Junpei Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Amazing job! Sorry I was so late to comment, I don't know why I didn't. How do you get caster and camber angles that are just 2 degrees? Don't legos just have enough slack to get rid of that anyway? Quote
IJsmuts Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 This amazing car made it to the online "Autovisie", part of the biggest (but not the best!) Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf! http://www.telegraaf.nl/autovisie/blog/21996644/__Lego_Ford_Mustang_is_serieus_speelgoed__.html Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Sheepo finished making the digital files, so instructions should be coming soon. Can't wait to build this beauty. Quote
Blakbird Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Sheepo finished making the digital files, so instructions should be coming soon. Can't wait to build this beauty. Where are you getting this information? I need to know how long I have before bankruptcy. Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) He said so in an e-mail. You're going to Bricklink all the parts? That's going to be expensive indeed.. Me, I will just scavage my other sets. Edited October 25, 2013 by jantjeuh Quote
Sheepo Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Yes, the digital files are finished, Jurgen has they now. Now I have a provisional part list.... and the car has 3899 parts!!! more than I thought... hahaha But it only has a little quantity of expensive parts, so it will be more or less 150€ cheaper than the Land-Rover in the full RC version. jantjeuh Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 3.9K parts.. just the right number for a Lego UCS set Are you going to put it on CUUSOO? Quote
Blakbird Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 He said so in an e-mail. You're going to Bricklink all the parts? That's going to be expensive indeed.. Yes, I will Bricklink the parts, but I think I will build the manual version which will help keep the cost down. I can still convert it to use PF later if I win a bunch of money. Quote
kevman Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 IS the chassis based on the MPS system ? I can't decide between this one or the lnad rover to make first. this might move to the top of my list ! Quote
Sheepo Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) jantjauh, I got the 10.000 votes in cuusoo with the Land-Rover, but in the very far case that Lego finally release the Defender as a set, they will never launch another big technic cuusoo set... About the two versions... the manual version doesn't have sequential gearbox... just the typical manual 5+R speeds gearbox with handbrake... Maybe you think why not put the sequential gearbox in both versions... and the answer is very easy, the 3rd Gen gearbox can not be driven confortably without a motor. kevman, it is not based in the MPS, because I can't add brakes on it with the space limitations. Kumbbl Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Maybe you think why not put the sequential gearbox in both versions... and the answer is very easy, the 3rd Gen gearbox can not be driven confortably without a motor. hmm, why not just motorizing the gearbox - IMHO this would - be still a "manual" version of the car - would still reduce the costs dramatically So, my suggestion for the manual version would be: No motors but including the sequential gearbox driven by the servo...why i do suggest this? simply, because your seq. gearboxes are mechanical marvels and add great value to the whole car...whereas the typical standard 5+R is quite boring (and - to be honest - actually not adequate for a Sheepo car ;-) Quote
Sheepo Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 I like your point of view, but there are some things about you have not think... Many people don't want any of the advenced features, like the sequential gearbox and the functions controlled remotely, they only want the model to keep it in their studio, only for look it, like another Lego Technic set. The manual version has not any motor(obviously), but also it has around 300 parts less, and that means the manual version is much cheaper than the RC. Also if anybody wants not pust all PF elements, and only add the servo motor to the gearbox can do it without problems. Quote

Well, at least it gives TLC some idea that people really, really, really like more complex Technic sets ;-) I'd say put it on CUUSOO anyway! Also gives you more visibility, which you deserve. Quote
grego18f Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Awesome Shelby! This is a great job like in your habit Quote
Balrog Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Oh my oh my ... I guess I should start disassembling Lipko's Coupe once I am home from vacation to have the parts at hand! @Sheepo do you already have a parts-list ready? Quote
D3K Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Just an idea, for the previously discussed manual version with sequential gearbox: One could maybe integrate the gearbox with the servo motor, and then place a PF switch, spring loaded (with rubberbands) and with a stick, between the seats ? Then it would still be a "manual model", but with an automatic sequential gearbox, and I can't recall having seen any other MOCs with this setup! EDIT Sort of like a Hurst shifter, previously mentioned by Blakbird! Edited October 27, 2013 by D3K Quote
Jody Meyer Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 wow, this is stunning work, i can imagine the thought process that went into this.. Quote

Sheepo Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Ok, The problem is the price. Probably most of you have a servo motor, but many people who buy my instructions haven't it... and a servo motor is very expensive (around 30€ in bricklink)... The RC and the manual version are almost equal: frame, bodywork, front and rear axles, interior, seats, doors, bonnet and more, are equal, it uses the same digital files. Only difference is the gearbox, and the RC has three little mechanims for motorize the drive, steering and brakes. Some screenshoots of the files(there are more files with the bonnet, doors, seats etc...): The manual gearbox, with handbrake(the sequential gearbox doesn't have it) And the new sequential gearbox Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Thank god 9398 included 2 x L and a servo Very curious how the sequential gearbox performs. Quote
