  1. According to Tolkien's words, Minas Morgul is one of the most interesting and mysterious locations of Middle Earth. Jackson did a terrible job reproducing that, with al the black masonry and the green lights -.-' Tolkien mentions the entire city is actually pale white, like moonlight without light (Minas Morgul was Minas Ithil, which means Moon in high elvish), an emptied city but full of death and dread. Jackson clearly got carried away, it's a really poor adaptation, wouldn't be of great interest to see that in UCS scale, and I doubt we would ever get such set.

  2. Dudes, SW gets a UCS reveal this time every year. Released in time for May the 4th. Orthanc will come... sometime... (hopefully not until I can afford it)

When I realized this LOTR wave only had 4 sets, I kinda started hoping there's some hidden set to go along. I have no doubt that this is real, people are already losing faith lol. Never mess with Grogall, guys..

  3. The way the ship as a whole appears to have been designed reminds me more of an oversized System model than what I would consider to be a true dedicated UCS model.

At some point, someone will look at the SW licence and realize that you can't invent the wheel twice, or thrice... (and I love Lego SW, and buy lots of sets).

  4. I think people just like to bash on it simply because it's not a fully enclosed set and isn't t the best display as such

The reason why I dislike that set is because i don't consider the building process to be pleasant, or motivating, compared to other sets. In that aspect, I consider the two little sets to be more appealing, as building experiences, but I understand your argument, and the scale issue sure is a win, but not enough for me to recommend that set to someone.

  5. I thought Riddles for the Ring is a great little set. I really liked Gandalf's cart too. They represent their scene perfectly, unlike some other sets. *cough Goblin King cough*

Goblin King is a poor achievement but again, this is one of the rare cases where the flagship set is not the most expensive one. Bag End clearly is a winner. I would really like to see more hobbiton sets, but I guess not.

  6. Bag End and Shelob. And if they don't have Bag End, just replace it with Mines of Moria.

I would never get The Mines of Moria, one of the poorest sets I've built, but Shelob is a winner!

I just heard about the discount on the Goblin King set - is there any chance we will see even cheaper prices for that set, or has such a thing never or rarely occurred?

I've been considering to get one for the pieces and 3 extra goblins (since I'm already getting the full set of figures from a trade), but I'm wondering if it has a chance of ever getting cheaper than €58.

I say get it, even if it does get cheaper, I don't think it'll be much cheaper than that.

  7. I don't know that we know that for sure. Remember Lego was originally rigged and planned out for 2 movies, not 3. Jackson added the third at the last minute, and messed up all of the licensed producers release schedules big time.

    (...)

With some sets being top sellers (unexpected gathering) and some being disappointing (riddles for the ring).

You're right hadn't seen things that way, but in any case, I think that Lego wil never ditch the licence before producing some sets based on the third movie. As for the sets you mentioned, I actually think that Gandalf's Arrival and Riddles for the Ring are two of the best sets of each line. I would choose Gandalf's arrival over Mines of Moria, easily. Clever design, reproduces the scene faithfully. The same thing for Riddles.. had more pleasure building that than the Goblin King, which I'm still trying to finish but find boring as hell.

  8. I'm also a collector and not very happy to get remakes,

Its funny, one of the things I like the most as a collector is to have different versions of the same ship / minifig / building. Its really cool to see the differences, almost as if you can see Lego's design logic evolving between sets and years :) I really like both my versions of Luke's landspeeder, it's really cool to compare both ships!

I don't buy UCS Lego because I can't afford those sets. The only set I would get would be a Slave I, because of it's aggressive and uncanny design. As for the Sandcrawler, which someone said before that it isn't an iconic vehicle, couldn't disagree more.

  9. I believe it is 1 point for 1 of whatever currency you're buying in.

This is always unfair to European buyers. I get nothing from Lego because it's standard price plus €11.95 for shipping to Portugal... I get discounted sets (25% to 35% from amazon...) with free shipping. Even lego can't compete with that, and it is a bit sad to watch the prices in the US :/ The VIP program could help to diminish that difference for european buyers. If its a 1 currency = 1 point logic, be reminded that €1 = $1.335, as an european citizen I pay more than american fans for the same privileges.

  10. We already know there will be at least one more Hobbit wave

I would say we know for sure that we'l get TWO more hobbit waves, one for the second movie ("The Desolation of Smaug") and another one for the third and final movie ("There and back again"). After that, we'll see. As for the LOTR line, I sincerely don't know for how long it is going to live, but AFOL collectors enjoy it a lot, MOC'ers (Pirate and Castle) enjoy it a lot, as for kids. I actually think they're more likely to prefer to get something they see on a movie, like the hobbit.
