DrJB Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) The questions are rather obvious, let us get a feel for how 'serious' this hobby is for members of this 'community' ... there is no right or wrong answer. Here are some sample questions:1. How many hours on average you spend (per month) on Lego. (might be a big difference between summer/winter). 2. How many sets you buy per year (All, 2/3, Multiples of each set, ...). Anything else? Edit: Despite what the title says, I'm not asking for actual figures for $$$ spent on the hobby ... that is too 'personal' of a question. Edited August 30, 2013 by DrJB Quote
Paul B Technic Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Well these are fairly open ended type questions so a bit hard to really say as it various a lot. 1. What do you class as spending on LEGO? Is this just physical building or also designing, research, time on forums and so on? Physical building for me varies a lot, I might spend 8+ hours one day and then not do any for a week or more. I do however regularly check forums and websites daily. 2. Well this year I have purchased about 25 sets, I only have 1 of them left at the moment after the great sell off I had a couple of months ago. Quote
Andy D Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 As Paul B said... This varies a lot, but... 1. I spend at about 4 hours per day on forums, research and design. Unfortunately my building is only about 8 hours per week divided over two days. 2. Spending is another variable... I but I buy bricks and parts from pick-a-brick, bricklink and eBay. I buy sets from LEGO (online and in stores), I also buy sets from Amazon, eBay and Bricklink. Trying to figure out how much... Nah, I don't really want to total that up. Total sets purchased last year (all sizes) was about 25 (though some wrre gifts). Andy D Quote
Foggy Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 1. Well, check some forums daily, about 1h overall, building time? Depends, some months could be all weekends, some never...usually build more on winter time, summer time do outdoor activities. 2. Depends, I'm always looking for old technic sets from 80s,90s so whenever I find a good deal I buy, then as far as new relases concern I buy them only if I like the model and lately I'm looking into Creator and Collectors side too. The best was 2 years a go when bought about 12 sets mixed from old, recent relases and recent out of production, this year just 2 and no new relases(wait prices go a bit down ) Quote
Tariq j Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) 1. Well I spend about 6hrs building/buying Lego and i'm on the forums daily. Some times I do more sometimes less. 2. It really depends on what sets are on offer, this year for example we got some good star wars and lone ranger sets I basically bought the whole 2nd wave of SW sets and two big lone ranger sets, so again depends on what we get. Freekysch Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 1. Not as much i would like (only build sets when i buy them and i don't build any MOCs so not so much time) 2. I buy arounf 2-3 sets a year, so i spend bwtween 200 - 300 euro on them Quote
Gremer Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) 1. Depends on the month. If it's March (my birthday month) or December (Christmas), maybe 2-4 hours. The other months would probably be about 30-40 minutes. 2. About 16 or LotR sets, with 1 or 2 other theme sets thrown in. Edited September 1, 2013 by Gremer Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 1. I haven't spent much time building over the past year, probably less than 10hrs this year. I do spend maybe a combined hour a day reading or view something on LEGO, though. Sometimes more sometimes less. 2. I buy more than a few sets a year; many, many more. Some are duplicates, not for resale, but how many cities only have 1 garbage truck. Quote
Leo604 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 1. Definitely not a lot building aside from new sets; last year of high school took up a lot of my time. 2. About 10 this year, but they were small-medium sized. The largest one was probably Weathertop, and I don't think I bought multiples of any sets. Quote
Vindicare Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Aside from building new sets, I don't build anything. I've been a bit busy with LEGO than usual as I'm trying to get a nice, balanced City layout. I haven't bought as many sets this year as in past years. My reentry into comic books has taken a good chunk of LEGO money away.im sure I've still bought 20+/- of all sizes. Quote
