It is the Disney tie in that made this set possible, I bet for every train fan who buys it, there will be 9 Disney fans who buy it. But hopefully some of those nine will turn in to a train fan as a result. As far as the locomotive goes, in my eye it does not look any better than the Lone Ranger locomotive, but that is in part because the Lone Ranger (after adding rods) is a pretty good little locomotive.

    I concur.

For those who can’t stand Disney, there’s nothing stopping you changing the appearance of the train, including removing the Disney branding.

In fact, that’s half the fun - trying to improve the existing train. For example, for the white 60051 train, I added a first class carriage (6 x 28) with fewer seats and bigger tables with a coffee machine, free newspapers tiles and free biscuits (would have preferred croissants, but didn’t have enough space). ?

  2. I’m quite excited with the Disney train despite the negatives (price, new inferior wheels).

I’ll probably try to buy the train on eBay (not interested in the station) and go about in modifying it to change it from 8 wide to the traditional 6 wide to fit in with my other trains.

  3. Hi all

I've created the discontinued Passenger Train 60051 in a dark green and orange livery.

I had to put colour coordinated stickers on the train front to give it a smoother look.

(Sorry - problems with previous attempt to start this topic)

It needed colour coordinated stickers on the train front to give it a smoother look:

  4. Hi, I'm new here.

    My first official post.

I've just noticed that the carriages of the passenger train 60197 are one plate (one third of a brick) taller than the carriages of its predecessor 60051. I suppose this allows the minifigures to wear taller hats as they walk through the carriages to take their seats!
