Faefrost Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see some sort of "test the waters" set. Maybe something along the lines of the Pirates minifig set we got last year. Quote
rollermonkey Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Theoretically, ssS! could actually BE the test the waters set. Quote

But I mean something more stand alone, without the movie tie in. I still can't believe how big this thing is. It's not that much smaller than the UCS X Wings. I almost wish they had designed one of those Star Wars hidden handles into it. Quote
ThiagoMaster Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 What a great movie they did to sell this! Lego is really working on serious marketing, well done! Quote
jonwil Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 There are also movie clips for the construction mech and drop ship too. Quote
Actaeon Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I love the movie! This set also looks like it had a ton of cool functions! Quote
DPrime Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I hope this goes back in stock soon. I think I'd like to get one for my nephew's birthday coming up... A mix of CS minifigs in old colours (white, red, yellow, blue or black) and possibly new (dark blue, green, orange, etc.) would be just superb. Maybe include a little radar station thing, too. :) Quote
LegoMathijs Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Very nice review! Like the several functions, such as the ships which can be disconected from the main ship. Maybe a landing gear would be a nice Modify to this ship Quote
MOC82 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I really love all of the play features on Benny's Spaceship. Also how it brings back a bit of the feel of Classic Space. Quote
snefroe Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 hmmmm i still have mine boxed... i can only open it until after I haved moved to a new place i'm so looking forward to building this one Quote

Eh, theyre not really CS. The fact that the spaceship is selling like hotcakes isnt because its CS. Its because its an awesome spaceship from the Lego Movie! And the exosuit wont sell because its CS, but mainly because its cool. Quote

MOC82 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I would really love to buy this, but seeing that it is $99.99+tax, it would really zero out my wallet! Quote
william28 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) I regret I couldn't buy it few weeks ago when I was in US. Luggage was full and couldn't buy it. By the way good review. Edited June 15, 2014 by william28 Quote
BeO Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Really great set, this one. Built mine the other day and had a blast doing it. I got a few of the first Classic Space sets when I was a kid, but never the big ships. They were too expensive. Well, finally I have a big ship :) Building this thing was a nice walk down nostalgia boulevard. Little details here and there reminding me of the old sets, but still with a modern approach and new fancy parts. I can highly recommend this to anyone who enjoyed playing with the Classic Space sets back in the day. My LL918 will look tiny next to this one... Quote
Colossus Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 What to do on a Saturday night when the wife n kids are in bed sick? Why, bust out The Lego Movie n watching while getting to work on Benny's Spaceship! Easily one of my favourite sets to come out on a long time! It was fun to build, and definitely got me reminiscing about being a young lad n building with my Classic Space sets. Funny how I spent a lot of time trying to build Star Wars ships out of them waaaaaaaay back then. Now, you can't throw a 2x2 brick down the toy aisle without hitting a Star Wars Lego set. Luckily, I found my old Space bricks, so I can't wait to incorporate them into some new creations. The blue bricks held up rather well, but the white and light grey...not so much. Quote
BrickieB Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I bought this set after reading your review, and it is simply excellent! I also love the fact that it is exactly as in the movie (as far as I can tell), unlike so many other sets which are diffrent in details (metalbeard) or a big way (seacow). Thanks for the review! rollermonkey Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I'd have to say that Cloud Cuckoo Land is the set least accurate to the movie. ;) Quote
ETAV8R Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Hadn't seen this here on EB but I think it is well worth noting. Definitely has upped my want list of Benny's Spaceship from 2 to 4. I'd been waiting for a moc from the spaceship. Quote

Cloud Cuckoo Land in the movie was massive, with The Dog being one of the only real points of interest, and most scenes relying largely on massive assemblies of minifigs. The Cloud Cuckoo Palace set was one of the "girliest" sets released in the Lego Movie theme, but it seems to have sold impressively to both girls and boys thanks largely to its THREE main characters (one of them, Unikitty, being exclusive to that set in her standard depiction) and its very affordable price point. I can't imagine a more accurate rendition of the scene could have matched that. The Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! has the advantage that, rather than having to depict a fully-furnished setting (like the Sea Cow or Cloud Cuckoo Land) that in the movie has to be scaled up to allow the full cast plenty of room to operate, it simply has to seat the main characters as they travel from Point A to Point B (with MetalBeard riding on top). And unlike the Cloud Cuckoo Palace which is one of the most gender- and theme-defying sets ever released by Lego, the SPACESHIP! is, well, a spaceship—a proven seller from the get-go, with massive built-in appeal for fans both new and old. Only the stripes are missing on the spinning dishes... Besides the box specifically states that it's a "Palace" rather than a complete representation of the "Land in its entirety." I think Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP was specifically designed to be movie accurate as the appeal for a set that is not only accurate, but also is the center of one of the most hilarious and memorable parts of the movie would sell really, really well. rollermonkey Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 OMG. I must watch movies differently, because I never saw that. Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I wish I has a screengrab of it, but Cloud Cuckoo Palace is also visible in Finn's "box of parts" when his dad is telling him to go play with his own Lego. Quote

I is also showed in the Lego Movie Videogame, plenty of times BTW. My daughter celebrated when she saw her set in Finnn´s box and in the game. I went to Florida 2 weeks ago, I just bought the LAST Benny´s Spaceship at Downtown Disney... I searched for it in all Orlando, and NOTHING. I had to call the Lego Store, on monday, 10am and made my reservation. At 3pm, I grab it and they told me they are gone for a long time, months perhaps Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I'm sure it will be backordered for a while. I haven't bought one. I was waiting until Christmas, so I'm sure they will make more. It will just take time. If not, then I guess I missed out. But I'd think this would be rated as one of the top toys this year. Quote
