Alcarin Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 License is 100% sure not ending this year.... otherwise they couldnt sell sets they made and are releasing this year lol................. think! :P Quote
Mencot Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 So why does people say "that TLG would not make a D2C or any other sets because the license is ending"? When is the license ending anyway, does anyone know? Quote
deskp Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 So why does people say "that TLG would not make a D2C or any other sets because the license is ending"? When is the license ending anyway, does anyone know? Nope, we dont know when. But we'll proapbly know soon. cause if the lisence ends this year they might not be allowed to sell sets in 2015. so keep your eyes on the lego store. Quote
wesker Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 If the license is ending soon that would explain why we're getting the sets two months earlier this year. Quote
SMC Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) It can't be that soon, they have spent too much on the new set for 3 months of sales and then bin the rest. Edited August 27, 2014 by SMC Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Yeah, the license is not ending this year, that wouldn't make any sense You can't expect them to produce four elaborate sets, sell them during two months and burry them in the desert afterwards The license will end next year, so they still have plenty of time to sell the last sets Take a look at other licenses, e.g. Harry Potter. The last sets were released in 2011, but the license didn't end that year but in 2012, so they could still sell the remaining sets. Edit: The HP license technically ended in 2013, since the Diagon Alley set disappeared on s@h in January 2013 (exactly two years after its release). Edited August 27, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote
Blakstone Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Still there are no non exclusive sets coming in 2015 as they are not in the catalog. A Hobbit D2C would likely have their minifigs listed with the others in the wave 3 instructions. So there is not a D2C coming either. Quote

And i expect the same for The Hobbit. Call me one License that didn't get a D2C or Shop Exclusive since Harry Potter Still there are no non exclusive sets coming in 2015 as they are not in the catalog. A Hobbit D2C would likely have their minifigs listed with the others in the wave 3 instructions. So there is not a D2C coming either. And did the Diagon Alley figs got listed in the back? Quote
SMC Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 It has already had an exclusive set. Just not a big D2C. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 (edited) Exactly. The Diagon Alley set was released before the final HP wave, so it's hard to tell whether the instruction booklet is any indication... Edit: D2C sets have a lifespan of at least two years. That means that a Middle-Earth D2C set released in 2015 would be sold till January 2017 If they had planned one, they'd have released it 2013 Edited August 27, 2014 by Lego-Freak Quote
Jason7189 Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 With lord of the rings, there is a very small chance that they just didn't advertise new Lotr in the back of BO5A. Quote
General Magma Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I have reason to believe that LOTR is done. No news of new sets, no indications that there will be future sets and rumors of a new castle theme involving fantasy elements (elves) are already spreading. Quote
Preuss Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I have reason to believe that LOTR is done. No news of new sets, no indications that there will be future sets and rumors of a new castle theme involving fantasy elements (elves) are already spreading. What hurts the most is that someone at LEGO might have noticed how sets like UHA, OF and MEA outsell the rest and thought "lets just make some unlicensed elves + orcs theme and drop those boring human-focused LOTR sets we had left". :-) Quote
Mahtion Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 ^^^^ Those are my suspicions as well considering legolas being sold in so many sets. Quote

Artanis I Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 With lord of the rings, there is a very small chance that they just didn't advertise new Lotr in the back of BO5A. That is what people were saying last year. They did. It's called Orthanc... You missed the wink smiley... What hurts the most is that someone at LEGO might have noticed how sets like UHA, OF and MEA outsell the rest and thought "lets just make some unlicensed elves + orcs theme and drop those boring human-focused LOTR sets we had left". :-) That would bring great joy to my heart. And sorrow. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Im so excited for Lake Town and Bo5a im for sure doing this: 1. Getting all the sets right away 2. Start buildig the smallest and end with the biggest 3. Add Smaug to the LT set to create the epic showdown between Bard and Smaug 4. Put Bard's sad and burned face on his Bo5a body and add a sword 5. put the dwarves from Smaug's Lair in the Bo5a battle 6. Mod Smaug's Lair a bit Quote
Ql97 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) @ kevkipo: Good idea. I myself am going to try to complete the Dol Guldur court yard, so it looks sort-of enclosed and city-like. @ dskp: Don't forget to add Sigrid, Tilda, and glowing Sauron to your list of minifigs. I have a very similar plan too. Mainly I just don't like it when figs are left displayed with their set because theres likely better places they could be. Quote
kevkipo Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 And i forgot: Making my own War Chariot (Kili, Fili and Balin and Dwalin ride in) Coming september 12th Quote
Steph 104th Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 That sounds awesome, just saw it on your Flickr page look great! Would make a decent set. Quote
