The new glued Lego magnets can be removed!

This is certainly wonderful news but like the post above I have been thinking: does this work on everything LEGO 'glued' over the last couple of years? And more importantly, does it work on keychains? I'll try to find out myself although I don't have a thermometer for the water... TT

    LEGO's lightsaber choices

Hello everyone, I have been thinking about LEGO's choice of lightsaber colours. Red is perfect but blue and 'green' bother me. If we look at the lightsabers from the movies, blue usually appears to be a darker blue instead of a lighter blue: This is clearly seen in the Mustafar duel: While games like TFU(II) have shown that different shades of blue are possible, the darker one appears to be the most common. LEGO uses trans light blue for the blue lightsabers, so could a regular trans blue 4L bar also be considered to be used in sets? Although I can accept the choice of blue, I've been bothered about the 'green' ones ever since I saw them. Yes, neon effect makes them look like they 'glow' but it's a simple fact that this colour isn't green. This colour is callled trans neon green but it has more in common with yellow than green. (and besides the lightsaber issue, it's a really ugly colour. ) If we look at every single green lightsaber shot, they look... green. Therefore I'd like to see LEGO make a trans green 4L bar in order to replace the trans neon version. examples: comparison (notice the yellowness of the lightsaber): On an interesting note though, LEGO did use a correct colour for the green lightsabers in the LEGO Star Wars games... Finally, I'd like to add that with all the new molds being created, I'd like to see a double length lightsaber handle like the kind Darth Maul or Savage Oppress use. You can't really replicate the look of the special handle with only one blade by using the regular handle. Comments, suggestions? I've added a poll aswell. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Hello again, I got tired of waiting for a correctly sized double lightsaber handle so I made my own. (pieces: flickr missile and half pin) Then of course I had to make Darth Maul to accompany it. Maul pretty much made Episode one so here he is in his most famous poses. The cloak uses 4 standard capes and he wears the entire outfit underneath it. Once the new head will be released, I'll have to update this although I think the hooded ones will remain the same. The only thing I need now is a metallic siver flickr missile and half pin Link to Flickr entry As always, comments are very appreciated. TT

    Future Star Wars Sets

Since TPM 3D is coming up: Naboo Final battle playset: sort of like the Cloud City playset, one long line of several rooms. Rooms: throne room, hangar, duel of the fates scenery (small catwalk with red ray shield and circular catwalk with pit behind it.) Minifigures: Padme Amidala/'Queen Amidala' (white makeup), Naboo security guard, Qui-gon Jinn, Obi-wan, Darth Maul, Nute gunray, Anakin, battle droids (2?), droideka? Small scale vehicle: Naboo starfighter (like the DV Tie Advanced from the Death Star set) price: 120 euro? TT

    LEGO's lightsaber choices

Some great ideas up here. I agree that LEGO could add at least one more lightsaber design. The standard handle seems to be mostly based on Obi-Wan's lightsaber from episode I and II. (the bottom has that bulb with dots on it.) But I think having two more designs would be great: standard Anakin/Luke/Darth Vader design (2 most left on this picture) Notice the curved top and the box sticking out. And the more 'standard' tube design like Obi-Wan's (Episode III-IV), Luke's (episode VI-...),Mace Windu's, ... Sort of like the real standard lightsaber design. I think adding more colours to both the blades and handles would be great. (I'll add that to the poll) I've also thought about that swooshy hair for Luke. Dang it, thought I was the first one to figure that out TT

That looks EXCELLENT! Always loved that blue lightsaber orange rebel pilot suit combo. TT

They do? I'm gonna have to get some of those then. Nevertheless I'd like to see them appearing in regular SW sets aswell. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Thanks I've placed an order on one of the magnet sets that includes the new Darth Vader torso (hoping they're not glued), so I should have a non battle damaged version up here in a while aswell. But since Vader is one plate higher than the other figures I'm thinking about replacing the regular arms with the black robotic arms (from Minifigures series 3) and black claws in order to accomodate the added length. Will try it out to see if it works. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Well I agree, these figures aren't minifigs anymore. While minifigs are short and chubby (cute in a way), I'm trying to represent the characters in the best way as possible. Sort of between action figures and minifigures. (As for my Napoleonic figures, I suppose you could call it articulated scale modelling) And I will keep it up! TT

I haven't yet, but I will make new droids in the future. I was thinking about doing a Droideka or Super Battle Droid up next. (Or the terror trooper from TFUII) TT

Thank you! The uniform under the red cloak is dark red: In this picture the gloves are regular red but usually it's dark red. @ceroknight: thanks! TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Thanks I'll have the correctly coloured version up in a week or two. Next one, the Emperor's Royal Guard: It's quite heavy on the cape use, but now thanks to the use of 2 capes on top of eachother I can represent a normal length cape. (This will work better on Darth Vader, the cape on this figure is dragging across the floor.) Comments are always very appreciated TT
  13. Indeed. The look on their faces when they don't have to pay it :shudders: McDonalds has released some great adds here in Belgium recently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me-cCwQNisA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O85yEdzUSY&feature=related TT

