This is the only pet I ever want to own

pet4032-12.jpg

I grew up on a farm, we had a lot of different animals.

Just to show what we had in the 90s beside cows and bulls:

I had mainly cats and rabbits as pets. This is my last cat:

However, as an adult I've never had the urge to own an animal. I got two kids, but unless every friend get an animal - I'll keep the house pet free. We can visit the zoo at any time in case the kids wants to say hi to or pet an animal, it is just 15 minutes away and we have a year pass for the entire family.

And if they want to pet a dog or cat. We have family who has that just a quick visit away.

For pets, I have two salt water fish tanks (one needs the inhabitants transferred to the other) and a Shiba Inu.

In the tanks is an assortment of beginner corals, some crabs, a blenny and a pair of Ocellaris clowns.

I had/have 2 family cats that live with my parents, 13yr old brothers Rocky and Smoky. Both act like dogs. Pound adopted after our first cat died in our back yard by possible snake bite at age 2. As for me personally, I adopted and raised a young cat, Penny Kittie, and a couple of her litters that showed up one day while I worked on a coal yard for a couple years. Brought her home, but around her 4th year she got out one night on an early frost and jumped in a private city pool behind my house, thinking it was solid snow, and unfortunately froze. Most recently, a few weeks ago I adopted another stray kitten my friends friend took in off the street. She was destined for the pound due to the friend having a male cat that was not very enthused about the new visitor. Haven't named her yet, but I'm omewhere between Shoe or Shay. Or Mesothiliomlia... because I can :classic:

This topic is fitting for me as an animal lover.

I have had various pets throughout my life including dogs, cats, fish, turtles, iguanas, anoles, skinks, salamanders, and bearded dragons.

I currently have 3 bearded dragons. They are my most highly recommended reptile pet as they are easy to care for, they are fun to watch, and are docile enough to handle/hold. They are naturally tame, especially as adults.

The only downside I have found is that I do not spend much time with them when I spend my time with LEGO...

The cat sitting in my lap while I type says hi to you all of you and to all your pet friends :) Or meow.

She totally ignores my bricks collection, but she is really interested in the boxes where I keep them. It seems that we are sharing different hobbies :p

I grow with cats in my parent's house and I can't really say that I liked them... When I moved out on my own I was totally sure that I will take a dog or perhaps a chinchilla, but never a cat. Life had other plans for me it seems and few months later a small kitten was chased by dogs, kids and a few old people under the cars in front of my building. I ignored all the noise for hours until a friend came by and started kidding around that I should take it in. One thing leads to another I caught her (after a 45 minutes chase) and having a dog barking on my tails and an old woman chasing the dog with a stick I arrived at home with a fist size kitten. In the first night I could not sleep and neither could she. She stayed on my chest and she was so afraid of everything and anything that she stayed awake just to see what my intentions are. On the other hand even though she was very very little I was afraid that she may bite or do shits around the house (she did make some nasty wounds to my hands in the process of catching her). So after we stayed awake all night during the day sleep kicked in for both of us and I am not sure what happened, but I grown very fond of her and she of me. She was extremely scared of everything (and still somehow is even though 4 years already passed) and it was a difficult process to gain her trust, but I think that taking and keeping her was one of the best decisions I took in my life so far. :)

A while back I had a very skinny stray cat with one eye come by my house, I felt bad for her, so I gave her some food. And after that, she hasn't left me. I call her twinkie. She just likes to hang out on my porch. But a few months ago, she left six little surprises on my doorstep. I'm in the process of finding homes for them, but this one stays with me.

He's named tom, because he looks just like tom from tom and Jerry! He's favorite cat ever. :purrr:

This is an amazing story. Life has quite unexpected turns. :)

My family always had animals. First it was some bunnies, guinea pigs and later on there was chester. we got him from an organisation who rescues dogs from animal testing. He was 2 -4 years old when he first came to us and he was afraid of everything. He had never seen trees or grass before and wouldn't allow tall men to touch him.

But years passed and he grew older and seemed to have forgotten about the dark times of his life. Before he passed away, he was a dog like any other and had a happy and long life. :)

There are so many dogs (and other pets) out there without a home, but most want cute little puppies... =/

I don't have any pet myself, I guess I value too much being able to go anywhere, any time, without having a pet to look after.

I grew up literally surrounded by dogs and cats, as my mom's had around 20 St. Bernards and a few other races + at least 8 cats over the years.

Needless to say, I've developed a love for dogs and cats

Meet Pippa and Lucy!

The two sisters came to us three years ago as little kittens. Their third sister Mila still lives with her mother Trixie at our friends' house.

pippalucy.jpg

Pippa (old dark grey / black) is very cuddly and has a soft fur. She is open-minded and likes people visiting us. During the day she can spend hours on the balcony hiding between the plants or watching birds, people and falling leaves.

Lucy (very light orange / medium dark flesh) is a bit shy. She doesn't like being carried around or held too tight. She has a good taste and likes espresso just as much as I do. When I've finished drinking she licks out my cup and even reaches to the bottom with her paw if there's some liquid left.

Unfortunately they are not too fond of Lego, I guess it's because I get too absorbed with building and don't give them the attention they deserve. However they are always fascinated by remote controlled vehicles that move and make strange noises. What they really like about Lego is that sometimes I order stuff in large boxes that are perfect for hiding and tearing apart.
