I think people are making a connection to the Hidden Side Castle because it’s literally the closest thing to any HP set we’ve seen. With some heavy modifications it could be turned into something for Hogwarts but it won’t do as is

Have we seen any clearer images than those on #legoleaks?

I can see how a flashback within a prequel might be just a bit too far from the main storyline to warrant its own set, but now I'm picturing a 2-in-1 desk/dragon build that could be truly amazing!

If I could pick just one scene from CoG that I'd want to see as a set, though - Circus Arcanus, hands down (with a brick-built Zouwu, of course). I was genuinely a bit surprised something like that wasn't in the August 2019 wave.

I would love the Circus too!! I think more FB sets would create more variation amongst the Wizarding World theme - and which kids wouldn’t want a magical circus set with a huge beast, even if they hadn’t seen the film?

OK well maybe it was someone lying or starting drama. I still want Jacob's bakery from the fist movie as a set.

This ???? It’s my next MOC!

I personally loved both FB sets - the suitcase really over-delivered on my expectations (they weren’t high!). I never understood either why LEGO didn’t do a DADA classroom set with Youngledore, young Newt and Leta. It’s an iconic location from the HP films and the boggart scene is a really notable scene from the third HP film. So you’d get most HP fans picking up one to recreate a HP scene. Seemed like an obvious no-brainer to me but LEGO maybe missed the boat here!

I personally hope for more FB sets. I’d love to see more brickbuilt beasts because I love Frank the Thunderbird and the Occamy builds.

Well if you're interested in it @Cut the Kragle made a very cool pitch for a LEGO Harry Potter movie a while back (funny coincidence: this video is exactly 2 years old today!). Highly recommend watching it, even if it'll never happen :sweet:

That’s amazing, I’ll definitely go give it a watch thanks! I remember - for Dimensions I think - that a LEGO version of the Fantastic Beasts movie was released, which was pretty cool.

Same here, especially considering a lot of effort goes into making sets for those movies. The sets we got for TLBM are easily the best DC sets we've ever gotten.

This deal with Universal does open up the possibility of a LEGO Jurassic World movie, which I would personally love to see!

Exactly - and the sets would be completely new as well because a new storyline. Ah well - I’m happy LEGO are releasing more films in general, just would have been the icing on the cake for it to be HP!

The chances of a LEGO Harry Potter movie are now pretty much nonexistent. Harry Potter is owned by Warner Brothers, the previous company to have the exclusive right to make LEGO movies (that's why Voldemort could appear in The LEGO Batman Movie). Universal doesn't own the Harry Potter movies

Ahh right gotcha. Damn, I would have loved that!

People posting their MOCs has inspired me to post the start of mine. It's ta modern equivalent of The Final Challenge from Philosopher's Stone; I had started with The Forbidden Corridor and then Devil's Snare, working down, but decided it's easier to work backwards and build up.

    Imgur link to photo

It's a work in progress (very tan at the moment, I'll be sure to add in some different colours and textures for variety, especially as not all the pieces are available in tan and it looks kinda bland right now!) so I will make quite a few small alterations. I wanted to have black flames like the books (and then purple flames before the potion challenge that's cut from the films) but don't think the flame exists in that colour so had to settle with orange. It's got pins to context with the rest of the sections (Potion Riddle, Wizard's Chess, Winged Keys, Devil's Snare and Fluffy in the Forbidden Corridor - don't think I'll do the empty troll room!) The curves were a pain to get on the steps - I had to use a complicated SNOT technique to get the top steps to line up, and I'm pleased how it turned out but not sure how stable/legal it'd be in real life! I'd like to add pillars going round (they're very decorative in the movie) but don't want to hinder accessibility. Of course the Mirror of Erised is ripped straight out of the Great Hall set - which is awkwardly placed in there!

Currently at 189 pieces. Think the whole thing's going to bigger than I expected!

Edit: ooh looks like trans purple flames do exist - I was using 6126b instead of 6126!

    Looks really good!!!

That’s a brilliant Christmas display! Always loved those Christmas sets, they all feel so comforting and merry and just warm and happy despite their snowy setting, always wanted the Santa’s grotto and winter village train sets- which you could swap out the train for and put the hogwarts express in, using he station as hogsmeade station! Looks brilliant tho!

That’s what I’ve done with the Winter Train Station! Bought that as a stand alone on eBay rather than buying the entire set!

This looks absolutely wonderful! It’s really well built and accurate- I could definitely see something like this in a large hogsmeade set with a couple extra buildings and some benches and lamps etc. keep up the good work!

    Thank you!

Wow! Those are absolutely as high quality as official Lego ones! I would totally buy that if it were real. Shall look forward to the Instagram!

