TheLET Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 The patentee locomotive was a 2-2-2 locomotive designed by Robert Stephenson Company in the 1830's. It was on of the first locomotive types to be built in large numbers. Different versions of this type of locomotive were used in many countries. Examples of this type of locomotive include the Arend, one of the first steam locomotives in the Netherlands and the Adler. The Lego model is 8-studs wide, and uses BBB medium and xl size wheels. The two front wheels can move inward allowing the locomotive to negotiate curved tracks. The locomotive is not motorized. More pictures can be found on Flickr. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 How did you attach those tiles in such awesome manner? Also great detail with the ropes. Quote
legoman666 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Nice work with the tiles, how'd you attach them in the round? bar down the middle with clips or something? The droid arms on the trucks on the tender look very fragile, is it functional or for display only? Quote
Anticyclone Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Love what you did with the tiles for the boiler lagging. The whole locomotive is just perfect, great work! Quote
Skystorm87 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 The legend becomes lego! very nice job! Quote
Rail Co Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 WOW! Honestly incredible detail! Now you just need to add a train car or two (may put a motor on one so you can run it!) Love to see more models in the future! -RailCo Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 This locomotive is an icon and you have done a masterpiece! Grea model and perfect MOC! Quote
TheLET Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Thanks for your replies. I'm glad you like to model. How did you attach those tiles in such awesome manner? The tiles are connected with these parts to a technic connector with 4 bars. For those who are interested you can see the construction in this picture. The droid arms on the trucks on the tender look very fragile, is it functional or for display only? It is display only, it has no structural value. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) So the side panels are held only by pneumatic T parts? Looks very fragile but hey its not meant to do aynthing, right? Edited August 26, 2014 by Zblj Quote
Man with a hat Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Wow this is really great. We don't see those early steam locomotives very often. And you did a great job on this challenge. Magnificent details and the boiler works out perfectly. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 What a wonderful build, you did a great job capturing the look and feel of early steam in lego- not an easy thing to do. Quote
