LegoJalex Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I need this part (4596 Lever Small Base) disconnected from this. In LDD I can only get them connected (like this one), and I don't know if it is possible to seperate them? I need the base part for eyes in a model, so it will look a bit strange if I can't get them seperated. Any help is appreciated! Quote
Calabar Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 You should be able to do something similar editing the .lxf file. Take a look at this topic. Quote
LegoJalex Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 You should be able to do something similar editing the .lxf file. Take a look at this topic. Thanks. It works to seperate them (setting a high x,y,z value for the lever), but I could not delete the "lever"-part. And if I remove the lever part from the .lxfml-file it complains when I open it in LDD, and the whole lever+lever base has been removed. This is how the lever looks like in the .lxfml file. <Brick refID="140" designID="73587" itemNos="4220740"> <Part refID="140" designID="4592" materials="151"> <Bone refID="140" transformation="1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,-2.7999999523162842,0,-2.7999999523162842"> </Bone> </Part> <Part refID="141" designID="4593" materials="26"> <Bone refID="141" transformation="1,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,1,-2.7999999523162842,0.41999617218971252,-2.7999999523162842"> </Bone> </Part> </Brick> Quote
Calabar Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) Exactly, you cannot delete the lever, but you can move it aside. That's what you can obtain in this way, and that's the only way I know! Edited August 22, 2014 by Calabar Quote
LegoJalex Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) Yeah it seems like that is the only way. Not a nice solution, but at least it is seperated Edited August 22, 2014 by LegoJalex Quote
Superkalle Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 You can "separate" parts by making them invisible too. Try setting the materials="999" in the LXFML. Don't know what happens if you render in LDD2PovRay though Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Can you "tell" LDD2PovRay to not render certain parts? Quote
hrontos Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 No, you cannot, but you can find that strange material ID in the converted POV file and delete whole part. POV-Ray will not complain. Quote

What I really want to do is to get rid of that "lever" part, and keep only the base, because in the instructions the hidden part will still be shown, right? Quote

No problem to get rid of the lever part - just edit it's color to 999 instead. And after, the base will behave just like a "lose" brick that you can move around. And it will show up in the instructions too. However, the lever will still have its collision volumes, so you can't place anything where they are. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I tried a test file and setting material to 999 crashes my LDD :P Quote

The same thing happens for me when I set material to 999, LDD crashes. Quote
Superkalle Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 That's strange. I'm on 4.3.8, and I assume you guys are too. Do you have Advanced Shading or anything like that turned on. I have it off. Anyway, there should be another color that is "invisible" . Let me check it up. EDIT: OK, I tried 132 (possibley LEGO Black Glitter, and that also worked (i.e. does not render in LDD). Does it work for you? Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Nope 132 colors the brick totally white... This reminds me there is a very black color used for PF recievers and remotes which is not in color library! Quote
Gnac Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I remember "0" (zero) worked for making bricks invisible back in LDD 4.3.5, but that trick now results in a bright white part, much like the other "broken" materials such as 301 (chrome) silver. I wonder when that changed? Nope 132 colors the brick totally white... This reminds me there is a very black color used for PF recievers and remotes which is not in color library! Would it be 109 (Pc Black Ir)? I can see Spin̈al Tap enjoying that. Quote

Zerobricks Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Yep 109 it is for all you people of the dark! Quote

Does it work for you? Yep 4.3.8 and I turned off shading and outlining of bricks as well, but it still crashes when I set materials=999 on the lever. 132 made it completly white without any shading. But still if this would work, will the lever-part not show up in the instructions eventhough it is invisible? Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I played around abit and the odd thing is 132 makes bricks invisible BUT ONLY if you render with outlines. Also changin the shader level kind of ghosts pictures, here are pics: Quote
Superkalle Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 What happens if you try color "999" - does LDD still crash with these settings? Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) 999 crashes, but you can use any color above 200 and it works just like ID 132, the only difference is that in description of color (when you click on brick) there are question marks, material:?????
