TNT apples Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Ahoy maties! My first post in this forum. I've recently gotten into the Pirates theme and I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for the first pirate ship to buy and the best and cheapest way to get it, I'm hoping not to have to spend more than £120. Lego dad Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) I bought the LoTR Pirate Ship Ambush for my first ship. It seems to be on sale all the time in the u.s. for 25% off. In the UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-The-Lord-Rings-79008/dp/B00B0ICYP0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394053140&sr=8-1&keywords=Lego+79008 Edited March 5, 2014 by Lego dad Quote
Matthias Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 The armada flagship is very cheap. I bought it for 30 Euro, but it is not really a pirate ship. You can get 6289 for about 60 Euro in Germany. I can recommandate to buy on eBay germany for all lego buyers all over the world, because the prices are the cheapest around the globe. From Germany the seller can deliver for 18 Euro (DHL) around the world. Quote
ultron32 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 The two best pirate ships of which I am aware are the new Metalbeard ship from The Lego Movie and the Black Pearl from PotC. Unfortunately these are both about double your price range at the moment. Just my two cents. Quote
pcvando Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Well well well… Where do I start…. You have many options when It comes to ships! Almost any Lego Pirate ship can be purchased in your budget! I have bough both sealed and opened pirate ships on eBay and brick link, some for half to a quarter of their value. Its all about timing. So, in my opinion, it depends on what you want. The first Pirates Lego Ships ever to sail the Seas were the Black Sea's Barracuda, and the Caribbean Clipper! Both Originally Released in 1989! So you have to ask yourself one question…. do you feel lucky punk?! Just kidding! Ask yourself what Faction you want; Pirates, Imperial Armada, Islanders, Red Coats, or Blue Coats. Then ask yourself what type of ship, and how many Cannons!? Then Let us know, and we can guide you further! Quote
Xcod119 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I am sorry that I cannot help, I missed out on the Last Pirates reboot and am hoping for a new theme connected to pirates to be produced! Quote
TNT apples Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Hi and thanks for the responses, they've helped me a lot with deciding In response to PCvando's question, The faction I'd want most is the Pirates as I have a few loose pirate minifigures with nowhere to display them and I'd prefer a sort of 'classic' or 'standard' pirate ship, like this: http://partyman.co.u...hip_jointed.jpg I don't really mind about the cannons though, as long as it has some artillery Edited March 6, 2014 by TNT apples Quote
Sebeus I Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) The Black Seas Barracuda is the most versatile pirate ship, unfortunatly often very expensive . The Skull's Eye Schooner is slightly bigger and has a skull crossbones on the main sail but also quite expensive, yet I managed to buy two of them for less than €100 each (second hands). The Red Beard Runner is a really iconic pirate ship, it's smaller than the previous ships, it has a less detailed sail plan but I think you can get it a lot cheaper as well. And finally there's the Brickbeard Bounty, the most recent pirate ship, it uses the new type of hulls, I can't say much about prices though, I'm not really a fan of this ship, I don't own one. Good luck on finding a suitable ship . PS: Those prices on lugnet are hardly relevant for a deal today incase you would wonder. Edited March 6, 2014 by Sebeus I Quote
2maxwell Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Are you okay with used? If so, you can find most of the best pirate ships for under that price on BrickLink. As for which one, I'd suggest the Black Seas Barracuda. I've never owned it, but it's widely considered one of the best Lego pirate ships. Skull's Eye Schooner is also quite good, but its a bit more than your budget, used. If you want something new, both the Red Beard Runner and Brickbeard's Bounty can be bought new at just under your budget. I like the Brickbeard's Bounty, but I've never been a fan of the Red Beard Runner Edited March 6, 2014 by 2maxwell Quote
TNT apples Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) Thank you very much for the help guys! I have decided on getting either The Red Beard Runner, Brickbeard's Bounty or possibly the LOTR pirate ship ambush set. Thanks again for the help! Edited March 6, 2014 by TNT apples Quote

Ardelon Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) There are also the smaller options, 6268 Renegade Runner and (dare I say it) 6250 Cross Bone Clipper. They should be well within your budget. Edited March 9, 2014 by Ardelon Quote
ultimate Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 You could get the sea cow for 180-200$ USD (no minifigs) or an original ship for around 200$USD Quote
