simonwillems Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I really like the model but I wouldn't spend fifteen dollars on the instructions, one can always look at the pictures... Nice you made them available, though. Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Puerto Brick is a nice set, but I would charge $4 AT MOST for a instructions, but It's still nice that you have posted this. I 'm sure some one will buy... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 28, 2007 Governor Posted March 28, 2007 Why would you only capy $4 at most for the Puerto Brico instructions Capn Kirk? Is that because you don't have much money? Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Why would you only capy $4 at most for the Puerto Brico instructions Capn Kirk? Is that because you don't have much money? Because they are just instructions, and on small sets... if say it was the instructions to something much larger like that one replica of the Portuguese fort that we reviewed a couple months ago then one may pay upwards of forty dollars I would think... but on a small piece count set such as these are, and no pieces.... Besides most people can figure out how he made them anyway... its getting the right colors that is the hard part lol. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 30, 2007 Governor Posted March 30, 2007 I've seen instructions for 6260 Shipwreck Island sell for over US$10 just recently. In another thread I posted a link to the auction, I could dig that up if you're interested. Quote
Tully Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I've seen instructions for 6260 Shipwreck Island sell for over US$10 just recently. In another thread I posted a link to the auction, I could dig that up if you're interested. I bought my shipwreck isle instructions offling also, but I got mine for 1 Cent + 99 cents shipping. 1$ I had to pay for it! :-D Quote
BaronSat Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Because they are just instructions, and on small sets... if say it was the instructions to something much larger like that one replica of the Portuguese fort that we reviewed a couple months ago... That's interesting and help a lot. Could you tell me, for example, what other models (not specially mines) you would like to have instructions for? I'd like to have more opinions form more people, so go ahead and "unleash hell"... er I mean write what you think ;-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 31, 2007 Governor Posted March 31, 2007 I'm wondering Baron Sat, is this the only place you've advertised these instructions? Perhaps you could try eBay with a starting bid of 0.99 cents and see how high the final bid is. Quote
SkaForHire Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I dont see why anyone would buy instructions to TLG sets... I can see them buying them for like puerto brico though i wouldn't personally, it is something original that was never released.... but for actual released sets all the instruction scans are available at multiple places online (or at least they have been) The only reason to buy physical isntructions is to make a complete set for selling or to have a copy for yourself if you need a physical copy... since i tend to mix my pieces it doesnt bother me to use online instructions (which are actually considered legal by TLG as long as TLG doesn't produce the set anymore) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 31, 2007 Governor Posted March 31, 2007 I haven't checked which instructions are available on LEGO.com but from my understanding publishing the instructions of recently released sets online is a violation of copyright for which action can be taken against. So, in order to avoid that violation the set has to reach a certain age. That's just what I've been told - I think it was Bloody Jay who originally told me. Quote
BaronSat Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 I'm wondering Baron Sat, is this the only place you've advertised these instructions? No I just advertise here because they are Pirates related?! Perhaps you could try eBay with a starting bid of 0.99 cents and see how high the final bid is. That's a good idea. I have another question for the fans : What would you prefer to buy : - a build custom models without instructions or - custom instructions alone Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 2, 2007 Governor Posted April 2, 2007 I'm wondering how I would build a custom model without the instructions unless the model was shipped completely built? A completely built model would also add to the expensive of the shipping. Also, if this completely built model was accidentially damaged (i.e. total annhilation), how could the buyer rebuild it without the instructions? Quote
BaronSat Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 I'm wondering how I would build a custom model without the instructions unless the model was shipped completely built? A completely built model would also add to the expensive of the shipping. Not necessarily because shipping depends of the weight, but for some large models that may be possible. Also, if this completely built model was accidentially damaged (i.e. total annhilation), how could the buyer rebuild it without the instructions? If the model is partially destroyed I could send photos or some rought pictures from MLCAD. If it's totally destroyed... and that never happened on the first sets I sold... well I should think to any solution but have no idea for now :-D Honestly I'm a bit fed up with instructions these days and I wonder if I won't be back to my old system and sold only built models??? 8-| Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 2, 2007 Governor Posted April 2, 2007 Why are you fed up with instructions? Do you find it tedius to make them? Quote
BaronSat Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 Why are you fed up with instructions? Do you find it tedius to make them? Yes, it takes a lot of time, sometimes it's boring and not always profitable... let me check... ok I mentioned everything. X-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 3, 2007 Governor Posted April 3, 2007 What about selling the instructions with the pieces? Does that increase the probability of sales? Or are people generally not interested in instructions at all? Quote
BaronSat Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 What about selling the instructions with the pieces? That is selling kits... what I'm doing at first... is my website not clear enought about that???!!! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 3, 2007 Governor Posted April 3, 2007 That wasn't the question I was asking. I'll try rephrasing it. Do you get better sales when the instructions are part of a kit or when you sell them on their own? Quote
BaronSat Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 That wasn't the question I was asking. I'll try rephrasing it.Do you get better sales when the instructions are part of a kit or when you sell them on their own? That depends of the models. But the larger models have better sales as sets than as instructions. Maybe because people don't have the parts and don't want to have to "chase" them??? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted April 4, 2007 Governor Posted April 4, 2007 I know I don't like to go "chasing" parts and prefer to buy everything together in the one the package. To get all the necessary parts I'd (I presume others would too) have to buy from several Brickshelf sellers and to make that viable I'd have to buy a reasonable amount of other parts to get value for postage. Not to mention some BrickLink sellers have a minimum order of US$5 or US$10 forcing buyers to buy extra parts. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 That Puerto Brico set is fully awsom!!! :-$ and I would love instructions but when it costs $15 for them, I can just look at your pics. If you maybe put instructions for just one part of the set on peeron or another lego instruction website you would probably be able to drum up more intrest for people to buy the rest of the instructions, but not for $15. Maybe $5 at the most. Anyway, congrats and keep up the good work! Quote
