  1. Oh heck with it, let's just say that those games are all the Time Cruisers' and Time Twisters's fault.

And now in my personal canon, Baron Typhonus from LEGO Universe was a Time Twister. Thank you.

At first I wasn't sure what to think about LEGO Battles' placement in the timeline, since the Mars Mission was supposed to be an expedition for alternative energy to provide to Earth, and LEGO Battles had it start accidentally. But it shows that they were originally on course to one of Saturn's moons (probably Titan) so I assume that the original plan was to mine resources from there instead of Mars.

So, just to write down what I have in my head, here's how the timeline goes:

Space Port (takes place somewhere close to Life on Mars, maybe at the same time)

Life on Mars (takes place in 2001)

City Space (modern space program, probably 2011)

Alien Conquest (confirmed to be set in 2011)

After this point, continuity gets a bit tricky to place. Everything between Classic Space and Space Police III takes place within 30 years, if a certain statue's inscription is to be trusted.

Classic Space (space explorers/whatever you want them to be)

Futuron (space explorers), Blacktron (space pirates) and Space Police I (space law enforcement) all take place at around the same time.

Blacktron II and M-Tron (civilians that produced advanced computers and technology) very shortly after introduction of the previous three, as they coexist at this time.

Space Police II formed shortly afterwards to deal with the threat of the advanced Blacktron II.

Ice Planet mission is launched on Krysto to use it as a communication hub (I think). Blacktron II still confirmed to exist. No sign of Futuron or M-Tron.

Spyrius (space criminals specializing in espionage) and Unitron (militaristic coalition of united galactic people) now exist during the Ice Planet mission.

Exploriens (scientists researching alien civilizations) are formed and exist alongside Spyrius. Space Police II, Ice Planet and Unitron are seemingly unaccounted for. Exploriens are a bit iffy if you're going by UK continuity.

Roboforce (defense and colonization group that uses piloted mecha) and UFO forces (aliens) do battle as UFO attempts to attack Earth. Also iffy if you're using UK continuity, as Bricks n Pieces says that UFO is a group of heroic crusaders from across space, robots and organics alike, united against an unseen mechanical empire that threatens to destroy the galaxy.

Insectoids (cyborg aliens) now suddenly exist alongside Roboforce, Exploriens, UFO, Spyrius and... Aquazone. If the re-release of certain small sets are to be trusted, then Space Police II, Spyrius and Ice Planet still exist at this time.

At an unclear time after all of this, the Mars Mission (quest for alternative energy for Earth) is launched. It is confirmed to: a) take place in "the near future," b) take place after Blacktron II, and c) take place alongside Space Police III. This retroactively places all other space themes before this in the near future, showing that the advancement of LEGO technology can happen rather fast. Just look at the ADU tech they had in 2011!

The beginning of Space Police III operations marks the 30 year anniversary of mankind ascending to the stars and colonizing new worlds.

At an unknown point in time, a continuity headache involving Monster Fighters happens humanity is threatened by an alien race once more, the buggoids and mosquitoids. The Galaxy Squad is assembled against this threat.

I guess it's not a whole lot different from other time lines presented here, but it takes into account some of the facts presented in this topic.

  2. Here's those Life on Mars radio logs. A couple are missing though.

I like to assume that Alien Conquest is near-future like Mars Mission, since the human tech, like the weaponry, is just like the armaments of Classic Space's Galaxy Patrol and the Galaxy Squad (but this can just be explained by the fact that LEGO made a cool gun and wants to use it more!). There is a bit of evidence suggesting it's in 2011 though: a summer 2011 issue of LEGO Club Magazine had multiple "news articles" about the alien invasion. I distinctly remember at least one of the articles (printed in a newspaper format on the page) being dated to 2011. However, LEGO is definitely loose with their canon, and they could easily say it is in another time if they wanted to.

Another thing I remembered: Space Police III definitely takes place after I and II. In the stop motion movies for SPIII, the police headquarters has the previous uniforms of the police on display. This seems like something that wouldn't need to be brought up, but in Clutch Powers, it shows a lot of SPIII stuff... and the protagonists have Mars Mission astronaut suits. Also, LEGO Battles has Space Police III active during the Mars Mission, but the events that transpired during that are different than those previously told in the Mars Mission story... hmm...

  3. I'd just like to add a few tidbits of information that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

The description of the Space Police III Galactic Enforcer states that the Classic Space statue is a statue of the "first LEGO Space astronaut." This could very easily be a reference to the fact that it is simply designed after the first Space minifigures produces, but it's right in the middle of the description of the set's conflict. Keeping that in mind, this would bring some... interesting complications concerning where Classic Space is on the timeline compared to Space Port, Life on Mars, City Space, etc. We know that Life on Mars definitely takes place in or around 2001 (in the Life on Mars radio logs, Cassiopeia made reference to the The War of the Worlds radio play as being a real Martian invasion happening somewhere around "60 or 70 years ago").

