Yo guys, this is a model I've been working for the past week. The idea behind it is that the 6 wheels can support the modele in the water in order for it to swim... While it kind of works for the bare chassis, as soon as I added the cabine and the bed its swimming characteristics degraded to those of a rock...

While I usually dont really post many unfinished/failed models I decided to make an exception with this one since I think there is potential for a redesign or simillar.

So here's the main picture. I used the panels from the unimog for the bed. Also the bottom of the bed is actually studded in order to reinfroce the chassis.

The sides of the bed can be opened. You can clearly see a 8 bladded screw which was suppose to be used in water. Notice the high position of all the PF stuff.

The chassis is made so the model has all wheel drive with a central coaxial differential like the original:

Here's the bare chassis without motors and bodywork:

The suspension uses lnear actuator brackets and bewel gears to power the wheels. Funny fact depending how you position the bewel gears, you can make the drive torque of the main axles help the wheels go over bumps.

An earlier version actually used an automatic gearbox, but it was sadly too inefficient:

And here's a video of the truck in action:

I would say rebuild the chassis, but less complicated. Maybe something like Sariels BMR-2 (chassis) and use one motor for each function. Buggy for propeller in the rear, a M for steering in water, an M for steering on land and an XL for drive. I guess that should work...

No. Gearboxes and such, maybe you can add those later. ;-)

I agree with Black-Build - make it simplier. ;) However, I would let there the function of swithcing between one drive motor, but it would be manual ;) (because of weight) But I like the idea, and lookig forward to see improved version ;)

A friend of mine has a big boat hull and when he gets back from holidays he's gonna lend it and I'm gonna give it another go

Thanks guys!

Looks awesome! But you will need more tires or less body work.

I have done a lot of experiments in this area and I'm also working on a monster Rolligon to

Check out the proportions of my small Rolligon to get an idea what you will need.

My advice is lose the propellers as well, they don't do anything at all towards propulsion from all my tests and you could probably make the drive-train more simpler.

Also try crawler tires as they hold more air.

Air tanks are useless too, each one only displaces 31grams of weight!

Boat hull would be cool! Deff give that a try.
