Great, another clone brand. The minifigs look almost exactly like Lego Figures.

EDIT: I wonder what the makers are even thinking about when they make this stuff.

Sure, it's just that I don't know how to put pictures in a post! :S

Like this: [*img]<put here complete link to the picture>[/img*] --> remove the *'s

Example: <put here complete link to the picture> should be replace by something link http://mywebsite/pictures/picture1.jpg

But first your pictures must be on the internet. You can open an account on brickshelf to upload your pictures.

Well, here it is, although I've completely redone it to look more like a ship. Sorry for the blur and the stuff in the back ground. I'll upload some pics of the bricks themselves later.

By the way... You can post BBCode without it being parsed by using the quote.gifWrap in Code button

[img=http://mywebsite/pictures/picture1.jpg]

I've added a picture to the first post and an renamed this thread to reflect its content. As we have already have other clone/imitation brand threads lets make this one focus on Cobi Pirate products to differentiate it from the rest.

Me either till I discovered by accident a couple of months ago.

What do you mean you've "completely redone it to look more like a ship"? Isn't it suppose to look like a ship already? What did you "redo" to achieve this better ship appearance?

I hope that redoing it involved adding some official LEGO parts, because I see a few pieces in there that are way too close to looking real. 8-o

I will admit that there is the occasional bit there that I would be happy to see out of LEGO themselves. Still it's the basic juniorization style for most of it, so it doesn't interest me (who am I kidding, the fact that it isn't LEGO takes care of that).

That said, I'm going to continue to hold out hope for a new Pirates System line with nice surprises in store and until then, I'll pillage and plunder every collection I can, so consider this a warning to all who sail too near! :-P

Which occassional "bit" would you salavage Imperialshadows? I'm wondering just how compatible COBI is with LEGO because some of these immatation brands who claim compatability don't always live up to their claim.

Well I would swear on my life that this is fully compatible with lego. If it wasn't for the cobi instead of lego on the plastic, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. They even feel the same...

I'm very impressed.

p.s. I'm not a cobi salesperson or advocate of clone brands :-D

If I was prone to dabbling in such things, which I'm not, I'd take a close look at the railings, the crows nest, and possible the tan riggings. It's just too hard to tell how good they might be from the pics, and personally I hope they're terrible because I'm rude like that when it comes to clone brands. X-D

I guess I made it more historically accurate. One thing I did was give it a solid back behind the poop,

before it had a guard rail and looked akward.

I've seen this before, Best-lock is made by COBI. It's an Italian brand that has been posted here in the form of ebay auctions and pyromaniacal experiments multiple times before. ApophisV posted a Best-lock pirate review here, not so long ago.

I've never seen it in a store until about a week or so ago when I spotted it two 'war' sets on the shelf with Lego and Megabloks in a K*B Toy Works. It had a minifig displayed under the plastic of the front of the box and it didn't look half bad......

but now cobi and best lock merged, so this one looks better.and i thought that cobi was polish!

That makes sense, because I was observing Apo's fig and I realized the fig at the K*B Toys I saw and the figs from the your set have more Lego-like proportions. The legs of COBI are square and identical to Lego. The feet of the old bestlock were round. Perhaps COBI was Polish and Bestlock was Italian.

P.S. Do you have any good pictures of the figures that came with your COBI set?

I'll upload some... And if any of you out there hate clone brands don't worry, I think lego will sue cobi because they copied their molds. OR, perhaps cobi is reall a small division associated with the lego group, and they're trying to infiltrate the system to become THE LEGO TOY EMPIRE!!!!

Well, there are plenty of clone brands, and there have been for awhile. Lego has tried and failed to sucessfully sue clone brands, with the logic being "you can't copyright a rectangle". They'll be around for a long time.

And no, they're not a subdivision :-P

I would be very suprised if you could not FEEL the difference lego to me has its own distinct feeling i've examined all the clone brands and to me they feel different and also the color quality is not as good as lego.
