lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 What ? A modular from LT ? Yes, it's an Octan Rural office and store. I should of said picture heavy I guess but you can see the two sections that come away so repairs or minifig positioning can be done. Any comments and questions feel free to post them. Quote
Withacee Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) Well, after regaining consciousness... Congrats on a finished modular! And a nice one and all! Love it when the interior is visible from the outside; just add enough windows Great design, with the angled walls (my favourite part). Easy to adjust to fit a modular street as well. Would it be an idea to replace the profile bricks with masonry bricks? Mere details... Keep putting those bricks together! Edited June 30, 2014 by Withacee Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Thanks 'Withacee' for your kind words and feedback. I chose those bricks for that effect of a late 50's early 60's building design rare in modulars I think. To explain, downstairs is the store/showroom/merchandise sales, upstairs agro-business (real estate, livestock, finance and insurance). Quote
eurotrash Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Blimey! Who are you and what have you done with the real LT? Are we going to see a ransom demand next? Seriously though. It looks really good. I like the inverted slopes on the front, the 1x2 grille detailing on the facade, the interior design bits and the pullout sections. Tip of the hat LT! Quote
dignow Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Wow, really striking features on the building especially the inverted buttresses. The interiors are very well done as well. If I were asked (and I haven't been so take this advice for what you paid for it) I would add in some red and green stripes at the top of the building - nothing too much, just a pop, maybe remove the top two layers of bricks and lay down two rows of green plates, two rows red, and two rows white. Just to really brand it as an Octan building. Even without it really is a sharp looking building. Thanks for posting it. Quote
monsinjor Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Very very nice. I like the angular walls. There's no such build where LT is not the master, right? :) But tell me... where are the Octan colors? Quote
cimddwc Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Really a great building! I like the architecture (and I think masonry bricks wouldn't work that well here), and you interiors are excellent as always, of course. Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Thanks everyone , it might not be my last modular, because I have worked out my style so I'm full of surprises.......now also I haven't made the brick-built sign yet and new fuel pumps.....that's today......so keep watching as usual ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) Thanks '3BrickFriends' for your kind words as well, I was going originally do my usual open back but I thought of a fusion idea of a modular with access panels/removable walls. the lower floor is a combo design of two 1950's hardware stores on the east coast of Australia.....I'll try and find those pictures again. Edit - found them...... .....and I can't show you the picture thanks to image extension Edited June 30, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
charly1221 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 not bad, not bad. Maybe you...... you....... agh, I can't say anything Maybe I can........ no, I can´t Well, only..... Not Bad Oh, I got it maybe you would make it taller, Maybe, I don't like small buildings, maybe Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks 'charly1221', , no not taller....because it's meant to be in a rural town....so yeah I might try a few more buildings to go along with this....might be a post office, but again not to tall. Keep watching for those small additions to this everyone ! Quote
ER0L Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Wow, what an exceptional design - a very original building, I especially love the contrast between plain white elements and the dark bluish grey profile bricks. The interior is great as always, too. Looking forward to more of those Googie style buildings from you! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks 'ER0L', I'm just working on the Octan sign and new fuel pump for this......then I can start the post office which will be a modularised version of a recent post station......keep watching ! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) It screams for red/green stripe around it! I do like the design of it though! Edited July 1, 2014 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Criga88 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I like the corrugation on the walls, but I think that throne and sink out the back is brilliant. I can't wait to see what you do with your signage, you have a knack for it. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks 'Criga88' and 'Lordofdragonss' for your kind words.......hmm, the colour will be in the sign and pump.....keep watching ! Edit - how does this look ? Edited July 1, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 (edited) Update time....... Keep watching ! Edit - has anyone spotted the error I just saw I did ? Edited July 1, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
SalvoBrick Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) Ohh a modular! Really nice, considering you do a lot of details, leaving the open back looks... somewhat "wrong". A good idea is adding a removable wall or roof to show what's in the inside, also since your buildings are mostly with only ground floor This building (modular or not) is a good step in the direction of better realism. Kristel Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Nice! I particularly like the angled parts on the wall and the feature wall created with the grill bricks. I also like how you have done the basin in the bathroom. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks 'SalvoBrick' and 'Kristel' for your kind words.......I'm still think of doing some more to it......though not much. Keep watching ! Quote
monsinjor Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Nice! I like the simple use of Octan colors on the building. Very clever. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Thanks 'monsinjor' for your kind words too, I'm thinking of adding some fences to this piece to give it more realism......keep watching. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 Quick little update...... Keep watching ! Quote
