Klaus-Dieter Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) Thank you very much for this information, just2good, lightningtiger and The Kid! After I had read the first report from the London TF, I was really enthusiastic about this set. To tell the truth, that's not the case anymore: °Instead of a boring Lego truck a regular postal van would have been much, much better. °"Breakdown truck" supposably means that we're getting another tow truck of which we've been getting a whole army the last years anyway. °With the Lego Store being only one floor big and only eight studs wide, I don't see it including all three indispensable things: PaB wall, shelve with Lego sets cashpoint. °That the coffee shop is only a kisok leads me to the conclusion that it'll be only one floor big and won't include a place to sit down and drink your coffee. Considering these things and that I don't necessarily need a second tram, garage and Lego truck and that the set will be really expensive (180 Euros), I hope that Nuremberg TF will show us that I still want this set since it might be much better than I fear at the moment. Sorry to be that pessimistic. Klaus-Dieter Edited January 23, 2015 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Ouch, the first cold shoulder for City Square......true, we don't really need another Lego delivery truck/van.......but I don't remember 'The Kid' saying it was yellow with Lego stickered on the side of it......or did he ? I wonder if you can easily fuse Town Square and City Square together to make it even bigger.............silly me, of course you can it's Lego and if you want to change anything you can. Quote

I do remember: a small, one-story LEGO Store with another, larger building joined to it, a yellow LEGO delivery van, Quote
SMC Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Ouch, the first cold shoulder I am starting to feel the same way, the problem with the bigs sets with losts of smaller builds is that you end up with things you don't want. It also means you only find it in the lego shop so you have to pay full price. Quote
*thomas* Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I never bought any of those sets (town/city square) for the reasons stated above. You just end up getting a bunch of vehicles and some small building. LEGO should really put some focus on city buildings instead of vehicles. Quote

It also means you only find it in the lego shop so you have to pay full price. Well, if you don't like the small builds......change them but you do have a point I though this was an odd design. talos Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I agree, I got the last City Square set, mainly to get the bus, and had to take the little crane and street sweeper, which now sit on a shelf. I would of preferred another building in lieu of the vehicles.. Quote

Don't we all want more buildings, but Lego City designs love designing vehicles more than buildings......perhaps they need new designers eh ? Quote
MAH4546 Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Apologies, I guess. Still, Nuremberg really does look and sound wrong to a German. Very wrong. Sure, but a lot of German cities do in foreign language. In Italian, Munich is "Monaco." Quote

*thomas* Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 (edited) Ah, but they would say that's what creator and creator expert is for ! That's indeed what a lot of people do, but, the trouble with the creator buildings is that it is always some kind of family home. You always end up with: city line: policestations firestations railwaystation a port (which almost only consists out off a crane and dock) creator line: family homes (in many forms) Why not make a decent: post office bakeshop coffeeshop pizzaria clinic veterinarian's house/clinic a farm an airport with control tower and one or 2 gates + check in pharmacy docter's house They could do all kinds of building that have the same level of detail as their vehicles or creator houses, I don't see why they don't do this. Yes, I know, we can moc all of these, but for kids (and their parents who don't always do mocs) it could be nice to have something else than a little buidling smaller than a truck. This all sounds so negative and by no means do I want to say LEGO doesn't do an effort, but I think they don't focus enough an every-day life. Edited January 24, 2015 by *thomas* Quote
jfbat Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 It also means you only find it in the lego shop so you have to pay full price. That's not necessarily the case: we have a few non-official Lego-stores over here in the Netherlands that do often stock these presumably "Lego-shop only" sets for a competitive (i.e. lower) price. A bit of patience is often required, though, it might take a few weeks konger than the release and sell date at Lego. I agree, I got the last City Square set, mainly to get the bus, and had to take the little crane and street sweeper, which now sit on a shelf. I would of preferred another building in lieu of the vehicles.. I'm guessing these town sets are primarely targeted at kids as a complete play set, and in those you'd want some buildings, some vehicles etcetera. If you only want one of the vehicles or something like that, just get the instructions and build it yourself (maybe bricklinking it). To be honets, of the summer wave of city sets, at the moment I'm only interested in that city square, but first some pictures. The rest of the sets/themes... meh. Quote
jonwil Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Some of those items have been done before in City and some are covered by Friends (like the vet clinic) Quote
SMC Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 One of the problems with the last big city set was the crane, if you wanted a crane Lego make building site sets every few years. The bus was great but I wanted two. The two shops were ok but will they fit the same style as the next ones. Seems like a lego shop would sell really well but do we need another garage along with it? *thomas* Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Some of those items have been done before in City and some are covered by Friends (like the vet clinic) I know, but the colors from the friends theme do not always go well together with the city line. Quote
Faefrost Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Oh god ! My poor credit card . Still , no gas station yet ! How long has it being since they doesn't produce a gas station ?? Why they have produce one ? One of the current new Friends sets has gas pumps. Quote
ritzcrackerman Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 That's good, we wouldn't want the same tram......the TRU one wasn't the best in my opinion......roll on Toy Fairs we need pictures ! That tram (streetcar) is a dead ringer for streetcars I see here in my hometown of Portland, OR. The tram is the only thing from the Public Transport set I didn't mod! ;) Quote

danimarroquin Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Hopefully they look like the new ones in Toronto , I think those are made by bombardier . Quote

danimarroquin Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I heard some rumours that they are some leaked pics around . Any link to them ? Quote

danimarroquin Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) I agree w the airport line with 2 gates , I guess the control tower was giving on the last cargo airplane so we won't get it this time ,but will give more space for the set to have 2 gates and have a national carrier plane . Giving space for a only international jet liner plane set , that hopefully has brand new bigger engines , new mild on wings that look more realistic and can take the looks of a 777/787 type of modern twin engine transatlantic plane . I think also , the next city line they could incorporate the police as a air base for all those helicopters and fire in to the airport fire department for the airport operations . lightningtiger Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 My gut tells me it might be a bit different in the front.....we have had a lot of new windscreen, etc., components produced in the last five years, yep that old tram is five years old this year. Doesn't time fly eh ? Quote
