  1. So can anyone confirm if Vader I n TIE set will have leg printing? Because newly released photos show him with no printing, but back of the box shows him with leg print. Kinda confused...

I'm seeing less and less sets these days with leg printing (the TFA ones were particularly weak). So I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. Very disappointing - I've ended up replacing many sets of legs on SW minifigures recently.

  2. Don't hate me, but I ordered 75098. Then used the points from that towards 2 Galactic Empire battlepacks, 2 First Order battlepacks and a Resistance X-Wing microfighter (for the minifig). So got 2 of the new polybag to go with. And then there's the figures (and a 75049) from Bricklink... but that's a whole other story :)

  3. I've always thought that those two sets complement each other rather well. I have the 2011 Echo Base set and two 2014 AT-ATs, so I think the UCS set gives me everything I need to complete a relatively comprehensive Hoth scene.

Likewise. And if we're getting an AT-ST with the Rogue One sets, that'll add in nicely too. I'll keep the bigger Wampa Cave on my Hoth scene (and I now have 4 snowspeeders!) but otherwise it'll fit in well. Just need to wait until August to get it (no S@H here in Hong Kong, so had to order it in the UK to be delivered to my parents'). I'm glad I didn't pay after-market prices for the old 7666 set though.

  4. Also I'm wondering do you guys thing they will relate the new turbo tank at the same time as the new both set(April 30th) in time for may the 4th?
I already replied to this question on the previous page.
No, Assault On Hoth is the special May 4th release for Star Wars Day (and only available direct from LEGO), while the Turbo Tank is part of the standard June release wave that goes out to all stores.

  5. I have most of the Hoth sets except the earliest one with the previous set of blast doors. So I have a wampa, 3 taun-tauns, 2 snowspeeders, countless turrets... I really like the new Hoth Rebel minifigures, so I'm glad there are a varied selection here. I'm disappointed that there's a wampa cave because it's inferior to the last one, and I've not made my mind up about the snowspeeder yet. My Hoth build is 128x96 studs, so having a bit of extra trench isn't bad, and I really like the new blast doors from the front (although I think the back looks unfinished).

This set is a mixed bag. I don't hate it, but I'm underwhelmed (I wanted more snowtroopers, and really didn't need another non-canon white speeder bike or yet another design of e-web). If the Ewok Village and Death Star weren't labelled UCS, there's no way this one should be. I hate the over-use of the label UCS in this forum, but this set, while impressive in many ways, isn't a UCS set; it's a playset. It's still much better than the classic bat cave, but it could have been so much more. Still, I will be buying it, because it fits with what I am doing with Hoth, and it will be my first "UCS" set.

  6. Do you guys like to buy from people in your country or outside your country on bricklink?

Personally, outside my country. But I live in Hong Kong, there are very few sellers here, and most are vastly over-priced. I'd say 75% of my Bricklink orders come from Germany, because shipping is cheap and fast, and we have no import tax here so I never need to worry about customs charges.

  7. Well, looking at the rest of the responses I seem to be the only one who doesn't have a single UCS set,

You're not alone. I don't do UCS. The new Hoth set (which most agree shouldn't be labelled UCS anyway) will be my first. I like system scale and easily modified sets.

  8. 1. Ewok Village - awesome build, I got an extra set without minifigures to expand it further. My Endor diorama is a labour of love.

    2. Imperial Star Destroyer (75055) - my first big LSW set, that got me hooked and made 2015 a MASSIVELY expensive year. I like that there's LOADS of space for figures.

Number 3 is a tough choice. I'm torn between the newer AT-AP and the new Falcon. Both have required minimal modification. I'm going to say the AT-AP because it's so much more solid (the Falcon looks awesome, and I love the space for extra Resistance Troopers etc, but it's hard to pick up without something coming loose). AT-AP *needs* the addition of the Kashyyyk Troopers battle pack though. Interestingly, the older AT-AP was one of my only Dark Ages LSW sets (present from my wife some years ago).

EDIT: Argh, and I forgot about the 75021 Gunship. Another great set that needs extra figures to make it complete.

  9. My only 2 complaints about the minifigures are that there should be at least 2 more snowtroopers (not much of an "assault"!) and that Han should have been swapped with Leia (even though I already have Hoth Leia from the Echo Base set so it doesn't worry me). I wish it didn't carry the UCS label, not because it does or doesn't deserve it, but just so the UCS snobs would stop going on about it. Did we need another Snowspeeder? No, but the pilots are welcome, even if they look like the Microfighter pilots. Would an AT-ST be welcome (even if they weren't in the theatrical version of ESB)? Of course, we've not had an AT-ST for far too long.

It's really hard to judge the size and scale of the thing from the pictures, but I worked out from one of the hi-res images that the blast door build is about 50 studs wide and 11 bricks high, which is pretty impressive in my book, and will fit my custom significantly extended 7879 well, and look about right in my 128x96 stud Hoth diorama. So while I have a few reservations, and will certainly look to make some minor modifications to the build, I'll definitely be picking this up as close to Day 1 as possible.

  10. Expecting LEGO to keep to 10c/piece year on year is unrealistic. Even in a poor economy, there's inflation and fluctuating exchange rates, plus LEGO need to keep investing in new designs, new moulds, ever-increasing energy and material costs. Speaking relatively, LEGO is trending towards getting cheaper compared to the overall cost of living. The prices for the new sets seem pretty fair for what you get.

  11. My nine year old daughter would agree with the Lego MF as toy of the year. I think gender-specific categories should go the way of the dinosaur. Toy type categories such as dolls, construction toys etc would seem more appropriate (and probably exist). Toy companies will still market toys by gender regardless of awards. Even in many retailers I've been to Lego is segregated by "gender" ie. Friends, Elves and Disney Princess are in the dolls section and everything else is in the "boys" section.
Agreed, although Elves at least seems to be a bit more gender-spanning. I don't personally like the mini-dolls (over 30 years of getting used to standard mini-figures I guess) but the sets are cool. Interestingly, Toys'R'Us here in Hong Kong doesn't separate them much at all, LEGO is just LEGO. Considering how backwards this place is about other things, I think that's a good thing.

So, having seen all the great pictures from NYTF, it's going to be an expensive summer for me! Not thrilled by the Eclipse Fighter or Star Scavenger sets, but they have desirable minifigures, so I'm sure I'll pick them up at some point. The only other thing I don't like are some of the stickers on Rex's AT-TE - they just seem incomplete, particularly the ones on the blue top deck. Hopefully they're only preliminary stickers.

That being said, there is nothing in this wave that I can envisage buying more than 1 of. I've not said that about a wave since 2012.
