MOC: Galaxy Squad Pest Annihilator

Here is my first Space MOC to be posted to EuroBricks. Introducing the Pest Annihilator a.k.a. The Cootie Crusher. This modular ship consits of three sections which can be separated into their individual components. The version in the photos represent version 2.5 of the creation as it has undergone some changes to make the vehicle more stable and kid friendly in the last 10 months. The drive section that contain all the Power Functions features is built on an odd Technic beam basis while the structure around the chassis is an even styled system build.

Looks terrific! You might want to try to incorporate a bit more gray in the color scheme, since this looks just a bit too orange, and I think you have some transparent elements performing the wrong functions (yellow for weapons and light blue for thrusters is the way it's done in the sets). But the Power Functions is a really great idea. How well does it work? For instance, do those legs slip very much on the floor? Are there any flooring materials that are especially difficult for it?

Very nice. Love your use of colours but I agree with VK-318, a few more grey parts would 'dilute' the orange.

Thanks for the advice and I will work to dilute some of the orange from the MOC.

It walks pretty well. It moves easily in all directions and gets nice traction on any interior table or floor surface. I can add some rubber dampers to the back pair of legs to make it walk more easily on slick surfaces like glass or glazed ceramic, but the biggest issue with this MOC is the weight of the Lego around the walker. The frictionless pins were not engineered to handle lots of use while supporting a heavy load.

Hopefully, I can get video of the walking action while I am at BrickFair this week. With my latest tuneup and the addition of a "quarter bushing" on the pinion gears, It should scoot across the floor at a pretty good clip. And it should easily handle the weight of having both ships attached to the walking unit with a full charge on the batteries.

This also means I have crossed over to the "dark side" and now modify molded parts to make them work in Technic setups. That is what happens when you spend too much time around train guys.

All I can really say that this moc is fantastic and that the upper section reminds me Jedi Fighter from Star Wars.

I remember seeing this at Brickfair, as it was right next to my models, but don't think I met you there. It would be great to have a video of it walking. I always like to see space models that incorporate Technic functionality like this.

Sorry that I did not meet you at BrickFair, but I was nursing Peter Morris's space train and Nate Brill's monorail with Mike MacLeod on the DelVaLug Moon Base. I also moved this MOC to our parking lot on Saturday and then did not operate it because I had an issue where the main plate that supports all the super structure developed a bow and caused the walker to come apart when I attempted to operate the power functions (grrr!!). This means when I returned back home, Ver. 1.45 of the MOC emerged with a modified structure to support the top ship and the front ship.

I will have this MOC at Philly BrickFest (I know that event is a dirty word with the majority of the community at this time but it is in my back yard and less than 15 minutes from my house) in the next few weeks and it should be running then so I should get a video of it.

I have plans to build a second drive unit to demonstrate how the Power Functions work.

Thanks for the feedback and I would love to see more Galaxy Squad MOCs from the space community. I loved the colors in the theme.
