    LUL to Minifigure

Is there anyone else, reading this topic and being a Dutch speaker, who can not stop laughing when people in a Lego forum are talking about "lighting up luls"? On topic: Nice to see the quite complicated system inside these minifigures with lighting-up accessories!
  2. It seems your right! That's odd... It looks like the same parts that are used in the shovel can be used to create the front end part of the bulldozer, but that is a comment someone else made already....
  3. And that is where Peeron comes in handy, it has most instructions and you will find the ones for the bulldozer here. Good luck!

    New Lego store in Germany

That is really great! I thought the shop was not going to open until the end of this month. Now I can visit it while travelling on my bicycle from Paris to Berlin next week!

    Medieval walled city

Hello fellow Eurobrickers, I have had the idea for a long time, I build this during the Christmas holidays and only last week I took the time to take some pictures. I present to you my Medieval walled city/town. This is the first big medieval layout I ever made, I toyed with the idea even before the 10193 MMV was brought on the market and when the set came out I bought it and started construction on a town for it. I already had the Blacksmith shop and together with a few more houses, a church, townhall, fortifications and minfigures this is how it turned out. Let's take a small tour: First there is an overview of the town, seen from outside the walls surrounding it with a small bridge. More on the bridge later. The main square of the town, with the detailed townhall I showed in my townhall topic earlier on. A defense tower is visible in the foreground. A shot of the main gate to the town, defending soldiers can use the walks on the wall to get all across town. A picture of the arriving king with the town in the background with the townhall in the center and the church on the left. You might notice the roundness of the bridge deck, I achieved this by tiling a 8x32 green baseplate with 1x8 tiles and then make a bridge that is 31 studs long so the plate has to be bend slightly to fit. It does not hurt the plate and causes a smooth round shape. Not my idea, but from someone on Legoworld in Zwolle. It works great. A top view of the town, showing the arrangements of the various buildings and walls. The biggest building in town: the church. The interior consists of a few technic beams and nothing else, so not worth taking pictures of. I made the large window with transparant plates commonly used for car lights. On the right the Blacksmith shop is visible. A small outdoor workshop for the other Blacksmith in town, he is currently mending the wheel from one of the houses of the MMV and keeping some cows in the backyard. His little shack leans against the other defense wall. Another view of the main square, showing the waterwell. The only tree that did not fit in the town was this one, so it flourishes outside the walls, there are some munks arriving and a beggar has taken position next to the main gate. Overview from the top of the corner tower. A picture showing the back of the main gate, as well as the big tree and the front yard of the church. This is one of my personal favorite pictures. I used many Star wars minifigures-parts for the town inhabitants because their torso's are perfect for medieval times.... The back of the wall with the passing knights on the bridge in the background. And to conclude, a picture of the arriving munks. I hope you like my little town. The entire Brickshelf Folder is here with a lot more pictures than used in this picture heavy thread.... Questions and comments are most welcome.

    Medieval walled city

Thanks for the nice comments! I am going to try to answer a few questions next: Thanks! The windows in the two corner structures you mean? I made those using this fence, and sticking transparant plates on one side, that way you get a window that lets the light come in but that is hard to see through. That is a good idea, I do not have that many dark grey parts, but it's worth Bricklinking some together! The wall is just one big section, although I built the main gate separately as well as an 8 studs long stretch of the wall to do some tests with pathways and the height of it all. Those testpieces got incorporated later on. I got the idea for this project after seeing your great castle take shape, I copied some of the techniques from the walls (like the small openings in the towers). I bought a great deal of grey bricks to finish the walls and I used them all, so to extend the layout I have to go back on Bricklink and spend a lot of money... So for the moment I don't think I'll extend the town I am also thinking about the next project: a 30's USA-city layout. That'll be great with so many grey bricks. That is a good idea also, as this is my first medieval layout many things can be improved, thanks!
  7. Hello everybody, I have not had much time for Lego lately, but now I have and I have made my 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in LDD. The Lego Digital Designer program has an option to send the creation to the Legoshop where you can order it at a pretty high price. My question is this: Has anybody got any experience in ordering self made sets like this and will all the pieces I used in the design be available? If not, it would be an option to get all the parts via Bricklink (I am ordering 85 parts off Bricklink already for this car because a lot of pieces, chrome etc., are not available in LDD). Thanks
  8. Of course, I never thought about that... That makes perfect sense from a TLC point of view! When you choose the option to see the instructions of your model however, you can see a list of all the separate parts used (for the powerpoint-like presentation of the instructions) , just not the quantities. So some puzzling required, next to assembly....
  9. Thanks! That was what I liked to know! I might consider this, the advantage is that it may be a lot cheaper to find the parts via Bricklink. The disadvantage is that it is a real hassle to look up all the pieces at the different sellers.... Does the PAB/LDD have an option to see the parts list of the creation? That would be nice when I want to order the pieces through Bricklink.
  10. Thanks! The point is: I already made the model in LDD without 85 special/old pieces that LDD was not able to provide. It consists of 523 pieces and Lego is charging me 74.90 euro for it after uploading... So I wonder if this 523 piece model will make it to my home with all the pieces Lego indicates are available?