Thanks I saw your UCS battle droid design on MOCpages yesterday, great work on that one. (It appearantly even uses some of the same techniques for the arms etc.) Mine can't fold accurately for storage though. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Thanks! First of all, a happy newyear to all! It's 2 AM now, and I have my first MOC up for 2011! This actually dates back to 2009 but the design underwent some changes in the last few days. (for larger image, check this link on Flickr. In scale with my TTfigs (well, a tad too big but who cares ) is the B1 Battle Droid. I suppose you all know the backstory for this one. I've designed the B1 so that it has interchangable parts in order to usually transform it into the OOM series. (commander, security and pilot) I think this is the first time in this scale that both antennae are represented? The front of the blaster looks like the front of a DC-17, but I wanted to represent the bulky, blocky feel of the gun. (Remember how big and clumsy it looked in Padme's hand?) The backpack is removable without any problem. The head has a wide array of movement (multiple joints at the head), doesn't fall off and pieces can be removed on different parts of the head to represent saber damage. I really love battle droids ever since they appeared on the screen for episode I, and for me the real droids are those from episode I and II aswell as the original Clone Wars shorts. (not really smart but not stupid either, with a medium voicetone and without any feelings.) Lucas destroyed every charm the battledroids had in order to make other characters or clones look better. (high pitched tones, emotions, clumsiness to the extreme etc.) Now why is this B1 white? It was the only colour in which I have all the parts so far. My biggest concern for mass production has been resolved so these will be produced in around 30 units. When all tan parts arrive, I'll be able to show all the OOM droids aswell. TT

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Looks like regular cody to me. On the other hand, is Darth Maul's lightsaber handle finally the right size? If you look where he's holding the handle, the rest of the sabre is longer than the top part. Might just be the angle though. Also great to finally have a flesh Padme.

    Movies you can't unsee!

Halloween III: awful plot, awful quality... WTH didn't they continue the story of Michael Myers? I even heard they're going to remake it The Clone Wars: the only Star Wars movie I didn't see in theaters and I'm glad I didn't. The plot is... meaningless. A Hutt kidnaps the sun of Jabba the Hutt in order to get him on the side of the Seperatists... Whatever happened to his son anyway? It's not like you see him in the OT. The intro of the movie was meant to remind us of the saturday morning cartoons from the 80's and 90's and that's exactly how the movie felt. Luckily, the series has turned out better but it's still an unnecessary show that only brings up more confusion and contradictions in the Star Wars universe. (the original Clone Wars show is far superior to this one.) This might upset some, but half of the Godfather part two. The part that follows Vito Corleone is amazing, but the part about Michael is just... long, dreadful, boring and totally lacks the mafia feel that you get in the Godfather and Vito's part. Also, I hate the fact that Der Untergang HAS to be translated by Americans into Downfall. That title makes the movie sound a lot more cheaper. TT

    Union Jack

Hello everyone, I suppose I should post this in the Pirates subforum as it'll be probaply used the most up here. In the continuation of my Waterloo project, I had to design both the French and British colours. The British one, the Union Jack, has a quite complex design but after a lot of thinking and experimenting, I was able to reproduce it in the right size. Here you can see it, being carried by a soldier of the 42nd regiment (Black Watch): The design is quite complex and isn't able to move like my French flag, but is quite sturdy. The centre part is kept solely in place by pressure, this would have to be changed into green to represent the correct flag for the 42nd at Waterloo. If you guys are interested, I could post an exploded view of the design aswell. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Thanks for the comments! Never really liked tauntauns but I am planning on making some vehicles in this scale. I haven't made Starkiller yet but will soon. A quite unique design I hope to post soon is a B1 battle droid in this scale, but the scarcity of the tile 1*1 with clip in tan (well, the price of the part actually) does make it difficult to make it into mass production. I'll see if I can get any figures up tonight. TT

    Union Jack

What do you mean by works only from one side? Although I don't yet have the parts for it, the design is featured both on the front and the back of the flag. Feel free to use the design, I'll try to post a picture later this evening of the construction. TT

    Star Wars TTfigs

Thanks for the comments and feel free to use any of the design elements. Here's a picture of the construction of the figures: The hand goes below the X on the X-frame. @prateek: I've been searching for the right combo between black and white for quite a while and although this is a step forward, it itsn't good enough yet like you said. The problem is the the black only appear at the knees and thighs and if I make these black, the black is too overwhelming. A work in progress I suppose. @Brickdoctor: yes they do, but in return they do look more scaled and realistic. (sort of like small customisable actionfigures?) TT

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion

These look great, and it really seems like they paid attention to the EB suggestions thread. Come to think of it, the musketeer looks quite like I drew it, including the sword: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14780153@N08/4810193682/ which of course makes me a very happy man (and even a new hat!) This series is a lot better than S3, looking forward to seeing them in stores!

    New Theme Topic?

So you've never played with imperial soldiers, knights or samurai before? War isn't limited to our modern area. (Getting a sword in you is just as bad or worse than a bullet ) I'm mostly a military MOCer, spread over different periods in history, but I find it a bit difficult to know where to post them. I have to post my Napoleonic MOCs in the pirates forum, while I feel they are a bit misplaced. (the focus there is Pirates, and historical MOCs get lost in the vast majoirty of true Pirate MOCs...) Roman legionaries would have to be posted in the historic themes forum while WWI or WWII MOCs have to be posted in the 'other themes'. Since I mostly build figures, I'd have to start a new thread for every figure in every subforum. (while they should all be in the historic themes forum...) I'd like a military subforum aswell, it'd be great to have an overview of the military MOCs.

    BrickMania, 27 and 28 November

I think the weather will be alright for driving to Wilrijk, but it might get slippery on the way back... Well I'll be there tomorrow with some new MOCs and my Napoleonic army, looking forward to it. (Still have to prepare most of the stuff for transport though. ) Hope to see many Eurobrickers there aswell, don't hesitate to chat On a side note, why was this posted on Eurobricks just now? The poster has been on the BeLUG site for months.
