    MOC: HMS Indefatigable: Airship

Intriguing concept! You seem to delight in taking large, difficult to use pieces and building something unlikely around them. I like the interplay of curves and slopes, and the chunkiness of the parts you've built, but I have to confess that I dislike that zeppelin piece and don't think it's a good LEGO part at all. I would much rather see the ten-times larger Siegfried version of a floating airship As you say, it just seems a little small. And it needs handrails! This looks like a very dangerous place to be

Bricklink! Actually now that pearl gold cheese is available via the Kingdoms set, I may have to revisit this in future and change some of the tiles to slopes

    Five Dummies Crashing

I can't believe we're halfway through already! With this amazing pile-up, this big really has sense of dynamism and ultra-violence. I love how the dummy on the bike has thrown up his arms in futile defence against the unstoppable machine rage

It's all true And you can vote now! Thanks Zorbas! You are always very kind. And the Ishtar Gate is indeed stunning - one of my favourite ancient pieces of architecture - and it would be amazing to see in LEGO form Don't tempt me All these gates... I feel like some kind of deranged Gatekeeper

    Knight's Joust

Cute! Thanks to these pics, I am loving the figs more and more - it's a shame the sets are a little lacklustre. What a great idea to update classic designs with today's beautiful figs The Crowny livery does look out of place (I assume that's what Hornbricker means). Red and blue are both such strong colours - I can see why the designers chose dark green as a contrast. Thanks for sharing TB!

The tiling seems to receive a mixed reaction, but I wanted the tan section to be smooth to contrast with the bley studded ground and the stud-o-mania of the fortress towers. It is supposed to look like smooth, polished rock to deter minifigs from scaling it from below! The hard part was getting to the height of the rocky base from the end of the arched bridge without making the gradation too wide and thus blocking out the bridge. So it was a compromise in the end, which is why the base has more detail but it leaps up very quickly.

Thanks Erds! This is my favourite theme for parts in a long, long time - possibly ever! - so I am stockpiling these babies Most of the nougat came from BL. I was lucky with the corner wedges - a seller listed over 100 for 9c each and I snapped them up - the price is a lot higher now, which is probably right for a part that only comes in 1 set and only 6 pieces in that. Thanks tiger! I didn't forget the duckie, I did consider it but realised I had just been brainwashed by PrEtzel A lot of people dislike these kind of pieces on principle, but the Alpha Team ice rock has always been one of my favourites Thanks TB! That is high praise indeed. This is something of a departure for me - my largest MOC ever! Normally for space reasons I work to a 32x32 baseplate so I enjoyed having a bit more room to play with. Since the arched, sloping bridge was the feature that really caught my eye from Aleppo, I designed that first and everything flowed from there. I always loved Castle as a kid but the sheer number of amazing MOCs by master builders can be intiimidating - so I wanted to do something quite different. Because LEGO is amazing! Thanks Zorroman!
  14. Since unlike other contests we're not asking for separate posts for each entry, yet we recognise that will all your hard work you would probably like some feedback on your MOCs ahead of the public vote, this thread has been created just so you can talk about the actual entries that have been made so far! Questions about contest rules etc still belong in the Contest Discussion Thread. Thanks and enjoy!

    Review: 7947 Prison Tower Rescue

Thanks for the review TB! I have mixed feelings about this set (and the line is generally unimpressive, apart from the figs). While I do appreciate the different shape, and the logical detailing with stairs and internal ladders etc, there is something just lacking overall about the whole experience. Maybe it's the mix of parts? Lack of interior? I can't quite put my finger on it... Still, if I was going to get a Kingdoms set this would probably be it I do wonder if we had seen an Elflands theme in Fantasy that it would have ended up something like this...

Thanks Iz! The shape looks simple but arranging the limited palette and getting the proportions right was the challenge in this one, rather than fancy techniques. Still, I knocked it out in about 4 days so I was pretty happy The bathroom is the most popular part I wanted to contrast the dry, dusty, rocky rough lives of the Alamut Guards with the pristine decadence of the Nizam in his palace, luxuriating in water. Plus I love medium blue, and trans-medium blue is one of my favourite colours - I like to throw some in when I can (like the 8x8 plate in the Department Store roof pool, or even some of my earliest MOCs on EB like the Elflands contest). It's kind of a running theme, like using the pot plants. Interesting point. I wanted to make a contrast with the rough & studdy dark bley ground with the more slippery and unclimbable mountain part. I was probably thinking more of the original Aleppo gate where the incline is much steeper and unfriendlier than this MOC. Thanks Ras! I pride myself on colour work and I think the contrast between the icy blue bathroom and the red desert fort is a really lovely one. I may try your suggestion with de-tiling too Thanks Superkalle! The dinosaur flipper parts have a Technic pin end which just clips neatly into the holes in the wheel pieces. It seriously is the easiest technique in the world! Thanks iamded! I am glad you picked it up. The stream isn't as prominent in the photos as it is in the MOC (it needs to be thin to fit under the arch). I always like to have a little bit of story in my creations.