    REVIEW: 7747 Wind Turbine Transport

Thanks for the review! This looks like a nice set to have, especially considering the fact that the trailer is made out of many different parts instead of the one big piece Lego provided us with, in several trailers preceeding this one. The only thing that seems a bit odd is that the truck-and-trailer and the escorting car have the same licenseplates....

    Flesh or Yellow Minifigures?

Yellow, all yellow and nothing but yellow! I have over a thousand minifigs and only ten of them are fleshies (Indiana Jones). I actually stopped buying Star Wars sets because of the fleshification (is that a word?) of the minifigs' heads.

Instructions for a very old set

You are probably talking about a garage using this piece There is more than just one set with this piece, check this link right here
  14. I really like this car and I am missing one poll-option, the "Yes I own it and will never sell it" option I bought mine two years ago for 50 euros from somebody who had had it on display since 1994 and did some major cleaning myself. Underneath the dust the parts were new (except for the yellowing on the seats). I remember this incident, somehow it happened in Holland as well, one particular store in the north of the country suddenly had a load of these sets for sale, coming from some warehouse. It was in 2002 but I was lacking funds at the time so did not buy it back then...
  15. Thanks for the review! I paid a lot less for this set (€4,79) to be exact and I am still waiting for it to arrive. My friend works for the Lego company and was able to obtain it cheap... I thought it would be grey though, judging from the packaging. But white is even better!

    EB Members Title Archive

'Technic Campaigner' This title was given to me after I complained about a lack of technic in the forums, a link to the thread is still in my signature. It helped, because now there is a whole subforum for technic and the sets that are about to released really do the theme justice! I remember that one, it was me you boo-ed in the famous '4 or 6 wide car' discussion and yes, that was very inappropriate!

    Creator 2009 (2nd half) discussion

Finally there is a working steering pictured when there really is a working steering mechanism involved (think of the Cool Cars set and the green one from this year who showed steering wheels but had none). I have seen, touched and tried these sets the past weekend when I visited the Lego Idea House in Billund and they look great. The truck with the cars really steers (by a hand of god on the cab, visible just underneath the 'o' in Creator), and the back doors in the front half of the fire truck hinge open nicely to reveal a good looking interior! No steering on the fire truck, but it looks better in real life than this box-art, I must say. The water in the pond is made out of 1x2 tiles in some trans-color stuck onto the baseplate.

What Town Sets Are You Saving?

Interesting topic, I see some similarities with the much discussed MISB-topic with the question whether Lego is to play with or not. But let's not get into that again... Anyway, I have some town MISB-sets from the town theme, I save them until I find a cheap MIB-one so that I can sell the MISB. I have the following: And those are just the townsets... Hmm this MISB thing is turning into a hobby... I must start building some day! I like the sound of the rattling of those old sets, but I am not really a MISB-saver. It sort of grew out of a lack of time at some point. The only set I bought more of to save a few copies is the above pictured mailman, these sets were just one euro a piece once and I stocked up on them.

    The next LEGO Architecture sets

My thought exactly! And I am going to visit New York in three weeks so I really need to know. Just for the record: toilets on my part of the globe look like this:
  20. Hello my fellow Eurobrickers, I don't know if this has been posted before, but while browsing Brickshelf I stumbled upon this great little motorbikes/scooters by member 'Obscurance'. Does anyone know if these are available somewhere? Because I'd love to add some to my town. The whole gallery with these bikes can be foud here Any ideas? Thanks!

10196: Grand Carousel/Merry Go Round discussion

This set has two faces really: on the one hand there is the beautifully designed merry go round part, with mirrors, the jester hats, beards and colors. On the other hand there is the driving part, with a flimsy platform built over the top of that ugly batterybox, a sticking out motor and some gears. There probably is not enough space inside of the apparatus to build in the motor and batterybox, but as it is now it looks like the motor has been thrown in at the very end of the design process. But surely a fantastic set, way out of my price range unfortunately.

Does anyone know how to get these custom motorbikes?

Thanks for the information guys! Nice to read that the bike is going to be in production soon!

    10196, 10198, 10199 & more

Thankd for these pictures, I am anxious to see more and bigger.... That Merry go round is really huge. Well, 278 thousand euro's seems a bit overpriced if you'd ask me

    REVIEW: 6239 Cannon Battle

Well, the 42 old firing cannons I have fire just as well and as far across the room as the one from this set, no problems there...? What still puzzles me about the new pirateline is the amount of cannonballs supplied. Every set including a cannon gives us two balls instead of six in all the other piratesets starting from 1989. It doesn't really matter to me because my supply of 1x1 round bricks is extensive, but I still wonder.... Anyway, thanks for the review!
