rhplus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Hello, let me present to you my entry to Model Team contest. It is a rat rod derived from 1930 something Ford. Size of the model is 14 x 27 studs (edit: including wheels), it has functional hot rod drag-link steering connected with steering wheel, openable doors on driver's side (I have not enough hinges to make it on both sides :) and V8 show engine. pirate theme on passenger doors :) spartan interior, fire extinguisher is a must in such cars... this was the biggest challenge and my main motivation for this MOC. To make a compact and most realistic steering system and fit it into small car. It is quite steep but otherwise it works very well. Thanks for watching, and feel free to put some comments below! Milan Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Great steering Rat rods do have same tires front and rear mostly, but maybe this would look even better if you could make rear tires more fat. Great details, too. Quote
Black-Build Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Wow, all your details are just so awesome! I really like the steering! Quote
HorcikDesigns Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Make the whole rear axle red (remove the LG connectors), and it is going to be briliant! Quote
rhplus Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) thanks guys! Great steering Rat rods do have same tires front and rear mostly, but maybe this would look even better if you could make rear tires more fat. Great details, too. I thought of 43,2 x 22 ZR tyres (no. 56145 / 44309) but I wasn't satisfied with different pattern on front and rear tyres Edited August 31, 2014 by rhplus Quote

BigCatBoy Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Great looking rat rod! That side view mirror looks nice. The steering is pretty neat, too. Quote
mzoli Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Nice work rhplus! I would add 2 extra wheels at the back, like on set 8842. Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 That's a cool little ride! I like this entry a lot. Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Awesome steering solution. It has a very classical model team feeling to it which I like. Quote
sm 01 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 This looks great! I especially like the steering mechanism, and your effort on details (fuel tank, gearbox lever, exhaust pipes, engine...). Very nice rat! Quote
rhplus Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 Thanks for your comments. On the weekend I will try some variations on the rear wheels Quote
CADScott Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I think it looks fantastic exactly as it is, great job! Quote
Kierna Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Love Lego Hotrods! Nicely done with all vintage part, very much Model Team style Quote
Kelkschiz Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 This MOC has lots of character, good job! Quote
rhplus Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 as I came back from my dark ages I still wonder what's new in world of lego... for instance LDD, so I tried to draw my little rat rod and HERE it is. The only parts which are missing are two 2719 1x10 technic plates replaced by 3460 1x8 plates Quote
