Plastic Nurak Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) This new set is a clear invitation to build something bigger, mixing all the pieces or so of the set. And perhaps, marketing researches by TLG eventually have suggested them that a number of fan and/or purchasers like more the multi-model/multi-ideas approaching with its many possibilities. Gee Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Top review again Jim lad. I gave this set "Above Average" for the following reasons: - It's a great set for kids, simple and with lots of functionality, plus 3 models so everyone can play together. - 2 buckets, tracks and 2 different sized wheels give lots of options. - Lots of potential to make mini-MOCs or 1 larger one. - 2 different steering systems. Things that I wasn't so keen on: - The excavator chassis is very similar to the mini crane that I already have (it's not a biggie, just a personal one for me). - The arm of the excavator looks very flimsy (but then it is a tiny model, so again, no biggie). The fact that it doesn't have sophisticated build techniques and is not that challenging is a good thing. As is the fact that you get 3 mini sets and not one bigger more complex one. The target audience needs to be borne in mind I feel. To be honest, I've probably echoed a lot of what has already been said. This is a set that I'll likely get. Will provide a useful stash of parts in various colours and looks like it'll be a good one to build and play with with my 4 year old (bought him 42010 for Xmas and will see how he gets on with that first). DarkShadow73 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Excellent review of this set! It doesn't appear to be available in the USA along with the other 1H2014 models which I thought was really odd as they are usually available around Christmastime, but Amazon.com has a couple of sellers that got it somehow. After reading your review, I believe I will order it, its kind of nice having a small loader and excavator again. Been a while on those, too many backhoes released in the past 3 yrs or so. Did order the 42024 Container Truck last Thursday(4-10), thanks for that review as well. Edited April 13, 2014 by TechnicFreak Quote
rollermonkey Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 (edited) Picked this up today, mostly as a parts pack for eventual amusement rides MOCs... I laugh at the complaints that it's too simple, etc. It is clearly intended as an entry-level Technic set. If you've been making multi-motor, massive-scale, remote operated multi-function MOCs for years, you're not the target audience. Get over it, guys! Edited July 17, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