I wish I had enough bricks to build a MOC like this, unfortunately I have to make it in Studio which isn't quite so intuitive and also not quite so much fun. I hope to finish some MOCs sometime though and BL the parts.

Thank you! It means a lot that otter people can enjoy my MOCs too ? I’m a bit of a perfectionist though so always changing things.

Studio is really good for a lot of things like parts lists and instructions, but there always has to be some element of free build with actual bricks!

how do we know that the Burrow is likely to be a retail exclusive?

    Would love to see that!

Apologies the pictures are blurry! I don’t seem to be able to attach large images - anyone have any ideas?

My brother and I are hoping to set up an Instagram for our LEGO builds, so we’ve been spending quarantine taking A LOT of pictures for it ?

I mean they’re blurry because I had to save them as small images before uploading!

LEGO just revealed a new Technic set for june 1st so I'd say HP shouldn't be far behind

    This is good news!

i love having time to complete MOCs (just finished Honeydukes!) but I sure am ready for a new HP set.

A bit otter tangent, but saw someone saying they’re interested in the Chinese New Year sets - I started building Temple Fair last night and it’s absolutely gorgeous ?

Wow I love it, really cool! The colour scheme is great as well. Once DA comes out I've considered making some MOCs too if I have the time but I'll have to get some pieces lol

I find it’s best to build digitally on Bricklink Studio and from there you can an order the specific pieces you need :)

I really like it! If the D2C was a whole bunch of buildings with that style of interior and then slightly bigger interiors for the major shops, I'd be really happy.

Thank you! I tried to keep it to a similar build to ollivanders - smaller base with the floor above overhanging to creat that sense of DA from the films

  13. I love hearing everyone’s thoughts on the rumoured DA D2C set!! I’ve nearly finished a Florean Fortescues MOC (so really hoping that isnt included!) but it’s one of the more obscure DA shops. I really like the idea of side builds for some of the lesser-known shops (like an ice cream cart for FF, wizard hats for MM, owls for EOE, cauldrons for Pottages etc.). I was planning to do more DA MOCs but putting that on pause until the D2C is confirmed/revealed ?

In terms of improving the 2011 DA set (which I still have), I’d like to see more of the stickers as prints - especially for Gringotts and Ollivanders at least. This, for me, would be a real improvement.

Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but it though this would be the best place for it! So is it just me, or does the new Gingerbread house look like it could be heavily modified (I.E. remove the candy features and introduce tan tiles over windows, renovate the exterior fireplace, and such) into the Shrieking Shack?

    48764275727_2824c5a03b_z.jpg

(not my picture, it;'s from Brickset's review of the set)

The white piping con the walls ould stay, as could the rooftop snow and brown framework, but what about the rest? What would be good for windows, for example? I was thinking about trying it out in LDD once the instructions get released...

I would say that it probably looks a lot closer to the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade than the Shrieking Shack.

The most obvious opportunity is if they ever remake the Troll Attack set, since that’s really the only time in the movies when we really get to see the Hogwarts Halloween decorations. It would make for a great little twentieth anniversary set in 2021.

Since the sets have made a comeback, I’ve been desperate for remakes of the Troll Attack and the Forbidden Corridor with Fluffy. But seeing as variants of those are in the Build Your Own Adventure book, I doubt that they will have their own designated sets now.

Both creatures would require brand new moulds (or some new moulded pieces at least for Fluffy’s heads)

I just noticed that the build your own adventure book only contains scenes from Philosophers stone, hopefully that would mean more could come in the following years, with each book coming with a different minifigure and mini set depicting a small scene from that movie, with the actual book showing designs based off of that movie/book.

i was thinking something like the dueling club with Draco for year two,  a portion of the wooden bridge with Hermione for year three, and some Quidditch World Cup tents with Ron for year four. What do you all think?

I think this is a really good idea for keeping the theme “evergreen”, so to speak. I don’t think that the HP line has problems with popularity (the advent calendar demonstrates this) so hopefully we will see more expansions like this.

They could be the 2HY wave :shrug_oh_well:

    1. it is very early, but apparently possible
    2. we got confirmation that the theme continues at least (not surprising)
    3. probably some limited sets in addition to those 4 then

I think it is more likely they are from a new winter wave  The question then is which films are they from:

    1. 5-6? could be we get 2 waves from those movies, it is not like we have gotten plenty of sets from those in the past anyway
    2. 3-4? Still a lot of sets they could make and Gabrielle has the "sleeping" face after all
    3. 1-4? missing sets from the first 4 movies :excited:

1-4 would be good as you could get one set from each! Fluffy, Chamber of Secrets, Shrieking Shack and Second Task.
