  1. I'm just basing it on pretty much every response I got to my question a few pages back. Only you and atreyu2112 seem to be seeing anything different. Since we don't have any sales numbers, and probably never will, the next best thing we can get are reports from members around the world. I would love to hear from more people so we can get a better idea of how the DoS Hobbit sets are doing in different areas.

That is true, and the LotR/Hobbit themes do seem to be more popular in other countries than here in the U.S. The U.S. accounts for a huge chunk of Lego sales though, so if I theme does poor here it has to go above and beyond in other countries to even attempt to compensate.

With Galadrial coming in the next Hobbit wave, and Amon Hen not really offering anything new at all in terms of minifigures, I could do without both of those sets. I would rather see an Oliphant, Balrog, and/or some new minifigures instead. I also would prefer to get a "proper" Gondor Soldier army builder set at the $30 price tag and with more minifigures.

The shelves over here are always stocked with LotR and Hobbit sets. I'm not sure that's a good thing, because the prices are disgustingly high and I perfectly understand why no one but the most die hard fans would buy them.

  2. Ninjago sold out practically in a day at my local store. Suppose your store moved it to the back so that kids wouldn't be distracted, so they can focus on the excess of Chima.

I think the store manager just made a mistake. It's a strange idea to move a theme that's known to sell well to the back of the store where apperently no one can see it.

  3. The problem is "we" the more dedicated AFOLs who will buy such multiples are, while dedicated, a very small niche. They make their money off of he kiddies and their parents. Not off the collectors. So smaller less expensive self contained sets is the current target market.

If you're not paying American dollars, you're paying way too much anyway.

  4. Not so sure I am going to like these now. Just bought and built Razcal's Glider and on reflection it looks like something the cat killed and has dumped in the garden a couple of weeks ago. t is just awful, looks like a skeletal kind of zombie bird and has pretty much put me off. Maybe it was not the best set to start with but it was the cheapest.

All those wings are still nice to have and so is the minifigure.

  5. Like the Dark Matter Mine?

    I'm sorry, I don't watch the show...

I went to Intertoys today and got my Golden Dragon there and then cancelled my order on bol.com. I was going to take some pictures, but not only am I a terrible photographer, I also have a terrible camera. In conclusion, no review from me. I can still say I like the minifigs and some of the weapons (samurai sword, hammer, dragon sword). The Zamor Sphere works as expected and the stone scout catapult works okay too. I like all the gold and the printing on the dragon's head. The only complaint I have is the "sturdiness" of the dragon. I'm not sure what was wrong with the articulation of the previous dragons and why they felt like changing it.

  6. Yeah, most "famous" reviewers don't even bother to read about the stories and they can't even put the mask on straight, but in the end they still give high ratings to the set.

Also, it seems like some of those crocs suffer from the same problem as some of the orcs. You can see their teeth even with the croc mask on.

  7. I'm still wondering why Lego wanted a break. The fans were happy which meant big sales which should make Lego happy. I guess they are following some kind of marketing strategy that says that most themes get boring after three years or they just failed to see how popular Ninjago really was. Maybe they just wanted to give LoC the possibility to set up a fan base while at the same time not losing the Ninjago fans by telling them Ninjago will be back in 2014 so they won't not buy LoC sets out of spite.

  8. Trans red is new, yes.

And I think that's a new bowl piece in the the speedorz tournament set.

Wow, the Target Practice set has two trans light blue axe pieces. Too bad I don't care that much for the eagles. The crocs on the other hand... I fear Crawley's Claw Ripper has stickers and I hate stickers more than the crocs hate the lions.

  9. If it's available on the 17th, I might buy the Golden Dragon.

    What retailer? Intertoys?

Our fat blue friend has it for 29.99 starting Monday, so you'll have it on Tuesday. Toys XL has it for 29.99 as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you could already find it at Intertoys (in stores), because I believe they usually get new stuff on Thursdays. It's 32 euros at Intertoys, though.
