  1. After watching the Black Adam movie, I definitely wish that LEGO had given us a 2-3 set wave for it.  The Intergang Hovercraft, Hawk Cruiser, and a buildable Atom Smasher would have been no-brainers for set builds.  At least Spin Master was willing to do the two vehicles.

  2. I think how in-depth this theme gets largely depends on both how well the sets sell (I'm not quite sure how well the current wave is selling), and how much TWOW makes at the box office (for what it's worth, I think the recent rerelease of the first movie made over $70 million at the box office).  If Avatar can prove it can sustain being a big franchise beyond one movie, I wouldn't completely rule out stuff like UCS sets or a CMF series.

  3. According to Jedi JAC Penguin, the sets labeled as classic are:

    Set: 43212 - {? TBA Classic Disney Animation ?}
        • Includes 200 pieces
        • US $39.99 - DE/FR €39.99 - UK £TBA
        • Release: APRIL 1ST 2023

     Set: 43217 - {? TBA Classic Disney Animation ?}
        • Includes 598 pieces
        • US $54.99 - DE/FR €54.99 - UK £TBA
        • Release: APRIL 1ST 2023

    Set: 43220 - {? TBA Classic Disney Animation ?}
        • Includes 111 pieces
        • US $19.99 - DE/FR €19.99 - UK £TBA
        • Release: MARCH 1ST 2023

    No clue which movies they might be from, especially at those price points.

  4. It begins...(again)

    I won't be complaining if Bag End is a D2C, considering the old set is practically going for D2C prices currently anyways.

    LOTR has great potential for D2C sets overall, considering how many notable massive locations there are (The two towers, Rivendell, Helm's Deep, Minas Tirith) that standard sets can't really do justice to.

    I certainly wouldn't be opposed to some representation for the Hobbit too, as many of those old sets had a lot of room for improvement, especially with the Battle of the Five Armies wave.

  5. After rewatching Avatar through the 3D rerelease in theaters, I do think the selection for the current wave of sets is pretty solid.  There's a few noticeable omissions among the minifigure lineup (Grace's avatar, human Norm, Eytukan, and maybe more RDA soldiers would have been appreciated) and I would have liked to see how LEGO would have done a couple of the other creatures, such as the Hammerhead Titanothere and the Viperwolf.  Most of the other vehicles would have needed to be scaled down significantly to be made into sets, so I can see why LEGO skipped those.  Overall, I do think the most important stuff from the movie was covered.  Once the sequel is released, I'll be curious to see how the set selection of the next wave stacks up.

  6. There really should have been another Disney+ CMF series this year if they aren't going to bother with sets.  Too much content is getting released for a 12 figure CMF series to adequately cover if it's being released 2+ years after the first.  Even then, I imagine a decent number of notable characters would have been left out (What If?... got extra attention and still ended up with major omissions)  And considering how often characters in the MCU get new outfit designs, waiting for show characters to be released in movie sets is only a partial solution.

  7. I wonder if there will be any Pixar characters included.  We've only gotten a total of 6 Pixar minifigures across the previous two series, and only from Toy Story and The Incredibles at that, which makes me think any Pixar inclusions for this series will be extremely limited at best, especially if we're only getting 12 minifigures this time (though I would certainly hope Disney pushes for 18, considering that would still divide evenly into a case of 36)
