ecwp1981 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Hi guys, I have been working on a few Light Cycles from the movie Tron back in the 80s. So far I have only been building them up on Lego Digital Designer and this is my final draft :) The designs are researched off various different designs and this is my interpretation so am hoping for some comments before I get piece off Bricklink and start building it. I am going to build the White one and see if I have enough funds to build all of them lol. Here are some screenshots off LDD. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 There are really cool looking. Will you share the LXF's? These would be great for an animation. Quote
ecwp1981 Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 Thanks. I will get them attached in a moment. I am working on the Tron Legacy version atm :) Quote
grum64 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Great builds. Decievingly simple yet instantly recognisable Quote
Andy D Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 If I had not seen these, I would not have believed that the Lightcycles were able to be built with LEGO! These are outstanding! Looking forward to the lxf. Andy D Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 They look great! Excellent job translating their shape into LEGO! Would you mind posting the .lfx? I'd like to try to see if I could mod it to carry a minifig. Quote
ecwp1981 Posted August 22, 2014 Author Posted August 22, 2014 I dont think it is possible to put a minifig in there lol I am working on a tron legacy one now and it is quite tight to put a fig in there. for these I would think it is best to leave them as it is. Anyway, here's the lxf Tron 80's Light Cycle: https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing Just finished working on the Legacy model. Here is a picture of it :) I cannot get the figure to "sit" into the bike on LDD so I just estimated the space in there so technically, the figure should be able to go in as the leg assembly is already in the bike. The design is roughly based on what I seen on google where I did a bit of research. Quote
droomangroup Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 awesome design, love the originals. i tried to get the LDD file, but google drive say we need to ask for permission to get the file. want to go that route or can you make it publicly available? great work! Quote
ecwp1981 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Hi there, sorry, about the permission thingy. I hardly ever share anything from google drive. It should work now :) Edited June 28, 2016 by ecwp1981 Quote
Rinzler Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 That's actually pretty awesome. I built some Legacy Cycles last year in white and yellow, I managed to fit the figures in perfectly Quote
ecwp1981 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Cool, are there any pics? would like to see how you did it. I suppose they would be bigger than what I created here then. Quote
James Mathis Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Really nice! Elegant simplicity. I'm sure you worked up quite a few versions to achieve this beautifully effective design solution. Love it! James Quote
murtaughf3 Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Nicely done. I really enjoy waiting the newer Tron movie and always thought there is a lot of potential for some very nice Lego sets to made. Quote
Rinzler Posted October 11, 2014 Posted October 11, 2014 Cool, are there any pics? would like to see how you did it. I suppose they would be bigger than what I created here then. Sadly, I have no pics. But I may be able to muster up a parts list and some instructions if you would like me to Quote
