So if you want to expand your collection with various different parts, what would generally be cheaper price per part, whole sets or bricklink orders?

And otherwise: if you are looking for a reasonable amount of one type of brick, buy it on bricklink, because finding that part in many sets will cost you much more.

The Bricklink sellers might have bought the sets on a sale, which means it would be possible for them to be competitive with regular priced sets. It's also possible that the markup on specific pieces is uneven. A few popular pieces might have a big margin, while uninteresting ones could be sold at a loss. Also try to factor in shipping costs in this equation.

There will never be a simple answer to your question.

Bricklink is, ultimately, never a particular "cheap" way to get parts. Bulks CAN be a good deal, but you can often end up with broken LEGO, heavily worn pieces, other brands and such.

I personally find the best way to get cheap parts is to buy sets on clearance.

The thing is (when i get a job) I want to buy some other stuff than technic to expand my building skills, especially studded. Yeh it seems sets will do unless I really ned that special piece for something.
