About Me
The first lego collections I had have long been lost, broken or given away, but as a child, I was a big fan of the Fabuland sets. When they were discontinued, I kind of lost interest and found my way back to Lego again when the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings sets were released. (My favourite of which happens to be An Unexpected Gathering.) I started collecting them mainly because of the lack of Hobbit merchandise out there - unlike when the Lord of the Rings Trilogy was released, there weren't that many figures released and I wanted to collect the entire company of Thorin Oakenshield, so hence my starting the collection. When I discovered the Lord of the Rings sets, I wanted to collect all the figures of the Fellowship so I bought those, too. (Being a Star Wars fan, I concentrated on collecting items relating to the prequels, original trilogy and the expanded universe when Lord of the Rings was released, so I missed a lot items and it wasn't helped by not having a great deal of disposable income in those days.) Collecting those sets did something else which I hadn't expected at all - they reawakened the enjoyment I had of playing with Lego and I was impressed with the quality of the detail that Lego put into every set and decided to start collecting them.