We also know that Mars Mission takes place "in the near future," as stated in a LEGO Magazine comic. This may or may not be after Classic Space. Also, the Intergalactic Girl from Series 6 of the Collectible Minifigures has her Classic Space logo in the Mars Mission colors, where the Spaceman has the original, more familiar colors. We also know that Blacktron is still around, since the Intergalactic Girl has taken down entire Blacktron space fleets by herself as stated in her bio. AND she's battled the Space Villainess, who's the leader of the Alien Conquest invaders.

In set 6704 "Space Mini Figures," Blacktron I and II are shown coexisting with Space Police I and M-Tron. Looks like the late '80s and early '90s sets were intended to be in the same time period.

M-Tron also still exists in Space Police III, as stated in the 2010 police logs.

Just figured I should mention those!

EDIT: did some fact checking about the Life on Mars stuff - I had remembered Arcturus simply talking about the radio play, not remembering it was actually an invasion launched under his rule as Martian leader.

  4. Hmm, neat video. Bionicle was pretty cool, but I still like Hero Factory better, what with better plastic quality and how easy it is to make new characters. I like how you can tell in the original concept that the island of Mata Nui was a face.

  5. and even the BIONICLE movies approached death more often as noble self-sacrifice than as characters just being one more notch on the weapon, so to speak.

The books and online stories sure as hell didn't make it like that though. It's like characters meant literally nothing to Farshtey.

I do like the fact that there is a much darker, more serious villain character now. He actually seems like a threat. But I don't like that things are made "realistic" when you add violence and murder to it. Just doesn't really do much for me.

  6. I think it was confirmed that Ninjago is a planet all of its own, created by Sensei Wu's father. Clutch probably traveled to it on one of his adventures like he traveled to the Castle planet. The series still might take place in the future, but not far, I think.

Either way, it was a neat reference.

That's probably true. Clutch goes on lots of adventures to get treasure all over the place, so he probably just happened to find the fang blade on an expedition on Ninjago. It seems like Ninjago is supposed to be in the future, maybe it takes place alongside LEGO Space? Clutch Powers did have futuristic tech in it, and the Space Police were there.

I also noticed that the ninjas in their "true potential" forms have glowing light blue eyes. Reminds me of Pure Imagination from LEGO Universe.

Maybe we'll see stuff about Kai's parents in the episode in which he unlocks his true potential? I really like these stories relating to the character's lives before their adventure.

EDIT: Also, mention of Lloyd's grandmother in his blog? The wife of the First Spinjitzu Master is still alive?!?

  7. Although such a skip would seem totally convoluted and unnatural as the theme has never done it before between waves.

I might just be remembering something incorrectly, but to me it seemed implied that Savage Planet took place quite a long time after Ordeal of Fire...

A Villain Factory seems like a strange idea but I think it could work. I would really like to see a wave where the Heroes fight the produced robots of such a factory.

Is it just me or is the story getting way better than it was for the first year and a half?

  8. It's not that we want him to be similar, we just want some answers to questions and plotholes left by the (pooly written) Rise of the Rookies series of episodes. Then we could find out his motive, instead of non-specific revenge...

See, this is what I want. I want all the necessary plot holes to be filled. But what I was thinking people wanted was for Nebula to be in control of everything. How would you like to see...

The fire villains were sent by Von Nebula to get rid of the Hero Pod fuel as part of his plan to take down Hero Factory!

Witch Doctor went to Quatros to take all the quaza to power up Von Nebula for his fight against the Hero Factory!

Or does that only sound stupid to me? :look:

  9. I think Nebula will be like Takutanuva, consisting of Nebula himself and lost many years ago hero Thresher. IMO.

    You know what I think?

I think that LEGO shouldn't have to cater to all the Bionicle fans and make the Hero Factory guys representations of that theme. Nebula should be a fresh, original villain, and the heroes should be fresh, original heroes. I don't like the idea of Nebula serving the same purpose as Makuta (I refuse to call him Teridax. 2003 Bionicle ftw), always staying in the sidelines manipulating absolutely everything.

  10. Hi Aanchir,

I just noticed, has there ever been a point you really disliked something about Ninjago or other line because in all posts I read from you it is positive.

    Just noticing. ;)

because I can not phantom how daeom red-yellow eyed Cole looks stylish...

And I can tell from your posts that you've made on this thread that you don't like Ninjago.

  11. Anybody remember that little Hero Factory booklet that came with a LEGO magazine back in 2010? It said in Surge's bio that "he fears he will end up going over to the side of evil." Think this might have any impact on the 2012 story or beyond?

