The LEGO Group launched their official website back in 1996 when the Pirate theme was still prevalent, so naturally they dedicated a section of their website to the theme.

So here's a link to what little they had.

The website doesn't work very well nor is it all archived on Way Back Machine, but still we can have a fascinating glimpse to a time when Pirates mattered to The LEGO Group.:'-)

I feel the need to capture the story in text form:

Many years ago there was an evil Pirate named Captain Redbeard.

Legend tells he hid all his treasures on a secret island somewhere in the Pirate Sea.

Many brave treasure hunters have tried to find the treasure.

Most have only found a grave in the dangerous Pirate Sea.

Now the King has appointed you his persona treasure hunter.

He has given you a ship and plenty of supplies.

But before you begin you must talk to some

of the old treasure hunters in the King's city.

A long dead section of the Lego website saved on the server of this Web.archive? That's got to be illegal, no?

I don't really understand that Readbeard in rowboat game......:S

How did you find this Mr. Phes?

I was playing around with Way Back Machine and I thought it would be interesting to see what the LEGO website looked like 10 years ago.

I've been wondering about the legality of this too. I was looking at another website which was ordered to remove music lyrics from their website about 6 years ago and they did promptly. However, using Way Back Machine I discovered these copyright infringing webpages are still in tact.

10 Years ago would make it 1997. Interesting find and thank you for that link. That red beard sprite shall forever haunt me X-D .

Ah. I didn't see that, mr.

Then I guess there's not much need for this topic.

EDIT: Behold the power of merging!

I don't think that Pirate LEGO game was designed too well because it certainly hasn't been archived in a way that allows it to function. It doesn't seem to work properly on my end after about 3 moves.
