  1. Does anybody know whether the images leaked of the Duel of Fates set were extremely preliminary, or if we can actually expect the set to look like that? I'm tempted by the included minifigures, but the set itself is among the ugliest I've ever seen. Without the minifigures, I'm not sure I would even recognize it for what it's supposed to represent.

  2. I dislike the Ewok set and the Darthomir (sp?) speeder. The catapult looks kinda shapeless, the ewoks look kinda cheapy, and there's only one Scout Trooper. I would have preferred the old Ewok Attack with that awesome glider. Oh well.

The Speeder isn't terrible, I guess, but I don't like Clone Wars sets unless they have lots of characters and ships from the OT. The LAAT Gunship, for example, was great. But I have no attraction to this speeder.

But the Falcoln is a beaut. I kinda wish it was based on Episode 6, because I don't have Lando, and I have a lot of those minifigs already from the X-Wing. Although, they are different prints.... anyway, I don't have Old Ben, so I don't care, I still want it. I don't have a Millenum Falcon. That might be my last Star Wars set I buy.

  3. Does nobody read my posts?

It's a Y-wing, not an X-wing and Anakin didn't fly the red one at the Battle of Malastare; it was the two named figs we're getting: Goji and Rod.

As for the yellow clone being Jet, didn't you confirm, commanderneyo, that it was an original clone commander?

How much of a Star Wars fan is Jordan? Shouldn't he be able to give you accurate details?

I meant Y wing, obviously, because since when has there been an X wing with Anakin. I did read your post, I was just not sure who was right, you or the other poster. Besides, it's more the second Y wing I object to than the pilot.

  4. I have both lots of droids (60+) and the original V-wing, so I'm probably in around the same position you are, and I can say that I'd definitely go with the Carrier. For me, I don't really want a clone pilot or an inaccurate V-wing, and I never got the original Gungans, so since they have exceptional printing I'm looking forward to them. IMO, both sets have flaws, but the Carrier is more easily transformed to an accurate model. For the V-wing, and accurate model would need to have the hull plates mounted on ball joints to allows for multiple angles and then attached to the nose somehow. Trust me, I know what a V-wing should look like.

Thanks for the advice. I think that I would have to agree with you upon seeing some analysis of the V wing. I don't like how thin it is and it's too expensive. Thos Gungans are so awesome, and I don't have many highly detailed minifigs like that.

Where are most of your droids from? I have the newer MTT, that's where the bulk of mine come from, but I also have an original droid battlepack and lots of PT sets, which TLG always find room for a few droids in. I should could how many I have. I can't believe I used to have a droid deficit.

  5. The battle packs are awesome, just awesome. I need them both.

I'm torn between the V-Wing and the Droid Carrier. If I have to choose one, which should I pick? I really like the gungans, but I have plenty of droids. The V-Wing figs are nice, but the ship itself is expensive and not much different from my $10 Republic V-Wing.

  6. Endor battle packs.

Imperial could have 2 scouts, 1 regular storm, and 1 AT-ST driver, plus a brown speeder (a nice one, because there would be only one vehicle).

Rebel could have two Endor rebels, and two ewoks, each with their own color. It could come with a hang glider, a catapult, or both, I don't know.

    Geonosis battle packs.

Droid could have 2 droids, a super, and 2 Geonosians, coming with a turret (Dare I say, with a projectile of some sort?).

Republic could have 3 ep. II clones, one commander of some sort, and... I dunno. Give them a turret too, I guess.

    Kashyyyk battle packs.

Droid could have 4 droids in various colors and different weapons (sniper, rifle, antitank, be creative) and, if God himself shines his love on us, a spider droid? If you don't think that's enough minifigs, throw in a Super, I won't mind.

Republic could have a clone, a Kashyyyk clone (the green scout trooper looking ones) and two wookies with slightly different designs, wielding crossbows, I guess. Give 'em a speeder or something.

  7. Ah, I'm so glad to be posting on a properly moderated Lego forum again! I haven't been able to do that since I was a snot nosed kid posting on BZPower (which, despite all odds (Bionicle no longer exists) has survived). So much nostalgia!

Anyway, now that that disgusting little bit of spam is over with (it won't happen again), I'll get on with my first post. Really great review. The pictures are extensive and really give a great idea of what the set has to offer, and your observation and analyses, obviously backed with a good degree of experience and intelligence, are insightful and help to give a realistic idea of the value of the set. Sadly, the set itself is fairly lackluster. The colors are arbitrary and unappealing- Does Lego think that all interior pieces need, by law, to be a totally random color whose only requirement is that it in no way matches the color scheme of the set? (And the color is grey. GREY for the love of all that is holy, GREY! How do you mess that up?) The minifigures are cool, I suppose, but as a fan of the standard movies, not the EU, the only figure I really recognize is Aayla, who I believe had a few small cameos in the prequel trilogy (not to mention the clones, obviously). The AT-RT is cool, but I already have the larger one, so..... I'm going to save my money for the AT-AT.

EDIT: Oh my, Anakin is in this set? Well, I certainly recognize him, of course! Granted, though, he isn't exactly rare, so my minifig verdict persists, even in the logic behind it has changed.
