weavil Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I present to you my creation! It is a wheel loader. I was trying to make a PF version of 8439, but with the the shape of the small LA plus the gears, it was not happening. So I just started working from the turn table on up. It has: 4x medium motor 2x reciever 4x wheels (of course it does) ???-parts (still working on the LDD of it) You can see it is a little short on finished, but want to show what I made and thoughts on what else I could make it in to. The steering is a little complicated. It's all gears, but turns slow enough. It turned slower and not jerky in the first biuld, but in the redesign I could not fit one of the gear pairs in. I should shorten the arms a little bit, because it can only pick up 3 of the 68.8x24 wheels. A few more pictures are www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil Quote
Junpei Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Looks good so far! Good job cramming 4 (!) m-motors into such a small space. I think that bucket needs some work tho. TLH Quote
Gee Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Nice MOC. My only thoughts are: are those mini-LAs going to be beefy enough to raise the bucket when it's weighted down with "stuff"? Quote
weavil Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Nice MOC. My only thoughts are: are those mini-LAs going to be beefy enough to raise the bucket when it's weighted down with "stuff"? It can lift a little bit of wieght. I went and shortened the arms and it lifts better. Having to rethink the loader, I desided to start a new venture.... A wrecker! so far I started the rear of the wrecker and put it on LDD at the same time. Hope you like the start of it. The wheels in LDD are for show, because I have the 68.8 x 24 size only. But if you want to check it here--> Wrecker2.lxf Edited February 20, 2014 by weavil Quote
TinkerBrick Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Looks good so far. Try to incorporate the receivers into a cabin. This would improve the look of the front section. Quote
weavil Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 I hhave been hard at lately and stalled out at the cab for 3 reasons. 1. I have VERY little lift arms of yellow or black for exterior use. 2. Having trouble with a design for a stud-less cab for the scale of my tires. 3. I have no money for parts. (at least for a few months) So does anyone have any ideas for a stud-less cab to work with my tires? Quote
weavil Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) So here is what I got so far: So after a month of hard work I this big thing to show for all my hard work. I got stuck quite a lot and had too remake the LA drive assembly. But I'm almost done. got to finish the cab and try to get some free wheels for it. Just need 4 more 68.8x24 and it will be done and that is why it has the balloon tire for now. http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/Wrecker Edited February 20, 2014 by weavil Quote
weavil Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Finally got around to making an LDD for a crane arm I made. From what I test it holds up very well (to me that is). Haven't done anything with it yet, because I need the parts to try and finish my wrecker. Here is the file for those interested--> Pneumatic crane arm.lxf Quote
Doc_Brown Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Nice crane! I like how it all folds up neat. I will be looking into a pneumatic crane soon, haven't done anything yet with them. I'm not too sure about the different size wheels tho on the truck. if you are short on wheels, you probably could pick up 4 really cheap in the US! Quote
weavil Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Well they are not cheap. They are from the 5571, so I only got the 6. The other 2 are 68.8 like the other 6, so I figured they would work for now. Quote
Junpei Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Nice! I missed your update, and it looks great! You may want to change that front grille tho. The crane arm is very cool as well. :) TLH Quote
weavil Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 After getting the 42000 a week ago, I'm back with a new venture. Project001. Trying to see what I can do with my new parts. Here is what I got so far. http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/2014 No plans for motors yet, but HOG will be fine for now. Its not much yet, just 2 days in. Quote
D3K Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 It looks like you are developing your building skills nicely! I would try making the chassis a bit narrower though, as it looks like it's going to be a little wide compared to the length and size of wheels Quote
weavil Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Well after building the back end I thought about if it was too wide, but it's as wide as the front of the 42000. I was going for a wide stance. So I could make it a little long. Quote
weavil Posted July 26, 2014 Author Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) Well after some time I started over the car idea. After being buzy with other stuff, doing some research, and digging, I finaly came up with a better idea. It took a little research and development (so to speak), but I'm happy with the resaults. Pull the red pins. Pull the shock braces. Pull the 2 blue pins. And the rear end pops out. Got bigger pictures on my brickshelf. Will add a link to the folder when it is public. Edit: Here is the link to the rest... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=546161 Edited July 27, 2014 by weavil Quote
