Hello everyone!

Here is my latest build. The riverbank cottage set in the country. The cottage is a mixture of several examples found all over the UK. I designed mine to be next to a river as opposed to the coast where many of this style cottage are to be found. This was just for scale purposes. I didn't want to build a beach/huge cliff beside it

Anyway, I think this belongs in town as its not quite historic? a lot of these cottages were built in the late 1800's to early 1900's and are still in good condition to this day. I'll leave it up the Admins to decide if it needs moving! :classic:

It was a chance for me to experiment with scenery, water and texture of which I enjoyed very much. All in all its taken a couple of months.

The floors are removable for interior access, although due to the small sizes of the rooms, the furnishings are less interesting than my previous efforts.

It's set sometime in the 50's just for a decorative era. Here are some pics;

Any comments or thoughts welcome!

It has no Hobbits in it, so it's not historic here on Eurobricks, I think :classic:

I like it very much, by the way. The fast streaming river, the little bridge, the use of white bricks which sometimes makes a house boring, which you managed to avoid by little textures. The only thing I can say is that the ceilings are maybe too high for a small cottage.

This is really gorgeous, inside and out. There are quite a few neat details here, like the trims on the corners of the wall and the tiles lining the front door. I also like how you have done the garden and the path.

Wow what a beautiful house!

The little bridge on the river looks fantastic!

Thanks LEGO Train 12 Volts! It's my first foray into any scenery/rockwork.

Thanks alois! Maybe I should have put hobbits in it and called it a mansion

I was going to make the downstairs a stud or two shorter but felt the windows and window boxes would be too close together. I've been in some 18th/19th/20th century cottages and the older they get the shorter they are. I'll pretend I meant it to be early 20th century! :classic:

Now that's a lovely cottage  , such delightful exterior.....simple but with a sweet garden.

Brick on 'snaillad' !

Lovely detailing as always Snailad. It looks so right and I love the textures you've used to soften up the outer white walls.

Bravo!

Thank you very much! I don't have much in way of small grey/dk grey bricks to make a interesting intricate facade, a lot of these cottages have rendering on them as their near the coast so it seemed obvious to use what I had and do a white facade. I'm glad the little touches have brought some life into it!

Beautiful. The house is really nice, simple, no exaggerated detailing, just like it should be. And id do like those hanging baskets with flowers. And then the detailing around the house. That's very impressive.
