  1. No idea what you are talking about, I think the minicrane is nice example of how much function and playability you can put in such a small space. The backhoe might not be pf driven, but has lot of functionality, and therewith playability within a nice price. secondary models of almost all the set look also nice as well. And in my opinion the 8070 ads a lot of motorised functionality. 4 motorised functions with just one motor within a good looking frame. And whos says you can't add yourself an extra motor here and there.

Everyone has an opinion i didnt mean to run them down i just prefer larger more challenging set with LA,s and pneumatics as im an older builder thats all, maybe 2h2011 will bring us nice models like the excavator and crane truck etc.

  2. The 8258 "frames" are not that expensive, if you need them:

The RC parts on the other hand...

But like I've already said (and a fair share with me), it depends on what parts you need. If you are after parts...

Im only getting back intom lego so parts would be nice too,i might just get both if the girlfriend is good too me,most comments are saying both is a must so ill think thats what ill do,thanks for the help guys.

I think ill go for the excavator for now, does it work well with the new linear actuators or is there much of a differance, also has many on here went for the 11.1v battery mod?I still would love to get my hands on a 8868 from 1992,has anyone ever seen one still new in box?

  4. Okay.. I found the online instructions that were presumably updated and they match.. I guess that means I have the new version... Hooray!

Does the new box,s now come with the new instructions and new actuators as im buying one this month(mid december),Also were all the sets with problems recalled that time and how do u know if ur set is the latest version?im in ireland.

  5. The 8258 was the flagship of 2009 and the 8043 is the flagship of 2010 - so if you still can buy 8258 now, my guess will be that you still can buy 8043 next christmas. It may be even longer on the shelves than normal, because of the new edition...

Yes i know what u mean but i just think the excavator is more exciting for some reason,Id love both if i had the money but that wont happen for xmas i think,Has anyone got both, the crane on the truck doesnt look that impressive or have much functions twords the excavator? Also i have the new haul truck 8264 and i think the excavator would match up well beside it ;)

  6. getting one of these for xmas just wondering which is better all round and a must have for a new large set,all comments welcome!

im talking about the 8043 with new actuators so no need for complaining about older type as ill have a new set with new actuators,

iv heard the truck will become discontinued soon and the excavator will be on the shelfs for a long time yet,

also what do people think the top 3-4 models this year 2010 are just out of interest?

  7. i just taught it was strange but can any of these rumors be confirmed as the pics of the new backhoe looks like a small-midsize model,id love something like the size of the new red truck of the new excavator!most years have seen a flagship model do ye not think, also the supercars are nice but i prefer actual working models using actuators/penumatics and machinery/trucks interesting stuff etc!for instance did ye know last year what the 2010 models were going to be or did anyone get a nice suprise when they came out?

  8. hi im new but not new to lego i used to built it around 15 years ago and starting to get the interest now again, lately iv bought the log loader 8049 because i always loved pneumatics and also iv bought the 8264 hauler to match my excavator i get for xmas off my girlfriend, one thing i am disapointed in is the pneumatics are not been used much now as these linear actuators are the new thing but i havnt seen them yet as my 8264 is still box,d,few off my fav old ones that id like to get is the 8455 backhoe and the airtech claw 8868 these are a must that i need to get,my fav model back in my time building in around 1990 was the backhoe 8862 but iv no idea where it went when we moved all those years ago,im now 30 years old and a mechanic by trade and hello too all.
