MrLee Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Hi all, This was my first shot at using LDD, as I wanted to improve the BARC Speeder that came with the Saleucami Battle Pack. I thought the nose that catered for the flick cannon totally ruined the look of it in terms of screen accuracy. After a bit of research, I saw the BARC with Sidecar 75012 and thought it looked a lot better. I took a shot at taking the best of what I liked in both and combined them. I'm looking at an additional 30 pieces on top of the original 75037. I opted for green trim as I designed it for my 41st Clone Squad. I plan on buying the pieces on Bricklink & eBay, so if any body has any suggestions as to how it may be improved, I'll be happy to hear it :) Original 75037 Modified (Red Denotes new pieces, Green is existing adjacent pieces) Rendered in 41st Livery New Pieces for improvements Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Sure looks more organic and less square. Oh I think there are also flick fire pieces in LDD. Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 It looks good but a bit out of proportion; the pedals are accurate but there's no way a normal minifig would fit. A Miniland fig, however, seems right... Quote
MrLee Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Thanks guys. Comparison pictures with Minifig: Pedals No Pedals @AwesomeBantha I'm inclined to agree with you about the pedals once a Minifig is on it. It does look a bit out of place :) Means I'd only need about 25 new parts. Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Awesome job! I agree that the original isn't very good. Your version captures all the best parts of the speeders we've gotten before. Also, would you mind adding the LFX for this? I'm sure a Mod could help you if you need it. Quote
MrLee Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 @GuyDudeMan27 Thanks! I have attached the LXF to this post for you ^_^ BARC_75037_Modified.lxf BARC_75037_Modified_Rendered.lxf BARC_75037_New_Parts.lxf BARC_75037_New_Parts_FINAL.lxf Quote
TheUtilityBelt Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I love your new version! Much more organic than the TLG set. Why did they ever think a big block for a flick missile would be better? Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I love your new version! Much more organic than the TLG set. Why did they ever think a big block for a flick missile would be better? It's their new marketing gimmick. But I bet inserting a spring into a brick ain't cheap. I wish they had just given us lower prices ! Quote
TWP Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Looks better then the one from the set, that's for sure! Have you already checked the one from the 7913 clone trooper battle pack? I personally think that's the best start to base a design on instead of the sidecar one, as 7913 is more in scale with a minifig in my opinion. Quote
MrLee Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 I didn't know about 7913, seems like a good compromise. I've put in my Bricklink order now, so I'll share the results when it's done :) Quote
arc Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Wasn't really a fan of how that speeder Was designed, looks much better. Quote
MrLee Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 And here it is, made with real bricks, ready to add to my 41st squad :) Quote
