or shelling their country.

Yeah, that's what I kind of expected. I wasn't sure how many countries Lego sold to like that, and I didn't want just another agents-type theme. The vehicles would all be more toward the sci-fi end, anyway. How would you suggest changing the military aspect out in order to not be another repeat theme?

  7. I am very excited to offer up some ideas and hopefully they get chosen. I would love to recieve free sets, factory tours, royalties, etc, but I will be submitting my theme idea with no expectation of compensation and anything that might come my way is just a bonus.

A memeber of my LUG was a co-creator of the Mindcraft Cussoo project. Normally he would have recieved a royalty of the sales which have been beyond TLC expectations but at the beginning of the Cussoo procedure it was agreed that the proceeds would go to charity as part of the license deal. my friend did get a few copies of the sets he helped create but wont get any money from his labors. The pride and recognition from being a creator have probably exceeded his aspirations. I would love to be able to say I came up with an idea like Ninjago but on the same token, i feel bad for the creator of Galidor.

Hopefully if a theme is chosen, the creator will be proud of their accomplishments and if anything else comes their way, bonus!

Sir Nagek, my feedback for you would be to trim the US Military angle as TLC won't touch modern military themes and being "American" might be too narrow as opposed to a generic affiliation

    Play Well,

Yeah, generic. Thanks! I'm not sure what they would have against modern military, though...

  8. I've got the basic idea for my theme idea and wanted to post it for some input, if you don't mind, before I submit it. I'm trying to decide on a good theme title, and wondering if my story idea is too complex for the target age or too close to previous themes. This is only the first draft, so any grammatical errors or unclear sentences are entirely accidental.

"Theme name: Eagle Brigade or Team Eagle

Story premise: The U.S. Military experiment soldiers make up Team Eagle/Eagle Brigade. Accompanied by standard soldiers, including spec-ops units, they are sent to combat a threat that first arises in a small desert town before spreading across the globe. That is, unless they can stop it before it starts. What is this threat? It is a computer virus created by a pair of renegade scientists. This virus is capable of producing life-sized, transparent manifestations that can be humanoid or beast. They can construct any vehicle from computer terminals and/or electrical energy. They can also hijack any vehicle and it will run for them. But there is a formula/code key, stored deep in a vault that, if found, will wipe all computer systems in the world. It will defeat the enemy, but at a cost that makes it the last resort. Can the soldiers defeat the virus and its creators without resorting to their last option?

Main trigger points: Team Eagle/Eagle Brigade is equipped with wing-packs, which are similar to jetpacks only feature mechanical wings. They also have other high-tech weaponry and almost sci-fi-type gear. This theme also has clear-cut sides, with the evil appearing stronger than the good. Potential for different vehicles and transforming elements in vehicles, locations, or brick-built figures."

  9. I think that 76006 Iron Man Extremis could very well be another buildable action figure, as Iron Man's new suit is the Extremis armor. Not sure what Lego will do with the rings, but the mansion might have a destruction function or two like in the Helm's Deep and Mines of Moria sets, considering it gets destroyed.

  10. I think they arent finished with the game quite yet, and when thats done theres a whole process of being approved by all the console maker, and then they can start printing the discs.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, or maybe there was also a delay in producing the Elrond figures for the pre-orders.

  11. Hi! I just recently started looking here for Lego news, and kept getting linked to it by my friend, Masked-Builder, especially regarding the Hobbit/LOTR and Marvel Superheroes. I live in Somewhere, United States and hadn't bought any Lego recently until I was able to get the Captain America, Shelob, and Gandalf Arrives sets. At eighteen, I'll be graduating in May and have to keep a balance between saving for college and acquiring Lego  . Anyway, it's nice to be here!

  12. I would be more tempted if the set had been more detailed and somewhere around $70-$80 (which is a little expensive for me), but now I'll just have to hope the minifigures aren't too expensive separately. It's sad, since TDKR was such a good movie. I wonder if Warner Bros/Christopher Nolan likes what Lego did with their vehicles :sceptic:
