Zerobricks Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) Yo guys! Do tell about a bit about your editing software. FOR MOVIES: I mostly use windows live movie maker, but for more demanding things I use the Videopad video editor. While WMK is really simple to use and basic, with a few tricks you can get to quite some level of editing, the only thing I'd wish it had was ability to resize, crop and merge two or more videos onscreen. Videopad is far more complex and the graphical interface does look a bit dated... It takes quite a long time to figure out all the functions and the program is very unforgiving. Lots of simple thing like adding text or subtitles can be very time consuming due to the unintiutive design of the program. Also the program is quite unstable (even more than WMK), yesterday it crashed at least 5 times while editing a 10 min long video. Also the generated videos are usally very raw and hance big. I think the video I edited yesterday was the last video I edited in videopad alone because the program is simply not good at handling large, long files with lots of effects. I will use it for parts of videos you cannot edit in WMK, but for the final editing montage I will stick to the WMK, because agaisnt all odds its more relaible and user friendly. FOR PICTURES: For picture editing is use PAINT.NET, its a simple program but its good enough for my needs. What are your experiences? Edited August 22, 2014 by Zblj Quote
grum64 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 (edited) Having used Windows Movie Maker for several years I'm now finding my way round iMovie after changing to a 13" Mac Book Pro Retina (Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 1TB Flash Storage. Wasn't going to spend as much as I did but thought I'd better stretch the spec in the hope of future proofing it as best I could). I'm in the process of editing 13.5hrs of full HD video for a friend (hence no progress on the Cobra ) and although I don't yet find iMovie as immediately intuitive as WMM that probably says more about me than the software. I'm sure all will become apparent as I use it more. Haven't got round to editing photos yet Edited October 2, 2014 by grum64 Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Which Movie maker did you use? The old one for XP, or the newer one for vista, win7,8? Quote
