  1. Hey since you're back does this mean you've got some Lcad ships complete?

Unfortunately no :-$ i've been far too busy lately with school and stuff so did'nt get the chance of actually designing ships anymore.

However i did buy my first two legosets in 8 or 9 years which are the vader tie advanced and the technic towtruck *sweet*

But now i want to focus on ships again and maybe even design one which is "affordable" and isn't too large :-P

  2. And i know you may get it all from bricklink but doesnt that take time i meen How do you know what bricks you will need and how much it will come to and how long it will take?

Also do you make your own building instructions?

    Thanks *y*

    Joey

That's why i always design my ships in LDD first.

I know which blocks i will be needing and the plans well LDD makes em for me after i am finished.

the design itself is done mostly off the top of my head though ( is this the correct way of saying that? :-P)

  3. Thanks Phred! I'm thinking about making another two decked ship of the line, but much wider.

Are there any straight lines in a ship?

there are some straight lines in a ship but almost 70% of a ship's hull (be it a frigate or a 1st class ship of the line) is curved even the decks have a curve. the only thing that is about straight in a ship is the position of the gunports those are alligned like this as you can see : F2846-1.jpg

    hope this helps ;-)

  4. Yes I will post more about my ships in detail.... My ship of the line has an interior so i will post more pictures of that... The only problem though is I just moved to Los Angeles and my ships haven't made port out here yet so it might take a week or so... but i will post giving details about all of my creations. One other thing I forgot to ask... Do you think the 74 gun ship that i have posted is in minifig scale?

I think it is just a little to small to be in real minifig scale. but i could be wrong :-P

What are the dimensions of the 74 gunner ?

  5. I really like the Bellona. I tried to design her myself once but it was too much for the program :-P and that was without the underwater part :o impressive stuff.I also love those gun carriages. However i do think she needs heavier guns on the lower gundeck.

But that's just me *sweet* really nice ship.keep up the good work.

  6. This ship is amazing.

But it still needs masts. Are you going to add these still?

When it is completely finished, I suggest you make a new topic for the finished version.

This way it will get the attention it deserves.

EDIT: I just noticed you have the masts in a separate picture. I there a way to show the ship together with the masts on 1 picture?

No unfortunatly putting th masts on the ship causes the LDDprogram to overload and crash.

You will have to wait until the real ship is built before you can see any masts on it :-/

    sucks doesn't it :-P

  7. Too bad the denise has sunk :'-) she was one of the best ships my brother and me ever saw in lego.

But if there are other ships on the way ,well then we are looking forward to seeing pictures of them *sweet*

  8. Yes the high price tag is a bit of a bummer but its what i had ecxpected and what i can afford.

About those headrails i'll make a sort of pictorial when i'm at home so i can show it.

they are quite simple once you get used to the construction method ;-)

I don't think my acheron is superior to yours Mr Tiber definetly not

Yours is beautiful and she is made on a standard hull *y*

something i wouldn't even know how to start a frigate with

i love those kind of ships that are build on the standard lego hulls *wub*

  9. Thanks! I can take more pictures, at the moment that's all I have of that diorama. My concept of playing nowadays is making dioramas. They remind me of Lego catalogues I loved to pore over when I was little.

Ah yes the catalogues now those were fun

    aaagh times gone by :'-)

Geuss it's time to bring those times back!!! *sweet*

  10. Little dead minfigs getting eaten by sharks and mantarays and what not. Though perhaps there's no age limit to playing with lego, is there one for playing with lego in the bath? ;-)

    I would hope not X-O

I think that if i were to do it now i think i would have just as much (if not more) fun than i did when i was a kid and you would too ;-) you know i'm right

  11. I always used to get told off for playing with my bricks in the bath ..........

Mum complained they got stuck down the plug

Well it was the same story over here but we just didn't listen to our parents (Hairy Ruben and myself)

It was fun though building 3-4 feet long battleships with watertight compartments just to watch them sink.

Ah those were the days *sweet*

  12. now this is really impressive *sweet*

btw are there more pictures of that fierce battle between the Black Seas Barracuda and your Hms Repulse?

i always loved those kind of pictures

    Keep up the good work
