    Disney and Lego Join Forces

I was just thinking about a lego alternative for the M1 helmet and just saw the frontpage news. Looking forward to the green armymen! The rest is... meh. They could have used normal printed heads. They made the clone wars figures that way, I see no reason the change it... Prince of Persia looks good. I don't like any of the animals. (all sculpted, almost no simplicity) TT

Has there ever been a war theme?

Indiana Jones could certainly be considered as a war theme, and the Red Baron and Sopwith Camel UCS planes. Pretty much everything with conflict suc as castle, pirates,... could be considered as war aswell. TT

    Trumpeter of the Red Lancers

    [MOC] Forward position...

Very nice, it's the kind of generic star wars building that is pretty hard to get right. The black antennas and the reddish brown underground remind me of the clone wars style. Nice work. TT

    Roman Legionnaire

Well, this is my design: (figure on the far right) If you turn the plate armour around, you have a reasonable depiction of the lorica segmentata. The lorica hamata (chainmail) is only represented by two of the Viking torsos, of wich the dark bley one with the iron dishes on it is the only usable. (But you're stuck with the dishes... Good for a centurio or honoured soldier but not really for standard legionaries.) as shown here: The lorica squamata (scale armour) has been used in a lot of torsos such as the soldier torsos of the newest castle line, but also in the older sets. Lorica squamata has been used by legionaries but was overall less used than lorica hamata or segmentata. In what extent hamata and segmentata were used, remains a point of discussion. (Chainmail costed more than the segmentata, and if suitable subarmalis, a sort of padded linnen armour, was worn, it provided better protection than the segmentata.) Squamata (sometimes in bronze etc.) was prefered by centurions, signifers, ... (officers) TT

What if Vader would have been the Führer?!

Storm troopers were soldiers in WWI, designed to storm the trenches. (sometimes wearing armour resembling at-at commander armour) Nice MOC, I like the way you made the station and the picture is nice as well To all people: it's Führer, with a capital as it is a noun and an "umlaut" ( ¨ ) if not, you are insulting the German language (not in the title, but some replies in this thread) TT

    Ideas for Roman sets

If I may quote from De Bello Gallicum: "those who are called Celts in their own language and who we call the Gauls" or something close to that Anything with Romans would be great usual examples: arena, chariot (although not military), galley (will only be one row I presume), camp, some small sets, Impulse sets :D TT

    Ben 10 discussion thread

I haven't seen ben10 : alien force yet, but I have seen the "original" ben 10. I suppose it's like it. Some nice parts (if minifig scale of course) of aliens, bountyhunters, etc. Not that many humans though. Mainly the focus on the aliens and mostly the ones ben can transform into. (I could imagine 10 sets or so in order to get all the aliens...) It's a futuristic theme, might help the space MOCers or so. On another note: If LEGO has a contract with CN, might we expect Samurai Jack? TT

    Pirates Advent Calendar

I'm hoping that the admiral figure or something like him will be in the set. Nothing too special in the set otherwise... This is just a test picture, since the city calendar appearently is only at the artwork stage. TT

    Why Playmobil rules TLC out

I'd like to think that LEGO has followed Playmobil's example in the variety of themes. They made a Viking line, new castle line etc. the addition of the Farm theme reminds of that thought, aswell as the rehash of pirates. The invention of the impulse sets is very related to PM's specials. One figure with some accesoires. If LEGO would expand their range of the Impulse sets, like PM does with it's specials, we could have figures from all kinds of themes while it isn't necessairy to create a new theme for it. Problem: Playmobil is mostly based on role playing, so new moulds are mostly used for the figures and accesoires. Lego still remains a building toy, and a lot of new moulds go to new types of bricks. Let's hope LEGO follows PM's example, then we'd have a Roman and Egyptian theme TT may I add that the PM Roman sets, wich I own some off (collect PM too from time to time), are very realistic. Details like the sideways centurion plumes and the fact he wears his sword left, while the legionaries wear them right, indicates that what Playmobil is good at: creating certain stories, but using pieces that are usually historical correct.

    French Fusilier

Now, I wouldn't call fusiliers heavy infantry, more the medium type. (voltigeurs/light infantry = light and grenadiers = heavy) The figure looks lovely. The face is a good match for the time, a bit unshaven aswell, as would happen on campaign or such. Cuffs and collar look good too, you even added another torso under the habite-long. One thing though, you should add one or two crossbelts, the poor fellow can't hang his ammo pouch or bayonet anywhere TT

    Crucifiction of Jesus

Okay, okay, I'll be sending out some invites to start the game again in a while I thought about the arms the other way aswell, but this would show the knobs wich put the arms in the torso. (uglier plus that's really dislocated ) Thanks for the comments TT
