Meiko Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Rome is so full of architectural gems that it is fitting to include a set from there. I know, right? There are so many cool architectural things in Rome, but the problem I see of why they don't make too many sets from things there is that the architecture has too many religious connotations or that things there are partially crumbled like the Colosseum, which would be hard to replicate at the same detail in a small scale. Herky Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Marina Bay Sands, just an update on this, and for the Netherlands, good possible news: http://www.brickshop...-bay-sands.html Brickshop is showing they will have the set for sale on May 1. Quote
Legogal Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Meiko, I agree. Rome is a tough one for Architecture sets. So many of the famous buildings are round, too, which makes it tougher unless one is in love with macaroni bricks in 18 different diameters. (Actually I would love those bricks personally as my round creations stink.) Maybe it is time for Architecture to address the "BIg Arch" issue as Paris with its Triumph (on top is one of my favorite views of Paris on a clear day) and Rome with its many famous arches; they could be nice sets. Herky, I hope they make 100,000 more MBS if the demand is there. Looks perfect parked next to my UN building. I love the whatever blue windows on those seats….look really cool! I have decided if there is an Arch set I really want and can't get, I'm gonna hang a full size photo of it on my shelf (right next to the real brick sets) and let it go. Thanks for the update! Quote
Herky Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Living in St Louis, I see the Big Arch a bit differently, there is a really cool version done by Adam Reed Tucker at our science center, about 2 feet high at its peak of the arch for the keystone Quote
eiker86 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Any news about LEGO House 4000010? I am ready to invade Billund =) Quote
Meiko Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 The only info I have is what is on the Brickipedia article, which you've probably already looked at. Just the release time, ages and Danish price. I wish there was more info (or at least official pictures). Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) It's kind of ugly and CLEARLY not part of the Architecture line. Edited February 11, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
Aanchir Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 It's kind of ugly and CLEARLY not part of the Architecture line. I agree it's not part of the Architecture line (rather, it's part of the same series as the LEGO factory promotional sets), but I don't see why you think it's ugly. Simple as it is, it's a fantastic likeness of the subject. And the subject is quite a classy building at actual size — it just doesn't make for a particularly interesting LEGO model. In any case, I'd take this set over the bland Empire State Building set from the Architecture series any day. Quote
Meiko Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I don't see how it's any more part of the Architecture line than Mariana Bay Sands. As far as I know it's the same situation; the set is exclusive to a specific country/region, but is still an Architecture set. Quote
rollermonkey Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm saying it's ugly so I don't want it. (That may seems backward, but it isn't.) The box for Marina Bay Sands says "Architecture" right on it. (I did get my hands on one.) The Lego House box, of which we've only seen what I'm sure is just a placeholder, does not. The set numbering for Marina Bay Sands clearly places it in the Architecture line. The set numbering for the Lego House clearly places it in a different category. (Whatever 6-digit sets that start with 4 are) The Lego House has a minifig, something obviously not included in any Architecture set to date. All of this, plus my fervent desire that it ISN'T part of the Architecture line (so I don't have to pay some ridiculous amount to get one) is what we have to go on. :) Quote

I told him I no longer wanted the set I would rather have trevi fountain instead. I didn't think Marina Bay Sands was worth paying over £100 for it's not that nice a set. So I am going to get trevi fountain, the new train station and new passenger train coming out in June instead. I just wanted to let anyone know if they want the set that they can contact Marina Bay Sands and ask. Quote
Herky Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 I have to agree, I had never looked at the number on The Lego House set, seeing that it is a 4XXX number, it would not be a part of Architecture line. However from what I have read on this, they will be releasing a larger, more colorful set of this house after it is finished in 2015. Marina Bay is definitely labeled as part of the Architecture line though, so if you are a completest, then you will want to try to pick it up. I posted earlier too that a shop in the Netherlands is advertising as stocking it in May. Let's hope the release of these sets will drive down the insane high prices on the set. Quote
Herky Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Just saw something online that says the Trevi Fountain will not be sold in the US as well...this was a rumor, and as much as I dislike rumors, I do not want to conjecture on whether it is true or not, still, if this one is not sold in the US on the heels of the MBS not sold anywhere but Singapore, that is going to really frustrate the Architecture line collectors...anyone know anymore about Trevi at this point? Quote
rollermonkey Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I for one would be pretty peeved if they did ANOTHER regionally limited edition so closely on the heels of MBS. The markup to get one outside the area of release is just stupid, and a way for LEGO to just give away profits to other people. Even if they don't want to distribute it across the network of LEGO stores, a short period of availability on S@H would be much more acceptable. I'd like to think that the early leaks for MBS all indicating it's limited edition status, as opposed to Trevi, which early box art did NOT have the limited edition marking, would be indicative that it will be a standard wide release. Quote
Herky Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 agree, apparently though this lady is saying she emailed Lego directly and they told her a European release only...I am thinking this will be a June release and agree, no way can they limit it to a regional release, I do not know if many Americans have been to MBS but I know a lot of folks who have been to Rome. It's a no brainer to sell it world wide if you ask me, just hope we get some info at some point, it seems TLG just hates to give out info on the Arch line, but we know the drop ship and Benny's spaceship and the sandcrawler and many more...frustrating to say the least. Steve309 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Just recieved 4000010 lego house in the mail today. (Bought it off eBay) But I'm building it later today or tomorrow. If anyone wants pictures of anything I'll take it. Quote
Herky Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 Likely need a thread just for that since it is not really Architecture, also you should do a review of it while building and post that, would be great, since it is only 200 pieces or so, should be a great review. Quote
Steve309 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 True. Not architecture. I'm not one to do a review. I just know it came up before. So was wondering if anyone wanted any specific picture. Quote

TheBrickPal Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Ooh, Trevi Fountain. http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-architecture-trevi-fountain-21020-official-images/ It looks pretty sweet! Thoughts? Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Same picture we've been looking at for a couple months now. It looks ok, but it isn't famous as architecture. It's artistically important as sculpture. Quote
Meiko Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) Yeah, these aren't new pictures. It's a nice set regardless, though. Edited April 23, 2014 by Meiko Quote
Herky Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Given the timeline I am thinking Trevi in June, July at the latest...at least I hope. I would think they would release 4 sets a year in this line minimum. Quote
