Jullian_pdx Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I'm in the process if building a AWD car with twin PF L motors. Is it proper to have a differential on the transmission line between the front and rear differentials? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I think it will depend on what make/kind of car you are going to be making. Quote
Tommy Styrvoky Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 It also depends on Size and if you decide to have locking diffs on the axles. Quote
Jullian_pdx Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 I'm still working on the proportions but as it stands right now 27 studs wide and 56 studs long. As for type of car it could be a muscle car at this point. Working on the chassis first. Quote
efferman Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 for road cars i would always use a center diff Quote
Milan Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 If the car will be driven only on solid, flat surface, then its ok. But if you want it to be able to go over a small bump or to drive over carpet, central diff oculd be a problem (it will stuck a car if only one wheel is off the ground) Quote
Rockbrick Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) You could use the diff to balance the power from the two L motors to the central axle - then it would not be a centre diff but you would ahave a diff in the centre.... Edited May 14, 2014 by Rockbrick Quote
efferman Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 milan, offroad with 3 diffs is possible. take simply a look on my unimog uhn Quote

Jullian_pdx Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Here is a picture of the latest revision of the chassis. This is my first time adding a picture. It's a little difficult to reduce the size of the pic on a tablet Quote
