  1. It isnt his Manta, Its a "Brickshelf Find"

You think HMS Hood is good?

    Look at this!

    Project Yamoto

Ive been following since 2002!

I think he gave up...

Ah but I also know about this project. I think it even has a thread somewhere around here.

But these 2 aren't the only battleships on BS though.(Most definitely not! )

Here are 2 other MOC's that deserve attention.

Both are made by someone called Lindsay F. Braun.

And as far as I'm concerned they're both better than Hood and Yamato combined.

Here's the First One! A German WWI dreadnought.

And here's the Second One! The Japanese heavy cruiser Takao.

  2. I've been following this project from the moment it started, which was some 6 months ago.

And I'm surprised that it hasn't been posted here yet.

Any way, I'll let some of the pictures do the talking for this amazing project

Personally I would like to see some more fine details and I would have used bars instead of those taps for the railings but still it's an amazing feat!

Here's the link to this guy's Brickshelf.

  3. Just buy it that's what I say.

If it's from the pro builder series you don't need to worry too much about large one piece parts.

And as my brother already said, the quality issue is non-existent IMO. (this only works for the PB series though)

I avoid using them in Lego based mocs because there is a slight difference in size between MB and Lego.

Other than that there is nothing to worry about and even more so because you're thinking of it as a display set rather then a part-pack.

    Or am I wrong?

And best off all, Megablocks is easier on your wallet.

For me there isn't something like a "dark side" just an infinite grey zone  But I must admit I like Lego more.

Lego just has too many really cool features that MB can never accomplish IMO.

  4. The mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor.

Overall a decent film although I can't help but feel a little dissapointed. (That's all you'll hear from me about this movie  )

and today I saw The mummy and The mummy returns once again because I was still in the mood

  5. Right now I've just finished Gears of war for the millionth time. I've also just finished Battlefield: bad company.

And just yesterday I bought a 12-month subscription to xboxlive.

So Halo 3, COD 4, Battlefield and GOW2 when it comes out will be the games I'll be playing the next few months.

Yes I'm a bit of a shooter fanatic

  6. I'm pretty open to everyone about my hobby. Not that I go around telling to everyone though but still, most people I konw know about it. My friends are all people who think it's pretty cool what people can do with lego (I've shown them the site and everything) so I geuss I'm pretty lucky. Even my girlfriend thinks its kind off nice

But so far I never came across someone who tried to make fun of it and when it should happen they can **** off IMO.

But that's just me and I'm pretty radical when it comes to matters like this one.

  7. I've got my screen name of an Nofx-album called The war on errorism.

I've been using it ever since the album hit the shelves some 5 or maybe even 6 years ago.

However I do have another nicknames on the internet but I can't use that one on most sites due to its length. :hmpf:

That one is Toiletseat Philosophy and well... I think it pretty much explains itself where I got that idea now doesn't it?

  8. Very nice MOC you've got there Duke.

A lot of nice details such as the weathered look, the campfire, the fallen column, etc.

If you are going to add some rubble I would suggest not overdoing it though.

Otherwise it might look to crowded. But that's just my opinion.

    Anyway great stuff.

Keep up the good work

  9. Edit: What do you think about the voices? Should there be real voices or just that crazy noises?

A combination of both would work perfectly IMO.

But it's only a suggestion as the movie works fine without real voices. :pir-wink:

  10. This is really excellent stuff. It has a nice story, humour (love the wench with the barrel), some great special effects (i.e the changing faces).

The only thing I would suggest doing differently were the voices.

Other than that very nice work

  11. Impressive fort you've got there Fatespuppet.

I really like the medallion and the tiles you built in the courtyard.

The modular structure shows its value once more.

I agree with Norrington about the cannons as they really need weels for the recoil.

I can't wait to see the finished product :pir-wub:

Keep up the good work

  12. I would say around May 2009. That's usually when new themes get released around here(In Belgium that is anyway), if my memory serves me correctly.

But of course I'm hoping for January 2009.

I want those parts and I don't feel like waiting too long for them :pir-grin: .

So my vote seems pretty clear :pir-laugh:

    2009 on!!!

  13. An impressive castle you've got there Teddy.

It looks like a huge construction :oh3:

I like the walls but I think there could be a little more colour in them. Just to give the castle that ancient and weathered look.

    But only just a little.

Anyway I'll be following your projects pretty closely since you now got two amazing projects underway

  14. I've finally seen what all the fuss was about. I've spent the last two weeks in the UK so I was out of touch with the latest evolutions.

But my brother has filled me in while I was away.

I saw the pictures today, one of the first things I did after arriving back home (yes I'm an addict :pir-tongue: ).

And I'm surprised. All those old pieces which will be making a comeback. The nice shako's, the shooting cannons, all those wonderfull torso's, the weapons, the animals etc.

But the sets themselves don't appeal to me as much as I thought they would do. I'll buy some of them but they will be used as part-packs rather than sets.

My ship will benefit from these new sets that's for sure.

Thanks you TLC for bringing pirates back!!!

    Greetings,

    Errorist

  15. My advice would be to stop trying to design the ship in LDD and go for it IRL buying bricks through BL as you go.

A ship this size is a near impossible task with LDD (believe me I have tried and failed :pir-tongue: )

As for the sterngalleries, I think you should keep them the way they are now. Don't make them sqaure because it just doesn't look right IMO.

You've managed to get the shape really well.

But I'm afraid that LDD won't allow you to go much further due to the programs limitations.

If you were to build them IRL I would suggest doing something with wedgeplates and tiles to finish the roof.

Basically my advice is to experiment IRL instead of with LDD.

Even if you only have a limited supply of bricks. Those will get you much further than LDD ever will.

    Greetings,

    Errorist

    PS: beautiful sterngalleries Joey :pir-wink:

  16. Me (and Ruben as well) are in favour of a combination of both versions for the gunports.

We feel that you should use both versions where necessary.

As is seen in this picture

    image048-1.jpg

The bottom gunports look like version 2 when the upper ones look like version 1.

    Just a suggestion though :pir-blush:

Anyway keep up the incredible work

  17. I was unsure where to start this topic, so I just put it in here.

Mods, feel free to move this to it's proper place if it doesn't belong here.

    Now as for the event:

Last week I went to visit Captain Green Hair in Amsterdam. We (me and my girlfriend) spent 3 days in Amsterdam.

It is a pity that we only took pictures on the second day of our mini-event.

But there are many pictures of that fantastic day at Lelystad.

As most of you may already know, Captain Greenhair and myself are huge pirate fans.

At Lelystad we visited a great source of inspiration for both our projects, The Batavia wharf

At this wharf the Dutch people have already built a magnificent replica, The Batavia:

    image072.jpg

    image133.jpg

And they are in the progress of making a second one called "De 7 Provincieën" which was a 16th century ship of the line with 80 cannons on board.

    image032.jpg

    image047.jpg

    image048.jpg

We had loads of fun while visiting both ships and we got a lot of study material for both our projects.
