Modelmaker Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Which part do find most valuable? and i don't means "costs the most" i mean the part you run out of all the time, the part you can never have enough of. at the moment i seem to always run out of 1x1 bricks in whatever colour I'm using at the time so i have to switch to using another colour or use a technic piece with the hole hidden. Also tiles, no matter how many i have i never seem to have enough to cover the space i want to in one colour Edited August 17, 2014 by Modelmaker Quote
jodawill Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) One of my friends has the NXT brick in both black and chrome gold. The chrome gold one has probably never been sold before. I have no idea how much it would be worth. Edit: Oops! I should have read the post before responding. My most valuable parts are the brown log 1x2s, 1x4s, and palisades. I use a lot of those. alanyuppie Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 For me Its those pairs of symmetrical 2x3 wedge plates . I was organising my wedge plates yesterday to ensure most of them are paired up nicely, and I found out its these 2x3 wedge plates that are severely lacking. Since I MOC mostly LEGO Transformers , these plates appear everywhere (torsos, limbs, tailfins, chests and even as robot faceplates ). Sadly the procurement of such parts from bricklink is tricky. many sellers offered a piece in one side ,and without the opposing ones in my preferred color. *duh* Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 The RC unit, and the RC motors... Also the Power Puller wheels. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I think it's the foliage pieces an the slopes. Quote
HawkLord Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Foliage pieces and some transparent bricks as they're both great for nature scenes. I would add in base plates, even though they're not really a brick so to speak. Can never have too many blank slates to work on... Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I have no idea but I have this minifig and he can sell for quite a bit. Quote
Boulderer Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 This is a tough one to answer. The most valuable brick is usually the one that you cannot find at the time. For me it can vary from plates, to wheels, to tyres, to bricks, to beams, to technic connectors. An easier question would be, which brick do you never run short of ... that'd be the black technic friction pin 2780 Quote
Slobey Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 2x1 light blueish grey... I can never have enough for castle building Quote
grum64 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Going by what most people say, I would think the most valuable parts I have are my 6 RC motors (in my 3 as yet unbuilt RC sets) and 6 Power Puller wheels/tyres. The odd 2 PP wheels/tyres were in a huge box of mixed Technic parts I bought from a local yard sale for £15. The box also had 2 x Power Puller Technic Guys but no other PP parts. Strange huh! In terms of what I personally value most I'd have to say it's my recently re-acquired 8258 as that was the first Technic set I ever built and my 8043 as that was the most challenging. Also, my complete set of Technic Guys with 2 additional sets (8714 & 8300) that are still boxed and sealed. I'm not really sure why I value these so much. I just do. Quote

I have 4 but I need 4 more rims because i used 4 on the cheetah offroader. Quote
Modelmaker Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 OK i have to ask. What so special about the power pulley wheels? I haven't touched any technic stuff in 2 decades so what did i miss? Quote
klinton Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Right now? It's blue wedges and tan plates. :p Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Probably something to do with 9V trains... Motors, straight track, or more likely anything with my Santa Fe & cars Quote
grum64 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 ... What so special about the power pulley wheels?... Relatively rare I guess. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Methinks the original poster should have clarified what they were looking for in the title also since most people are commenting on actual value as opposed to intrinsic personal value for MOCing. As for MOCing, it all depends on what project I am working on at the time. But pieces I tend to run out of frequently are 1x1 and 1x2 plates in light bley and tan. My main projects currently require(d) a lot of those and I never seem to have enough. I will need to make another bulk order sometime. Thankfully I won't run out of my sand green cheese wedges. I ordered 750 recently... Quote
Sid Sidious Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Half pins are probably the most useful part for me. Thankfully they are also one of the cheapest parts there is, and color rarely matters when I use them. The two pieces I want most for Lego to make are a half pin with + axle and half pin with friction bars. Quote
VintageLegoEra Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Rare parts from 80's,,,especially those plate were they are solid stud at the back instead of hollow stud in modern plates! Quote
Legotom Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Currently it's any bricks in old light grey, but especially 1x1 bricks and plates. Impossible to find in a giant mixed crate of Lego, but essential for what I'm doing. Going to have to raid Bricklink. Quote
sithewok Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Dark grey tiles. I've only been collecting for a short while, but I never seem able to find them for decent cost. Quote
talos Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I never seem to have enough 2x2 dark bluish gray tiles either. The ones used in sidewalks on the modulars.. Quote
antp Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I already several time ran out of the 1x1 brick with 1 or 2 stud on side. They tend to be quite useful for SNOT building, but as it is a more recent part I have less of those than the classic headlight brick. I remember when I discovered it, I thought "I hope they'll not replace the headlight brick by that"... and in the end both are complementary, allowing different things. Quote
