Bricktrain Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Last weekend LUG 4/2 held the annual brick show at the airforce museum in Christchurch. In previous shows there had been a lot of duplication of models displayed so for this years show 6 of us pooled our sets for a big combined display. We had 117 different models on the display, winning the largest collection award. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130060.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130061.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130062.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130063.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130064.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130069.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130070.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130071.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130072.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130073.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130074.jpg I also displayed my collection of trucks derived from the 8285 set and the 42030 loader copy with a modified 8275 dozer. My Rough Terrain Crane also. Henrik was a big truck fan and really enjoyed the trucks, I think that helped with the second place award. He was surprised how big Technic is in NZ. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130065.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130066.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130067.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130068.jpg Edited July 16, 2014 by Blakbird Removed oversize images. BachAddict Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 There are between 200 and 300 Technic sets, so not all of them! 8855 was the only set with both models present (you can just see it in the corner of the helicopter photo). Next year there will be a lot more B-models! The set we missed the most was 8480 Space Shuttle. I hope we can track down one in the country or import one for next year.. Other sets available but not present were 8282, 8288, 8416 and 8435. Quote
aol000xw Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I was looking at the pictures and then I realized that everytime Blackbird goes to his Lego room it Is like beign in a brick show, a big one Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Besides a few MOCs the OOBs are really boring Quote
technicfan Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Bricktrain do you get all your parts chromed in NZ or do you import them already chromed?. Quote

Matt The Tuba Guy Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Might as well add that this is the show where my Technic Tower was displayed. Someone should post a couple of photos of the GBC. It was pretty small, but still awesome. There were certainly a lot of people there, I think I heard about 26,000 in total over the weekend! I can't wait until next year! Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Hopefully Cristoph or one of the others can add some more, I only have one pic of it when it wasn't working http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bricktrain/brickshow2014/p7130081.jpg Quote
Blakbird Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Awesome pictures but I'm afraid they are way over Eurobricks' size limit. I've replaced them with links. Quote
Wolvennz Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 hello this is a link to a Afol facebook page which has a video of my super sized 42025 cargo plane, I used two sets and only a few extra components https://www.facebook.com/groups/656587207731061/ Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Someone has decided to move this from Technic, so I guess I should link to the folder with some of the non-technic displays as well. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=545760 hello this is a link to a Afol facebook page which has a video of my super sized 42025 cargo plane, I used two sets and only a few extra components https://www.facebook...56587207731061/ Hi Jason, welcome to EB. Unfortunately some of us arent FB members so cant see your video, I have seen it in action though. Quote
BrickMonkeyMOCs Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Besides a few MOCs the OOBs are really boring I can confirm that there were plenty of MOCs on show in addition to the technic set collection. I have pics from the entire show, but the only ones I have online to link to are of my own table. Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Do you have to be in the LUG 4/2 to have a display at the show or can you just pay and get a display because I'm thinking of displaying this year Quote
BrickMonkeyMOCs Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Do you have to be in the LUG 4/2 to have a display at the show or can you just pay and get a display because I'm thinking of displaying this year Hi Kiwi Builder, You don't need to be a LUG member to attend as an exhibitor. All you need to do is follow the link from this page to complete registration for the show. There is a NZ$10 registration fee for signing up as an exhibitor regardless of whether or not you are a LUG member, but LUG membership itself is free. More info on the 2015 show can be found here: http://lug4x2.org/cbs2015/ Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Is there very many people in LUG 4/2 involved in Technic because from looking through the photostream I couldn't see any. Because if there are other people there using Technic then it's more likely that I'll join. Quote
BrickMonkeyMOCs Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Only four more days to this year's show. Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I'd better finish off the last, relatively major, touches on the Foden then Close but no cigar comes to mind when thinking about build progress. Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Looking good so far Adam. Mine are all packed in the landrover ready to go, just need to find a log for the logskidder in the morning. I am only taking one truck and trailer this year the 8 wheel tipper and trailer since I will be running a stall and wont be able to demonstrate any display models. Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) Cheers Paul, I will be interested to see the logskidder when I arrive at the show. The truck basically has nothing in common with what you saw at your place, the chassis has been redesigned so that it now has full suspension, the front bumper has been rebuilt, the crane now has a two stage extension going for it and by far the biggest change would be that it is no longer remote controlled, she's manual with just motors for the crane's control. The whole unit is just shy of 140CM with the trailer extended so the dining room table has gotten significantly smaller in the past week The only issue I've had is that with being down in Timaru for the week and coming back up tomorrow I haven't had an opportunity to organize a load for it. I won't have time to build anything out of Lego to put on the deck as that it's 121 Studs/ 96.8CM long but I might get lucky and find something that looks right for it, a length of piping or something would be ideal. At least weight won't be an issue with a strong frame and 6 stiff shocks on the rear of the trailer. Edited July 9, 2015 by Kiwi_Builder Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 I have a lattice boom section that I built for my step deck trailer that I could bring as I am not showing that one now, if you want to have a look at it, I dont know if you saw it when you were here. From memory it would be about 100 studs long Quote
Kiwi_Builder Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Thanks for the offer, yeah I remember that, it would be perfect for the trailer. I'll most likely be showing up to set up my display after dinner at some point between 7:00PM and 8:30PM, is there any chance you could get a photo of it for me? Quote