  12. This whole ninjago line is quite big fail for TLC.

First, I don't understand what age of kids should play with this? It's not suitable for younger boys 'cause it have a lot of inapropriate creatures, stories about killing etc. It has gone too far from LEGO main idea of creative playing. This Ninjago theme couldn't be placed anywhere in human history (maybe some SF Post-apoc, but..), it has no eductional purpose and those vehicles and creatures are quite stupid, even they are builded from lego basic bricks. Story is just taken form TMNT and similar cartoons...

For AFOLs this theme is great, because it comes with lot of interesting and useful parts in different colours, new minifigs etc. But I think TLC Designer Team made this theme for younger players, not MOC builders.

Previous Ninja theme was much better, even bulidings and vehicles weren't so complicated. But they did have playability and eductional purpose.

This is definitely aimed at kids. It follows the same formula as all the other popular modern children's toys like Bakugan... anime-inspired themes that have toys that are used in a game that involves cards. The kids love 'em, that's why Ninjago sells so well.

There have been absolutely no "on-screen" deaths in Ninjago, only a couple mentioned, like how Kai's father passed away naturally. I think the skeleton characters have always been dead, it's been said that their homeland is the Underworld, so I assume they were made there. So they weren't people that were killed as far as I know.

  13. Breeze is a gay. Dam dam dam dam. And he is pregnant. Seriously XD With Surge... or Furno... You know there was a small mission to an abandoned planet and... yeah...I think I said enough.

    Omg I'm crazy today xD

She will have small Brezzies :3

BTW: I think they should make it more femine like Roodaka. She was quite a nice chick as a Bionicle character of course. Sidorak liked her veeery much :P Her feet were also femine. So, I think they shall improve her desing in HF sets. But that's only my idea.

    :hmpf_bad:

To be honest I'm fine Breez not being too overly feminine, she's a robot designed for combat scenarios, do you really expect her to be accurate to a human female? Though it would be nice to see a female villain set in the future with a Roodaka-esque appearance.

  14. Some of that concept art (one picture of each enemy creature) was featured in one issue of LEGO Club Magazine, but it's neat seeing the creatures from more angles. The Bone Vulture is possibly my favorite: its head and beak seem based on a certain BIONICLE minifigure head (Link) flipped around backwards, although that head piece doesn't fit too snugly on a minifigure skeleton torso since the BIONICLE minifigure heads only have a one-stud-deep anti-stud and then a receptacle for a 3.2mm bar.

So much creativity went into LEGO Universe... I never played the game and don't think I'd enjoy it enough for it to be worthwhile for me, but it's still a shame to see it go.

I wonder if there will at any point be another Ninjago video game. LEGO Battles: Ninjago was pretty excellent, although its graphics are a bit lacking like its predecessor LEGO Battles. A game in full 3-D would be cool, although one wonders what it would cover: just one year of story like LEGO Battles: Ninjago, or perhaps a larger adventure summarizing multiple stories like many of the licensed LEGO games?

It is indeed that Bionicle head, good eye. I've seen an early render of the Bone Vulture with that head, but the final version (which was still not implemented in an update due to cancellation) has a white UFO alien helmet as its head.

I stopped playing LEGO Universe very early on, there wasn't much content to keep me going, I plowed through it really fast, and it was far too expensive. However, I stayed very interested in the story behind it and the content that they kept adding, but I didn't feel it necessary to keep playing. The Ninjago stuff they were planning was gonna be so cool. There would have been a boss battle against Garmadon where the Darkitect powers him up, giving him the ability to use Maelstrom spinjitzu.

Picked up LEGO Battles: Ninjago on Christmas, it's a pretty good game. It seems a bit less difficult than the first LEGO Battles game, but it's still really neat. The cutscenes are really cool, and I like that it has the same story as the cartoon but expands upon it much further. Another game based on the Rise of the Snakes saga would be cool.

    640px-Skulkin_maelstromBeetle_concepts.jpg

Maelstrom-Armored Bone Beetle. Not sure how this one is possible, as beetles don't have endoskeletons...

And, for some background information: The Maelstrom serves as the main antagonist of LEGO Universe. It's controlled by The Darkitect, a corrupted version of the man who accidentally unleashed the Maelstrom onto the world. This so-called Darkitect is trying to infect the universe with his Maelstrom, and in the most recent update (from September or October), it revealed that he's struck something of an accord with Lord Garmadon and his skeleton army. He told Garmadon of the Maelstrom's power, so the skeleton army used some Maelstrom-infected ore embedded in the rock on a world called Crux Prime to forge Maelstrom armor and weapons. The Maelstrom apparently makes the natives of Ninjago dizzy and ill, so the skeletons have the upper hand against them using their new gear. Apparently in a future update they were going to give some of this armor to the wildlife of the Underworld and sic them on Ninjago.
