D3K Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Ah, a nice B-model would surely be the icing on the cake! I'll see what I can do myself on my entry! Quote
Appie Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I see I am not the only one who was thinking of making a B-Model for the contest. Good job Quote
Erik Leppen Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I liked your model A LOT better when it was a loader. The huge gripper looks out of scale and makes the entire model pretty ugly (in my opinion). A loader may be a bit less original, but it looks much better! Quote

Thanks for comments, Erik the machine still being a loader, you can use the bucket or the grapple removing two 4-axles with stop. Grapple, bucket and machine 199 parts, machine without grapple around 170 parts. You are right with the grapple scale it will be easy to fix it and I will use less bricks. Some color and grapple changes, I have to build two to remove and count . Edited June 21, 2014 by jorgeopesi Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 More pics with green motor . 196 pieces machine, grapple and bucket... the question is... remove the grapple gaining 25 pieces to improve the machine?, functions vs aesthetics... Quote
Eraman Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I don't like grapple version, front-end loader version is better and more beautifull Quote
Erik Leppen Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 The version with the loader bucket just looks like a LEGO set. Really. It's a magnificent model. Use it. It even has a steering wheel for the operator :D Just change the 3L axle with stud that operates the bucket tilt - make it longer so that on one side you could put a 12t double bevel gera to operate as the turning wheel. This is what set designers would do too. Also, if you free some parts, you could add rear lights. Also, that lone lime beam seems off. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you for advices guys, no grapple ok. New design with smaller steering wheel, the lime brick was only a joke , I have to count the pieces again... Quote
drakmin Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 If the double LA's would be controlled from the rear this would be perfect! You might be able to have one U joint below the steering hinge to route the power to the rear instead of having it right on the LA. Quote
Appie Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Great looking redesign! I'd too suggest moving the control for the bottom LA's to the rear. Would also fill up the rear a bit with axles, gears and whatnot. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 That´s why I can´t move the L.A.s control to the rear part. I would have to make more wide the entire machine and the bucket would seem to be smaller, everybody think that this machines are wide but not. Quote
Appie Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) I see your problem, would have to redesign the whole bottom construction. I will leave it up to you if you want to do that since the model is fine as it is, but I do see options to make it work. Even with 1 stud space between the 2 LA's and the hinge to the back section behind it. Edited June 25, 2014 by Appie Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Now it has 187 bricks, with one stud more you would need more bricks and you would have a functional machine with a small bucket. It is easy to build but has much more design than it looks, do it and check , my favorite part is the arm. Believe me, I tried to do what you say more than once . jorgeopesi Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Playing with colors , 197 pieces... Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 35x15x10 studs with 199 parts. It has functional pendular rear axle, arm, bucket, steering wheel, hood, cabin door and hand of god steering. I tried to build it as real as I could and I think it really looks like a great mining wheel loader. Quote
grum64 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Excellent build, glad you got the piece count down. With so many fantastic entries this MINI competition is surely the strongest EB competition ever. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 Thank you grum64, a video with the features. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=invJPrWhj04&feature=youtu.be Quote
Erik Leppen Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 To be really honest I REALLY like the red version. That said, of all the yellow versions, the final one has the best color scheme with the black arm and the black top over the back section. Great design. It even has a swinging rear axle, nice touch :) Quote

N-4K0 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 The red version looks interesting. If all the yellow and red pieces were available in orange, which I doubt they are, you could make an orange one. I personally don't think the blue pieces fit. If you have dark blue beams, I think it would look better than ordinary blue. Anyway, this last version is the best one, I think. Quote

Thank you, the red one has something but I preffer the classic yellow one, the orange one seems imposible to me... I made some small changes saving pieces, you can see in the long long video, I have to take a new picture of the parts used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jaYVN51EvU&feature=youtu.be Edited June 29, 2014 by jorgeopesi Quote
